Objective To study the effect of leech powder on mortality and disability of acute intracerebral hemorrhage at 30 days and 1 year. Methods In a Case-control study,we analyzed the 30-day and 1-year mortality and disability with respect to leech powder treatment status in 59 patients consecutively admitted within one week of intracerebral hemorrhage onset. Confounding factors were compared between treated and nontreated patients. Results About two thirds of the patients received oral leech powder as part of their routine treatment, mean dosage was (2.22?0.42)g/d and mean duration was (10.12?3.39)d. The mortality was 2.4% versus 16.7% (P =0.08) at 30 days and 17.1% versus 44.4% (P=0.03) at 1 year in the leech powder treated and nontreated groups, respectively. Modified Rankin score 5-6 was 43.9% (61.1% in nontreated groups,P =0.45) at 30 days and 17.1% (50% in nontreated groups,P =0.03) at 1 year in treated groups, respectively. Leech powder treatment effect was adjusted for Glasgow Coma Scale, hyperglycemia, creatinine and smoker in logistic regression models. Depending on the factors entered into the model, either no effect or harm could be attributed to leech powder. Conclusions Based on the results of this study,no recommendations can be made on the use of leech powder in acute intracerebral hemorrhage. And properly randomized, controlled trials should be performed to come to a final conclusion.

Objective To determine the diagnostic value of SPECT in lower digestive tract hemorrhage (LDTH). Methods Of the 24 LDTH cases,16 were tested by gastric mucosa imaging ,4 by 99m Tc PHA imaging, and the other 4 by 99m Tc RBC imaging. All the patients' diagnosis were confirmed by surgery and pathology. Results The sensitivity and the specificity of the gastric mucosa imaging were 100%(16/16) and 93.7%(15/16),respectively. The sensitivity of the 99m Tc PHA imaging and the 99m Tc RBC imaging was 75.0%(3/4) and 75.0 %(3/4), respectively, but had no specificity. Conclusions SPECT has very high sensitivity and specificity in the diagnosis of Meckel's diverticulum. 99m Tc PHA imaging and 99m Tc RBC imaging may help to determine the position of bleeding in unkown causes of LDTH.

Objective:To analyze the factors related to metastasis of contralateral central lymph node (CLN) in cN0 papillary thyroid car-cinoma (PTC) and discuss the indications for CLN dissection. Methods:We enrolled 149 unilateral PTC patients who underwent total thyroidectomy and prophylactic bilateral (CLN) dissection. This work analyzed the relationship of gender, age, extrathyroidal extension, multifocality, thyroiditis, ipsilateral central lymph nodes, and prelaryngeal lymph node with CLNs. Results:The rates of metastasis to ip-silateral and contralateral central compartments were 73.2%and 23.5%, respectively. In univariate analysis, gender, age, tumor size, multifocality, and thyroiditis were not important in predicting contralateral central compartment lymph node metastasis (P=0.792, 0.097, 0.531, 0.269, and 1.000, respectively);by contrast, extrathyroidal extension (P=0.017), prelaryngeal lymph nodes (P=0.006), and ipsilateral CLNs (P<0.001) are related to CLN metastasis. However, multivariate analysis showed that ipsilateral central metastasis was an independent risk factor for lymph node metastasis in the contralateral central region when the number of ipsilateral central metas-tases is≥3 (P=0.010). Conclusion:Extracapsular invasion, prelaryngeal lymph nodes, and ipsilateral CLN influence the metastases of CLN. Bilateral CLN dissection should be performed when the number of ipsilateral central metastases is≥3 and there is merger of ex-tra-laryngeal lymph nodes or capsule invasion.

