1.Application of genomics and proteomics in study of traditional Chinese medicine
Journal of Integrative Medicine 2004;2(5):323-5
The technique of genomics and proteomics is one of the fastest developments with the farest-reaching consequences in the high and new biotechnology in the world of today. It can be used to screen the target molecules of the action of traditional Chinese medicines, to identify the new effective components from traditional Chinese medicines, and to explore the mechanisms of the effects of traditional Chinese medicines. It meets the shortcomings of the conventional methodology being applied in the current studies of traditional Chinese medicine. Application of the theories and technique of genomics and proteomics in the study of traditional Chinese medicine would be of great significance for opening new research field of traditional Chinese medicine, for facilitating the integration of traditional Chinese medicine and modern biological science and technology, and for promoting the internationalization of traditional Chinese medicine.
2.Supplementing Qi and activating blood circulation in gene regulation of vascular smooth muscle cells.
Journal of Integrative Medicine 2003;1(1):12-4
According to the theory of traditional Chinese medicine, blood stasis is a main pathological mechanism in the development of vascular diseases. Supplementing Qi and activating blood circulation, as the therapeutic principle for the blood stasis, has been adapted. Studies demonstrated that the supplementing Qi and activating blood circulation recipe could regulate the expression of vasoactive peptides in vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs). The recipe inhibited the formation of neointima following arterial intimal lesions through down-regulating expression of proliferation-related genes and phenotypic modulation of VSMCs. The recipe also markedly inhibited the adhesion and migration of VSMCs and matrix remodelling by means of a mechanism that balances extracellular matrix turnover rate. The purpose of this review is to summarize the recent advances made in our understanding of new functions for the recipe in regulating VSMCs behaviours and their microenvironment relevant to vascular diseases and maintaining proper homeostasis.
3.Advances in The Research of Diseases Related to Notch Signaling Pathway
Progress in Biochemistry and Biophysics 2006;0(12):-
Notch signaling pathway plays a vital role in cell fate decisions. Notch signals are transferred among adjacent cells through Notch receptors and their ligands, which can regulate differentiation, proliferation and apoptosis of many cell types including stem cells. They can also influence organ formation and morphopoiesis. Genetic mutations in the Notch signaling pathway are related to the emergence and development of many diseases. Notch signaling pathway is increasingly becoming important drug targets for cancer, hereditary disease such as CADASIL and other related diseases. It is also used to develop stem cell therapeutics to treat age or trauma related degenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson disease and diabetes.
4.Prevention of CD4~+T cell-mediated graft-versus-host disease by CD4~+CD25~+T regulatory cells
Chinese Journal of Immunology 1986;0(04):-
Objective:To investigate if CD4~+CD25~+ regrating T cells can suppress GVHD mediated by CD4~+ T cells in murine semi-allogeneic bone marrow transplantation model and try to figure out the mechanisms evolved.Methods:C3H(H-2~k) as donors, C3H?B6(H-2~ k/b) F1(recipients) were lethally irradiated and reconstituted with antibody T cell depleted bone marrow(ATBM), and divided into 4 groups: (A)No further treatment(n=10);(B)Infused 5?10~5 C3H CD4~+T cells(CD4,n=10);(C)Infused 5?10~5 CD4~+CD25~+Treg(CD25,n=5);(D)Infused 5?10~5 CD4~+T cells plus 5?10~5 CD4~+CD25~+Treg(CD4/CD25,n=6).Results:All mice in ATBM group, CD25 group and CD4/CD25 groups survived until 60 days without any GVHD symptoms, while all mice in CD4 group died in 10 days from GVHD.Conclusion:CD4~+CD25~+Treg cells did not cause GVHD and can prevent GVHD mediated by CD4~+ T cells while co-injected with CD4~+ T cells.
5.Nosocomial Infection in Preterm Infants:A Clinical Analysis of Its Correlative Factors
Chinese Journal of Nosocomiology 2006;0(08):-
OBJECTIVE To explore the correlative fators of nosocomial infections of preterm infants and decrease the infections rate of preterm infants.METHODS A retrospective analysis of nosocomial infection was made among preterm infants in our hospital from Jan 1998 to Dec 2005.RESULTS The incidence rate of nosocomial infections of preterm infants was 12.28%.The most infection site was respiratory tract.Small gestational age,low birth weight and birth asphyxia were the risk factors of nosocomial infections.CONCLUSIONS Intensive care of preterm infants and rational use of antibiotics are effective methods to decrease the rate of nosocomial infections.
6.Noninvasive Positive Pressure Ventilation for Stable Patients with Advanced Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (review)
Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice 2013;19(9):853-855
The addition of long-term noninvasive positive pressure ventilation (NPPV) to a pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) program in stable patients with advanced chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) can enhance the effects of PR, continuely improve exercise tolerance and dyspnea, stabilize pulmonary function, enhance health-related quality of life. Moreover, it maybe improve the prognosis of the patients with COPD. This article introduced the implement of the combination of PR and NPPV in stable patients with advanced COPD.
8.Metagenomics:New Strategy for Soil Microbiology Research
Xu-Guang NIU ; Mei HAN ;
Microbiology 1992;0(03):-
Most of the soil microorganisms are unculturable, which limits the exploitation and application of microbial resources.Metagenomics has great potential in the research of unculturable microorganisms in soil.Progress on the research of metagenomic DNA purification, metagenomic library construction and screening of soil microorganisms are reviewed briefly.
