Objective To study the initial and the follow-up manifestations of infants with Langerhans’ cell histiocytosis (LCH) and evaluate the relationship between X-ray manifestations and clinical prognosis. Methods The radiological manifestations were analysed in 22 cases of LCH proved by clinical features, laboratory data, and pathology. According to Lavin’s Grade, the 22 cases were classified as Grade I (9 cases), Grade II (9 cases), and Grade III (4 cases). Plain radiography was performed in all cases during the initial and the follow-up,including cranial bones, chest, long bones, and spine. CT was performed in 12 cases. Results Of the 22 cases, there were 7 cases which lesions were limited to bones. 5 of them were demonstrated with ossification and remodeling of the involved bone after chemotherapy.The remaining 15 cases were associated with multi-systemic involvements, only 4 of which improved after chemotherapy. Among these 15 cases, 7 had lung involvement, only 2 of which had gotten better. Hypothalamus/pituitary axis was affected in 1 case. Conclusion The extension of the bone involvement can reflect LCH clinical prognosis. However,the lung involvement of LCH, which mainly presented with interstitial lesion, is not sensitive for the evaluation of clinical situation.LCH with limited bone destructions have a better prognosis than those with the multi-systemic involvements.

OBJECTIVE To discuss the effect of the central sterilization and supply center in controlling the infection in hospital.METHODS Eliminated the old supply pattern,to implement centralized management for the supply office.The whole sterilization and supply center was rebuilded according to the standard,cleared the function,standardized the procedure and strengthened the management.RESULTS The centralized sterilization and supply center could form effective and standard circulatory system for cleaneiness,sterilization and antiseptic,and ensure the quality of disinfectants.CONCLUSIONS The centralized sterilization and supply center is better to the management and control of quality, it can reduce the pollution,simplify operational procedures,reduce hospital infection,and realize the zero flaw of aseptic goods.

Objective To evaluate the clinical significance of telomerase in the diagnosis of lung cancerusing SROC curve method.Methods Looking“telomerase”and“lung cancer”as keywords,retrieving journalspublished within past 20 years in order to incorporate into literatures and to collect data .To conduct the SROC analysisusing Meta -DiSc 1.4 software.Results 1.Twenty -two documents were sampled as tissue specimensand the heterogeneity was relatively large (P =0.017).To analyze the data with random effective models ,thecombined sensitivity and specificity were 0.788(0.761 -0.814)and 0.955(0.936 -0.969),respectively.TheSROC AUC area under the curve was 0.9515,SE(AUC) =0.0145.2.There was no heterogeneity(P =0.633)amongthe 10 lavaged literatures.By use of fixed effects model for data analysis ,the combined sensitivity and specificitywere 0.777(0.734 -0.816) and 0.922(0.888 -0.948),and SROC AUC area under the curve was0.9369,SE(AUC) =0.0141.Conclusion Telomerase is a ideal tumor marker,and the detection of telomeraseactivity in lavage fluid is stable and accurate in clinical diagnosis .

