1.Progress in the role of steroids in Kawasaki disease therapy
International Journal of Pediatrics 2013;40(4):367-370
Kawasaki disease(KD) is the most common reason for acquired heart disease in children, which is closely related to autoimmune response and the release of cytokines in vascular endothelial cells.Steroids are strongly effective in countering inflammation as well as immune response. In the time of being,it has become a hot spot that steroids play an important role in the initial treatment for acute KD and for incomplete and refractory KD.
2.Kawasaki disease and allergic diseases
International Journal of Pediatrics 2012;39(3):234-236
Kawasaki disease (KD) is one of the most common causes of acquired heart disase in children, the development of which is closely related to the allergic diseases.Recent studies have manifested that the incidence of allergic diseases in children with KD is far higher than that in those children without KD.Meanwhile, the morbidity of KD in allergic children is significantly higher than that in those who do not have family medical history of allergic diseases.By far,the mechanisms causing interaction between KD and allergic diseases still remain unclear.Possible mechanisms include IgE-meditated immune response, release of large quantity of cytokines and inflammatory meditators as well as atopic family history.
5.The application of low dose CT with automatic tube current modulation in the diagnosis of pneumoconiosis
Chinese Journal of Postgraduates of Medicine 2014;37(9):13-15
Objective To explore the feasibility and application value of low dose CT with automatic tube current modulation (ATCM) in the diagnosis of pneumoconiosis. Methods Forty-five patients with pneumoconiosis confirmed by the occupational agency underwent standard dose CT scanning with a fixed tube current of 150 mA and low dose CT scanning with ATCM (50-200 mA) with noise index (NI) of 14.The CT dose index volume (CTDIvol) and dose length product (DLP) under the different scanning condition were recorded. The image quality, specific image manifestations of pneumoconiosis (shadow size, shadow concentration, pneumoconiosis stages) were reviewed in double-blind methods by two radiologists, and the statistical analysis was performed. Results CT characteristics of pneumoconiosis could be detected efficiently with low dose CT scanning with ATCM.There were no significant differences in showing the shadow size, shadow concentration, pneumoconiosis stages and the image quality between the two groups (P>0.05).The CTDIvol and DLP of standard dose CT scanning were 13.53 mGy and (337.13 ± 13.53) mGy/cm respectively, and CTDIvol and DLP of low dose CT scanning with ATCM were (7.39 ± 0.45) mGy and (188.78 ± 1.80) mGy/cm,there were statistical differences (P < 0.05).Conclusions Low dose CT scanning with ATCM can reflect the characteristics of pneumoconiosis, and it also can significantly reduce the radiation dose with diagnostic acceptability of the image quality. So low dose CT scanning with ATCM can replace the standard dose CT scan in diagnosing and screening of the pneumoconiosis.
6.Glial microenvironment and repair in central nervous system injury
International Journal of Cerebrovascular Diseases 2010;18(2):151-156
Central nervous system (CNS) injury, including brain injury and spinal cord injury, has higher disability and mortality. Therefore, CNS injury repair has been a research emphasis and focus in the field of neuroscience. The limited neurons intrinsic regenerative capacity in adult mammalians is one of the reasons of regeneration difficulties after CNS injury. However, the more important reason is the formation of inhibitive glial microenvironment at the local lesion sites. This article reviews the roles of all types of cells, such as astrocyte, microglia, taxi oligodendroglia in gtial microenvironment in CNS injury repair.
7.Clinical analysis for patients with severe chronic emphysema treated by lung volume reduction surgery
Chinese Journal of General Practitioners 2009;8(7):461-463
Objective To study effectiveness and safety of lung volume reduction surgery(LVRS) in treatment for severe chronic emphysema(chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). Methods Clinical data of 24 patients of severe chronic emphysema undergone with LVRS during January 2004 to June 2007 were analyzed retrospectively.LVRS was performed for the patients after respiratory tract preparation based on their pulmonary function, results of blood gas analysis, cardiac function,as well as physical activity capacity.and surgical incision Was selected based on"target"location of emphysema with chest computerized tomography and isotope lung perfusion scanning,22 cases with standard unilateral LVRS via outer post-lateral incision and two with bilateral LVRS via mid-sternal incison.A linear device for cutting and stitching was used in surgical operation to excise the lung tissues of severe emphysema with strips of bovine pericardium to prevent air leakage. Results All the patients were followed-up for 19 months in average and complications occurred in seven of them after operation, including four with leakage of the alveoli.two with cardiac arrhythmia and one with pneumonia, and no death was observed.Pulmonary function and symptoms of dyspnea improved obviously in all the patients after operation, and they all could care for themselves,in general, with scales of dyspnea increased to grade Ⅰ in one case,to grade Ⅱ in 10 cases and to grade Ⅲ in three cases. Conclusions LVRS can improve pulmonary function of selected patients with severe emphysema,to certain extent, and its safety will depend on strict selection of the patients and correct peri-operative care.
8.Optimal fields and dose of postoperative radiation in esophageal carcinoma
Journal of International Oncology 2011;38(1):48-51
Among esophageal cancer patients who had undergone radical surgery, the overall 5-year survival rate ranges from 20% to 30%. Postoperative radiotherapy is important adjunctive and remedial treatment. However, currently, there is no clear consensus on the indication of postoperative radiotherapy, the optimal radiation fields and dose. We review and summarize the relevant studies for clinical references.
9.Observation of Tianwang Buxin Decoction in the Treatment of Heart Yin Deficiency Type of Generalized Anxiety Disorder
Journal of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University 2014;(8):976-978
Objective] To observe the clinical effects of Tianwang Buxin decoction in the treatment of heart Yin deficiency type of Generalized Anxiety Disorder. [Methods] 63 patients with Generalized Anxiety Disorder(heart Yin deficiency type) were randomly divided into three groups: Tianwang Buxin decoction group, paroxetine group, Tianwang Buxin decoction combined paroxetine group, course of treatment for 8weeks.Contrast the scores of three groups by HAMA before and after treatment. [Results] The clinical efficacy was almost the same among the three groups without significant difference, but the decrease of HAMA scores of Tianwang Buxin decoction combined paroxetine group was obviously lower than Tianwang Buxin decoction group and paroxetine group(P<0.05), among which, TCM group and combination group of TCM and WM had less side effect than WM group. [Conclusion]The clinical efficacy of Tianwang Buxin decoction group is almost the same with the paroxetine group without significant difference. The clinical efficacy of Tianwang Buxin decoction combined paroxetine group is more significant.
