Objective To explore the magnetic properties of permanent magnet wafers commonly used in magnetotherapy to provide a basis for the scientific and rational use of sources of magnetism. Methods A magnetometer was used to measure the magnetic induction intensities of the N and S polar centers of eight groups of magnet wafers (axial magnetization) with nominal magnetic induction intensities of 6 mT, 10 mT, 20 mT, 30 mT, 60 mT,100 mT, 200 mT and 350 mT.Results There were some differences between the nominal values and the measured mean magnetic induction intensities. In a few groups the differences were close to 20%. There were also differences within the same group. The magnetic induction intensities of the two polar surfaces were not always equal for the same magnet, and there were large differences among individual magnets. Conclusions The intensities of magnetic sources must be measured before use to ensure the consistency of magnetic induction intensities in therapeutic applications.

Objective To compare the clinical outcome of internal fixation(IF)and total hip arthroplasty (THA)for the elderly patients with displaced femoral neck fracture. Methods A total of 128 patients with dis-placed femoral neck fracture admitted from January 2010 to December 2012 were selected and divided into IF group(61 cases)and THA group(67 cases). The operation and hospitalization index were compared between the 2 groups. All patients underwent follow-ups after operation. The functional recovery scale for hip fracture (FRS) and EQ-5D index were applied to evaluate the clinical outcomes periodically. Results Compared to THA group, the intraoperative trauma ,operation time and bed days were less in IF group(P<0.05),however the incidence of complication in IF group was higher than that in THA group. All the patients were followed up more than 3 years and mortality rate between the 2 groups showed no significant difference(P>0.05). Follow-ups at all time points revealed hip function in THE group is better than that in IF group(P<0.05),while no significant difference was found in terms of life quality(P > 0.05). Within 3 years, the costs related to fracture were 41772 yuan for IF group and 61174 yuan for THA group respectively. Conclusion Both internal fixation and total hip arthroplasty can provide satisfactory outcome for elderly patients with displaced femoral neck fracture. Compared with IF ,THA causes bigger trauma and costs more ,but ends up with lower complication incidences ,and improve hip function in a shorter period.

An innovative, ternary nanocomposite composed of overoxidized poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)(OPEDOT),gold nanoparticles (AuNPs),and electrochemically reduced graphene oxide (ERGO) was prepared on a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) (OPEDOT-AuNPs-ERGO/GCE) through homogeneous chemical reactions and heterogeneous electrochemical methods. The morphology, composition, and structure of this nanocomposite were characterized by transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy,X-ray diffraction, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The electrochemical properties of the OPEDOT-AuNPs-ERGO/GCE were investigated by cyclic voltammetry using potassium ferricyanide and hexaammineruthenium(Ⅲ) chloride redox probe systems. This modified electrode shows excellent electro-catalytic activity for dopamine (DA) and uric acid (UA) under physiological pH conditions, but inhibits the oxidation of ascorbic acid (AA).Linear voltammetric responses were obtained when DA concentrations of approximately 4.0-100 μM and UA concentrations of approximately 20-100 μM were used. The detection limits (S/N=3) for DA and UA were 1.0 and 5.0 μ.M,respectively, under physiological conditions and in the presence of 1.0 mM of AA.This developed method was applied to the simultaneous detection of DA and UA in human urine, where satisfactory recoveries from 96.7% to 105.0%were observed. This work demonstrates that the developed OPEDOT-AuNPs-ERGO ternary nano-composite,with its excellent ion-selectivity and electro-catalytic activity,is a promising candidate for the simultaneous detection of DA and UA in the presence of AA in physiological and pathological studies.

Objective:To observe the path and anatomic distribution of cutaneous branch of second dorsal metacarpal artery(SDMA) from the back of hand to the web of the fingers, and to explore the feasibility and clinical effect on the transfer of free flap of SDMA.Methods:Between June 2018 and September 2018, with perfusion of red latex, 22 hand specimens were dissected to explore the course, vessel calibre and distribution of cutaneous branches of SDMA, and to discover the existence of an innervation of cutaneous nerve in Department of Hand Surgery of Tangshan Second Hospital. Later on, from February 2019 to July 2020, 2 thumb pulp defects of 2 patients were reconstructed with the free flaps of SDMA. One defect was in the left thumb and the other in the right, both were male and compression injuries. Size of thumb pulp and a skin defect was at 3.5 cm×2.0 cm in 1 patient, and 2.0 cm×2.5 cm in the other. There was no neurovascular injury, but 1 patient had a distal phalangeal fracture and a nail bed laceration. The sizes of the flaps were 3.8 cm×2.3 cm and 2.8 cm×2.5 cm. Functional exercises started from 3 weeks after surgery. Patients attended postoperation follow up regularly by outpatient visit, telephone or internet interviews. Follow-up observations included the appearance, texture, sensory recovery of the flaps and thumb functions. Results:Multiple perforating branches (4-9 branches) were found from SDMA, which distributed in the distal 1/3 of SDMA in the anatomic study. It was found that the outer diameter of SDMA was 0.76 mm±0.25 mm at the intersection of extensor tendon of index finger and that of the digital web artery was 0.71 mm±0.12 mm. The length of digital web artery was 11.00 mm±1.27 mm. The 2 surgically transferred flaps were all survived. One patient showed the function of thumb in excellent with two-point discrimination (TPD) at 7.0 mm, at 18 months of follow-up. The other patient showed good thumb movement, soft and elastic skin of the flap and with a 7.5 mm in TPD, at 15 months of follow-up. According to the Evaluation Standard of Upper Limb Partial Functional of Hand Surgery of Chinese Medical Association, the results of the 2 flaps were all excellent. Conclusion:The flap of SDMA has a constant cutaneous nerve and a long vascular pedicle with an ideal vessel size. It is suitable for free transfer and can be used to reconstruct soft tissue defects of thumb.

