Chinese Journal of Hospital Administration 2011;27(5):355-358
The study focused on tertiary public hospitals in Hangzhou, investigating the comments of both hospitals workers and foreigners in the city with questionnaires and literature search. The foilowing four problems were identified in the study in the foreigner medical services in Hangzhou:Communication barriers between doctors and foreign patients, insufficient communication of medical service information, poor service environment and service attitude, and payment mechanism for medical insurance and charges. On such basis, the authors recommended policy changes for the government to improve foreigner-oriented medical services, including building the regulations up to intemational customs for medical services, reforms in the payment system, medical insurance management,as well as planning and promotions of foreigner-related service institutions, and management strategies for key elements within the hospital

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of herbs for replenishing yin to tonify kidney on testicular ultrastructural changes in rats with glucocorticoid-induced kidney deficiency. METHODS: Thirty rats were randomized into three groups: normal control group, untreated group and Erdi Biejia Decoction (EDBJD)-treated group. Kidney deficiency rat model was induced by glucocorticoid. Testicular structure and ultrastructure were observed under the light microscope and the transmission electron microscope. RESULTS: The light microscope revealed the decreased thickness of seminiferous epithelium layer, reduced number of spermatogenic cells, interstitial tissue edema, and a qualitative reduction in the number of interstitial cells and hematoxylin-eosin stained cytoplasm in the untreated group. The transmission electron microscope revealed loose structure of seminiferous epithelium, degenerative mitochondria, and increased amounts of lysosome, presence of numerous cytoplasmic vacuolation and chromatin in interstitial cell cytoplasm in the untreated group. The aggregates of heterochromatin around the nuclear membrane and the shrinkage of nucleus were also observed. Compared to the untreated group, these pathological changes were inconspicuous in EDBJD-treated group. CONCLUSION: EDBJD as replenishing yin to tonify kidney herbs can suppress glucocorticoid induced pathological changes in the testes of rats.

To meet community demands with optimal Chinese and conventional medical treatment, the University of Hong Kong is promoting integrative medicine by developing Chinese medicine programmes that train students of both Western and Chinese medicine. The programmes emphasize multi-disciplinary training and interaction between the two therapeutic approaches, enabling students to establish reliable, consistent, and respectful mutual cooperation in their future careers.

Objective:To evaluate the profile of mood state-short form (POMS-SF) in Chinese cancer patients. Methods:289 cancer patients were randomly assigned to experimental or control group, both groups were assessed three times (pre-, on-and post-treatment ). 385 normal people were also completed the questionnaire. Results:The correlation between the items and the TMD of the scale ranged from 0.36~0.81 (P

Chinese Journal of Nosocomiology 2009;0(18):-
OBJECTIVE To study the antibiotic resistance of Staphylococcus isolated from the burn patient wounds. METHODS The sensitivity to 14 common antimicrobial agents was deteded by K-B method. MRSA and MRCNS were detected by cefoxitin disk;the inducible resistance to clindamycin was detected by D-test. RESULTS There were 378 strains of Staphylococcus isolated from the burn patient wounds. The isolation rates of Staphylococcus epidermidis,S. aureus and S. haemolyticus were 43.1%,41.6% and 11.1%. Antibiotic resistance rate to vancomycin, teicoplanin, minocycline, rifapin and nitrofurantoin was 0.0-19.0%,the resistance rate to other antibiotics was 54.1-100.0%. The detection rate of MRSA was 81.5%,the detection rate of MRCNS among S. epidermidis and S. haemolyticus was 55.6% and 66.7%. The total positive rate of D-test was 48.2% in Staphylococcus which were sensitive to clindamycin but resistant to erythromycin. The positive rate of S. aureus,S. epidermidis and S. haemolyticus were 49.1%,44.2% and 57.1%. CONCLUSIONS Staphylococcus are ones of the important pathogens which make burn wound infection happen and the antimicrobial resistance is increasingly severe. The high positive results of MRSA and D-test make great trouble to therapy, and that should have taken more attention of clinic.

Objective To investigate the protective effect of prostaglandin E1 (PGE1) on platelet during cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB).Methods A total of 24 patients undergoing cardiac valve replacement were randomly divided into the experimental group (n=12) and the control group (n=12).The levels of thromboxane B2 (TXB2) and 6-keto-prostaglandin F1?(6-K-PGF1?) in serum were measured at different intervals during and after CPB. The ultrastructure of platelets was also observed by transmission electron microscope. Results The levels of TXB2 and 6-K-PGF1? during CPB were significantly higher than those before CPB in the both groups(P

Journal of Integrative Medicine 2014;12(3):131-134
For thousands of years, moxibustion has been used for various diseases in China and other Asian countries. Despite the recent surge in Chinese herbal studies, few randomized controlled trials have been conducted on this modality, possibly due to the lacking of suitable double blinding methodology. This is a review of extant sham moxa devices and an introduction to a recently developed device that needs further validation.

Objective To understand the current status of Toxoplasma gondii(TOX)infection among pregnant women and to explore the risk factors in some areas of Lhasa City,Tibet. Methods From 2015 to 2016,3 districts(counties)of Lhasa City were chosen as the investigation sites, and 200 pregnant women in each district(county)were selected as the investigation objectives. Meanwhile,450 pregnant women from Xuzhou,Yangzhou,Wuxi cities in Jiangsu Province were chosen as the con?trol. Then the blood samples of the pregnant women both in Lhasa and Jiangsu were detected by ELISA for TOX antibodies IgG , IgM,and the detection results were analyzed and compared. In addition, the individual information of the pregnant women in Lhasa City was surveyed by questionnaires, and the related risk factors of TOX infection were analyzed. Results Among 600 pregnant women investigated in Lhasa City, there were 99 pregnant women with positive TOX antibodies, and the positive rate was 16.50%,which was significantly higher than that(5.11%)of the pregnant women in Jiangsu Province(P<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference among the 3 districts(counties)of Lhasa City in the positive rates of pregnant women (P>0.05). The positive rates of the women who preferred raw meat or had the intimate contact with animal were high. Conclu?sions Compared with Jiangsu Province, the infection rate of TOX among pregnant women in Lhasa City is high. Therefore, the comprehensive measures including health education, early examination and treatment should be taken actively,so as to prevent and control TOX infection in this area.