Objective To investigate the relationship between body mass index (BMI), blood lipid level and cancer de?tection in prostate biopsy. Methods A total of 214 patients undergoing a prostate biopsy during 2013.2—2014.8 were re?viewed retrospectively. They were divided into prostate cancer and non-cancer groups by biopsy results. The differences of age, prostate-specific antigen (PSA) level, prostate volume (PV), blood lipid level and BMI were analyzed between two groups. Risk factors for cancer detection of biopsy were also analyzed. Results Compared with non-cancer patients, pros?tate cancer patients were older, had higher level of PSA and BMI, but smaller PV and lower level of HDL-C ( P<0.05). Lo?gistic regression analysis showed that older, higher level of PSA and BMI were risk factors for prostate biopsy positive, but larger PV and higher level of HDL-C were protective factors (P<0.05). Conclusion Comprehensive assessment of BMI and blood lipid levels can provide important reference for prostate cancer screening at early time and establishment of pros?tate biopsy scheme, which also provide significant evidence for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer at early stage for high risk population.

AIM: To study the survival, transfer and distribution of bone marrow CD34+/CD45+ cells from transgenic GFP mouse after transplanted into the completed transversional spinal cord rat model. METHODS: The bone marrow cells isolated from transgenic GFP mice were cultured in vitro. The cultured cells were identified by anti-CD34 and anti-CD45 monoclonal antibodies, and were transferred into the end of transection spinal cord. Paraformaldehyde was infused into the left ventricle of the rat model at the 24 h, 48 h, 1 week, 2 weeks, 4 weeks and 8 weeks after cell transplantation. Through sank and frozen, the spinal cord was sectioned at 10 ?m thickness. The green fluorescence positive cells were observed under the fluorescence microscope. CD34+/CD45+ cells were identified by immunohistochemistry staining. RESULTS: Green fluorescence positive cells were found at the head and the end of the completed transection part of spinal cord. Most of the green fluorescence positive cells were distributed in the gray substance of spinal cord. CD34+/CD45+ cells were found by immunohistochemistry staining. CONCLUSION: CD34+/CD45+ cells survived in spinal cord of SD rat, and migrated to the head of the transection part. The distance of migration was extended by the time.

ObjectiveTo explore the effects of myoblast formation around the urethra of stress urinary incontinence (SUI) rats after treated with bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(BMSCs) or musclelike cells/calcium alginate composite gel injection therapy.MethodsIsolation, cultivation and identification of Sprague-Dawley rat bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell were performed.5-azacytidine was introduced to induce muscle-like cells.Calcium alginate gel was initially prepared by 2% sodium alginate and 1% calcium chloride solution at a volume ratio of 5∶1.Compounds of stem cells or muscle-like cells were mixed with gel, respectively, and were prepared for microinjection.SUI was produced in 72 6-week-old female Sprague-Dawley rats. The rats were then divided into 4 groups:Gel group, stem cell-gel group,muscle-like cell-gel group and mock control group. Each group was further divided into 3 groups.Submucosal injection of gel was performed at urethra and bladder neck. After preparation of cross sections of rat urinary tract at 4 weeks and 8 weeks after injection,HE staining, fluorescent tracing, staining of Desmin and α-skeletal muscle actin (α-SMA) were performed.OD values of positive rates were compared.ResultsAt 4 weeks and 8 weeks after injection in stem cell-gel group and muscle-like cell-gel group, growth of blood vessels gradually increased at gel edge,BMSCs and muscle-like cells gathered around the new blood vessels observed by fl(u)orescence tracer,muscle-like cells grew into elongated spindle-like cells.Desmin and α-SMA staining were positive in these groups, and the OD values in the stem cell-gel group and muscle-like cell-gel group was significantly higher than that from the gel only group and control group, but no difference was found between stem cell-gel group and muscle-like cell-gel group.ConclusionsCompound of BMSCs,muscle-like cells and calcium alginate composite gel has the potential to differentiate into muscle cells in the microenvironment of SUI rat model. In short term, the myoblast formation potential is the same whether the BMSCs was introduced into the micro-environment in vivo directly,or the BMSCs was implanted into microenvironment after the formation of the muscles cells induced by 5-azacytidine in vitro.