Objective:To study the clinicopathological characteristics, treatment and prognosis in lupus nephritis (LN) patients with renal thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA), so as to provide more theoretical basis for clinicians to recognize and treat this disease. Methods:The clinical data of LN patients who underwent renal biopsy in the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from January 1, 2012 to May 31, 2019 were retrospectively collected and analyzed. According to renal clinicopathological examination, the patients were divided into renal TMA group and non-renal TMA group. The clinical data, laboratory examination, renal pathological examination, therapeutic measures and prognostic between the two groups were compared. Follow-up end points were defined as composite ends, including all-cause death, entry into end-stage renal disease, and estimated glomerular filtration rate decrease>50% of baseline. Kaplan-Meier survival curve and log-rank test were used to compare the difference of survival rate between the two groups, and multivariate Cox regression equation was used to analyze the risk factors of endpoint events in LN patients. Results:A total of 1 133 patients with LN were enrolled in this study. Patients with renal TMA were more likely to have hypertension ( χ2=16.310, P<0.001), higher baseline serum creatinine ( Z=-6.918, P<0.001) and 24-hour urine protein ( Z=-2.232, P=0.026), and higher renal pathology activity index (AI) score ( Z=1.957, P=0.001)and chronic index (CI) score ( Z=1.836, P=0.002). The proportions of hormone shock ( P<0.001) and plasma exchange ( P<0.001) in the renal TMA group were higher than those in non-renal TMA group. After treatment of (12±2) months, patients in the renal TMA group had a lower complete response rate ( χ2=10.455, P=0.001) and a higher non-response rate ( χ2=6.047, P=0.014) than those in non-renal TMA group, and were associated with worse prognosis (Log-rank test χ2=26.490, P<0.001). Renal TMA was an independent risk factor for poor prognosis ( HR=2.347, 95% CI 1.210-4.553, P=0.012). Conclusions:Compared with LN patients without renal TMA, LN patients with renal TMA are more likely to have hypertension, with higher serum creatinine, 24-hour urinary protein, AI and CI, suggesting poorer treatment response and renal prognosis. Moreover, renal TMA is an independent risk factor for poor prognosis in patients with LN.

Objective:To explore the value of echo-planar imaging correction (EPIC) for improving image quality of diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) of cervical cord. Methods:A total of 33 subjects (20 males, 13 females) were scanned on a 3.0 T MR scanner from January to March 2022, and the sequences included T 1WI, DWI and DTI (with and without corrections). Two observers delineated the regions of interest (ROIs) on the fused images of DWI and DTI with T 1WI before and after correction, and measured the average diffusion coefficient (ADC), fractional anisotropy (FA), and offset distance of ROIs between images with and without corrections. The subjective scores of image quality were also evaluated. The ICC or Kappa was used to test the consistency of the quantitative measurement and subjective scores by the two observers. The average values by the two observers would be used for subsequent analysis. The independent pair t-test and Wilcoxon test were used for comparison of objective measurements and Mann-Whitney U test was used for subjective image assessments between images with and without corrections. Results:The measurement data and the subjective scores of the two observers were in good agreement (ICC 0.912-0.999, Kappa 0.778-0.816). The independent sample t-test showed the subjective scores were significantly different for the DWI and DTI images between before and after geometry and/or ADC corrections. The ADC values of C6, the offset distances measured by DWI before and after correction of C4, C5, and C6 and subjective scores were significantly different ( P<0.05); The FA values of C1 and C3, ADC values of C1 and C3, offset distance of C4, C5 and C6 measured by DTI before and after correction and subjective scores were statistically significant ( P<0.001). Conclusion:EPI geometry correction and ADC value correction can significantly reduce geometric distortion, increase image quality, and thus improve the diagnosis accuracy of essential diseases.