Objective: To analyze the status quo of assanation and ethics courses and their social requirement, thus to explore a scientific mode for the course setting; Method: The course setting status quo of assanation and ethics is analyzed among 18 colleges in which the nursing speciality is set up. A questionnaire was also conducted to investigate students' inclination towards politics-sorted courses, and relevant data were analyzed. Results: The establishing rate of assanation courses in the higher professional colleges is higher than that in the comprehensive universities. The most favorable subjects among freshmen are the Chinese national political theories, and assanation & ethics, while the counterparts among seniors are assanation & ethics, law basis, and philosophy. BACKGROUND: Traumatic osteoarthritis (OA) resulted from the injury of joints and postoperation of joints is commonly observed. Intra-articular injection of sodium hyaluronate (Na-HA) has been considered as effective method for OA. OBJECTIVE: To observe the influence of intra-articular injection of NaHA on mRNA expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) in cartilage of traumatic OA induced by transection of anterior cruciate ligament. DESIGN: Randomized controlled animal experiment. SETTING: Department of Orthopaedics, Renmin Hospital, Wuhan Uni ersity. MATERIALS: The experiment was performed in Laboratory of Depart ment of Orthopaedics, Renmin Hospital, Wuhan University from April to December 2003, in which, 16 clean healthy flat-eared white rabbits, aged 5-6 months were employed. The rabbits were randomly divided into Na- HA injection group and saline control group with 8 rabbits in each group. Na-HA (2000, No 366095) was provided by Shanghai Jiahua Fine Biologi- cal Products Co. METHODS: ①OA model was established in rabbits of the two groups. Each rabbit was anesthetized intravenously with 1.0 mg/kg ketamine hy- drochloride and underwent unilateral anterior cruciate ligament transection. ②5 weeks after transection, Na-HA injection group rabbits received 0.3 mL of intra-articular 10 g/L Na-HA injection, once a week for 5 weeks. Ani mals in saline controlled group were treated with saline of the same vol ume. ③The rabbits were killed at week 10 after operation, general morphology and histopathological changes of articular cartilage degeneration of medial femoral condyle were evaluated (0 points as smooth articular surface with normal color and luster; 1 point as minimal fibrillation or a slight crevice and dark grey color of the surface; 2 points as erosion extending into superficial or middle layers of cartilage; 3 points as ulceration and erosion extending into the deep layers, and 4 points as denudation of cartilage, erosion extending to the sub-chondral bone). The mRNA expression of iNOS in cartilages was examined with reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: ①Observation of articular cartilage degeneration of medial femoral condyle, ②observation of articular cartilage degeneration of medial femoral condyle at light microscopic level, ③expression of iNOS in cartilages of each group. RESULTS: A total of 16 clean healthy rabbits entered the result analysis. ① Result of articular cartilage degeneration of medial femoral condyle: Pathological change of articular surface of femoral condyle was observed under anatomic microscope. Cartilage degradation in experimental group was significantly less severe than that in saline control group. ②Histological changes of articular cartilage degeneration of medial femoral condyle at light microscopic level: The Na-HA injection group showed cartilage changes: Membrane of cartilage presented denaturalization and abscission. Chondrocytes of superficial zone presented denaturalization, necrosis, turbulence and erosion. Animals treated with saline showed denaturalization, necrosis and disorder of chondrocytes, ulceration penetrating into the middle or deep zone of the cartilage. New hyperplasia of capillary vessels and fibroblasts were more obvious. Proliferation of fibrous tissue appeared at the bottom of ulcer. ③Expression of iNOS in cartilages of two group:The gene expression of iNOS in cartilage of Na-HA injection group was(1.09±0.18) and the expression of saline control group was (1.26±0.23). Nosignificant difference of iNOS expression was found between the two groups(P ＞ 0.05).CONCLUSION: Intra-articular injection of Na-HA has protective and repairing effect on cartilage with early OA and can significantly reduce the severity of cartilage degradation during early stage of traumatic OA. Intra-articular injection of Na-HA does not down-regulated iNOS expression in cartilage.

Objective To investigate MRI features for differentiating borderline from benign mucinous cystadenoma ( MC )of the ovary.Methods Twenty three patients with 23 benign MCs and 19 patients with 20 borderline mucinous cystadenomas (BMC)proven by surgery and pathology underwent MRI,with 23 benign MCs and 20 BMC. MRI features of tumor were evaluated and compared between two groups including location,shape,size,loculation,signal intensity of the fluid,thickness of septa and wall,and vegetations.The findings were correlated with those of pathology.The loculation,the signal intensity of the intracystic content,the thickness of the septation and the wall,and the vegetations between the benign MCs and the BMCs were compared using the Chi-square test.ResultsHomogenous low signal on T1WI and homogenous high signal on T2WI were the main signal patterns of benign MC seen more commonly in benign MC (18/23 and 17/23,respectively) than in BMC (5/20 and 8/20,respectively) (x2 =12.1979,5.0553 ;P ＜0.05).The honeycomb loculi,high signal on T1 WI,low signal on T2WI,thickened septa or wall ( ≥5 mm),and vegetations ( ≥5 mm) were significantly more common in BMC( 10/20,9/20,8/20,10/20 and 14/20,respectively)than in benign MC(4/23,3/23,1/23,1/23 and 1/23,respectively) (x2 =5.1804,5.4300,8.2163,11.7113 and 20.2990,P ＜ 0.05 ),with the sensitivity and specificity for characterizing BMC of 50.0％ and 82.6％,45.0％ and 87.0％,40.0％ and 95.7％,50.0％ and 95.7％,and 70.0％ and 95.7％,respectively.When one of honeycomb loculi with low signal on T2WI,thickened septa or wall ( ≥5 mm),and vegetations ( ≥5 mm) were found,the sensitivity,specificity and accuracy for characterizing BMC were 90.0％,91.3％ and 90.7％ respectively. Conclusion MRI is accurate for demonstrating morphological features of ovarian MC which well correlated to pathological characteristics,and for differentiating BMC from benign MC,thus helpful for making surgery strategy.

