Chinese Journal of Information on Traditional Chinese Medicine 2016;23(5):13-15
There are several disadvantages on the packaging of Chinese herbal medicine, such as unified packaging specification, misused packaging material and uncompleted or no packaging label information. These problems usually result in low quality of medicine, and will bring negative effects on the industry in the long term. Moreover, packaging design is usually too ordinary, without any regional features. Improving the packaging quality and changing the packaging style do not only make Chinese herbal medicine become “safe medicine” or “environmental-friendly medicine”, but also an important measure to raise the competitive power of Chinese herbal medicine in markets at home and abroad.

Traditional Chinese medicine owns the duality of commodity property and quasi-public goods in the process of production and circulation. According to the duality of traditional Chinese medicine, giving full play to government function is the key to guaranteeing and promoting the quality and security control in the dryness process of traditional Chinese medicine. Government functions mainly focus on improving the quality and security control ability of production operators and stimulating quality and security control motive of producers. This article began with the duality of traditional Chinese medicine, expounded the government functions in the dryness process and quality control of traditional Chinese medicine from macroscopic and micro levels, and proposed the measures of improving dryness process based on government functions.

Objective To explore clinical significance of muhidetector(64-row)computed tomography carotid atherosclerosis angiography(MDCTA)in detecting carotid atherosclerotic plaque. Methods Data of 116 patients with carotid atherosclerosis undergone with MDCTA stayed at Huashan Hospital,Shanghai from January to August,2008 were analyzed retrospectively. Results Three hundred and seventy-seven plaques were identified among all the 116 patients in the study, with an incidence of calcified plaque of 63.40 percent, and more detected at the common carotid artery(27.85%).the carotid bifurcation(39.78%)and the internal carotid artery (21.48%).There was significantly statistical difference in plaque types between those with mild, moderate and severe carotid stenosis(P=0.000)and between those aged equal to or lower than 50 years and equal to or greater than 70 years(P=0.005).Plaque types at the common carotid artery were significantly difierent from those at the carotid bifurcation(P=0.000)and at the internal carotid artery(P=0.000).Results of regression analysis showed a positive and significant association between carotid occlusion and clinical symptomatology(with a coefficient of correlation of 1.080.P=0.023)and inverse association between calcified plaque and clinical symptomatology(with a coefficient of correlation of 0.688,P=0.006).Conclusions Not only imaging characteristics of carotid atherosclerotic plaque can be accurately assessed by MDCTA,but also measurement of its stenosis degree.Assessment of plaque type, degree of stenosis and distribution of plaque in different Vascular segments with MDCTA can be used to predict clinical occurrence of cerebevaseular events in patients with carotid atherosclerosis.

Game relationship of mutual restriction and mutual connection exist among various segments of Chinese medicine decoction pieces supply chain. Any problems in any segments will affect quality and safety of the whole supply chain, and ultimately affect the safety of consumers. Based on the theory of supply chain, this article established a linear supply chain and static game model, including planting farmers, production and marketing society, processors of Chinese medicine decoction pieces, terminal consumers and middle sales section whichis made up of whole sale and retail markets and manufacturing enterprises of Chinese patent medicine. This article also proposed the suggestions about quality safety of Chinese medicine decoction pieces through quantitative methods in game theory.

Objective To discuss the safety and short-term efficacy of MR-guided focused ultrasound surgery (MRgFUS) for pain palliation of bone metastases patients. Methods Fourteen patients with painful bone metastases were recruited in this prospective study. The treating efficacy was characterized by numerical rating scale (NRS),the brief pain inventory quality of life (BPI-QOL) survey, and Karnosky performance status scale (KPS).Adverse events occurred pre-and post-treatment were analyzed.Normal distributed statistics was analyzed by using paired-samples t test or Wilcoxon rank sum test. Results Fourteen patients were treated with MRgFUS,2 patients dropped out of the study. The NRS ratings are 6.50(4.00),5.00 (5.25),2.50(5.00),2.50(4.75),2.00 (6.00) for pre-treatment,one week, one month, two months, and three months, respectively.Such variances of NRS ratings were statistically significant (Z=-2.773,-2.740,-2.769,-2.675;P<0.05).The BPI-QOL ratings were (42.42± 8.27),(30.67 ± 12.29),(29.17±15.38),(29.92± 17.67) and (35.67± 19.28),respectively.The BPI-QOL ratings decreased in the first two months after the treatment which is statistically significant (t=3.231,2.820 and 2.453;P<0.05);whereas for the third month, the BPI-QOL rating was statistically insignificant compared with the one before the treatment (P>0.05).The KPS ratings were 80(28),80(20),65(45) for pre-treatment,one week and three months after treatment, respectively.Three months after the treatment, the KPS ratings decreased which was statistically significant compared with the one before the treatment (Z=-2.204,P<0.05).After the treatment, one patient developed deep venous thrombosis, three patients reported lower extremities numbness, two patients had soft tissue edema around the lesions. Conclusions MRgFUS is effective for short-term pain palliation of bone metastases.Such noninvasive technique is safe and can improve patients' living condition.