A child case of acute myocardial ischemia induced by symptomatic myocardial bridge (SMB)was reported and relevant literatures were reviewed in this article.The case and literatures indicate that myocardial bridge is a rare congenital coronary artery anomaly in children.The pathogenesis may be related to stenosis,spasm,arteriosclerosis of coronary artery because of myocardial bridge compression during systole.Clinical manifestations include chest pain,malignant arrhythmia,syncope,cardiac arrest and myocardial infarction.The diagnosis of myocardial bridge is based on cardiac imaging.SMB patients should be first treated with β-adrenergic; if ineffective,surgical treatment or implantable automated cardiac defibrillator shonld be chosen.The patients complicated with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy have worse conditions with high mortality.

Objective :The study discussed the relationship between the cell differentiation and its func-tion differentiation of enamel organ durrng the development of enamel ,explained the meaning of shape andfunction of SA and RA in the mature enameloblasts. Methods:The rats were fixed with pouring hearts ,em-bed with Epon and GMA resin,made semi-thin slice ,stained with toluidine blue and histochemistry, thenwe observed the changes of histomorphology and the law of distribution of enamel. Results:The develop-memt of tooth germ of rat incisor could be divided into proliferation stage, difference stage and maturestage. Enameloblasts expressed special periodic changes in mature stage :SA legion and RA legion present-ed altermately. Histochemical study indicated that most of amelogenin stayed in enamel matrix and othersdiffused to dentin, dental tube and odontoblast layer. Conclusion: (1) The proliferation stage, differencestage and mature stage of tooth of development of enamel organ in rat were similar to the bud stage ,capstage and bell stage of human being. There was a relationship between the RA legion in mature enam-eloblast and mineral substance pouring into them. RA legion was presented because water and protein lost.)That amelogenin spread into dentin could promote the odontoblast differentiation and induce dentin calci-fication.

AIM:To investigate the effect of exogenous epidermal growth factor(EGF) on expression of EGFR and EGF mRNA of the injuried lung tissue of neonatal premature rats exposed to hyperoxia.METHODS:The neonatal Sprague-Dawley rats of 21-day gestational age model of hyperoxia induced lung injury were made by continually inhaling 95% oxygen.The model rats were divided into two groups randomly,the EGF trail group and the NS control group.The other rats were taken into the air control group.Each group was divided into three subsets:a(1-3 days),b(4-6 days) and c(1-6 days) according to different application times of EGF or NS.Rats in sub groups were executed and the lung tissues were removed at postnatal 3th,7th,14th day respectively.Using immunohistochemistry method,the expression of EGF-R of lung tissues in different groups was observed,and the expression of EGF mRNA was determined by reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR).RESULTS:The expression of EGF mRNA increased by degrees following the increasing postnatal days.Compared with the air control group,the expression of EGF-R and EGF mRNA increased in the hyperxia group at 7th day and 14th day.The expression of EGF-R increased in corresponding hyperxia NS control group at 14th day(P

Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of combined detection of VCA-IgA and Rta-IgG in the diagnosis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma.Methods From May 2013 to November 2014, 3 913 serum samples(male 2 367,female 1 546) from healthy people who had health examination in our medical center were collected and 169 serum samples(male 118,female 51) were collected from the patients who were diagnosed as nasopharyngeal carcinoma by pathological biopsy.Serum samples in two groups were detected by EBV RTA-IgG, VCA-IgA assay ( ELISA ) respectively.SPSS17.0 statistical software and receiver operating characteristic curve ( ROC) were applied to data analysis.Results The Rta-IgG positive rates of EB virus were 93.5%in NPC group (158/169) and 2.4%(93/3 913) in healthy group;while the VCA-IgA positive rates were 79.3%in NPC group ( 134/169 ) and 8.9% ( 349/3 913 ) in healthy group. The sensitivity(χ2 =14.49,P<0.05) and specificity(χ2 =157.15,P<0.05) of Rta-IgG in the diagnosis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma were significantly better than that of VCA-IgA. Using VCA-IgA/Rta-IgG combined detection analysis, not only failed to effectively improve the diagnosis of nasopharyngeal cancer, but to reduce the detection sensitivity to 72.8%( 123/169 ) , compared with Rta-IgG detection only. Conclusions Rta-IgG is significantly better than that of VCA-IgA.There was no significant improvement in the clinical diagnostic efficacy of nasopharyngeal carcinoma using VCA-IgA/Rta-IgG combined detection mode.
