Objective To provide molecular genetic basis for oncobiological difference in left sided colon cancer and right sided colon cancer. Differentially expressed proteins in left sided colon cancer and right sided colon cancer were screened by proteomic technique. Methods Tissue samples including left sided colon cancer and right sided colon cancer were collected and preserved in the -80℃ refrigerator. In the first part of our experiment, protein was separated by 2-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2-DE) and the images of the gels were acquired by the scanner and then analyzed to find the differentially expression protein-spots in different groups. The peptide mass fingerprintings (PMF) was acquired by matrix assisted laser desorptiorn/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF-MS) and the proteins were identified by data searching in the Mascotdatabase. Differentially expressed proteins were assayed by RT-PCR, Western blot, and immunohistochemical method. Results Altogether 55 differentially expressed protein spots were screened and 21 spots of them were identified. Compared with the right sided colon cancer, 14 proteins were up-regulated and 7 proteins down-regulated including HSP27 in the left sided colon cancer. HSP27 expressed higher in the right sided colon cancer than in the left sided colon cancer. Conclusion There are differentially expressed proteins in left sided colon cancer and right sided colon cancer, especially difference in HSP27 expression at mRNA and protein level, which may be molecular genetic basis for oncobiological difference in left sided colon cancer and right sided colon cancer.

To investigate the curative effect of electroacupuncture on luteinized unruptured follicle syndrome(LUFS) and its mechanism. Methods:Sixty LUFS patients were randomly allocated to treatment (electroacupuncture) group and control (hCG) group. The follicular condition and ovarian arterial flow under color Doppler ultrasonogaphy and a change in reproductive endocrine level were observed in the patients before and after treatments. The ovulation rates and pregnancy rates were compared between the two groups, and the mechanism was investigated. Results:Both ovulation rate and pregnancy rate were significantly higher in the treatment group than in the control group (P<0.01). There was a significant difference in the improvement in ovarian arterial flow between the treatment and control groups (P<0.01). The improvement in endocrine level was significantly more marked in the treatment group than in the control group(P<0.01). Conclusion:Electroacupuncture has a good effect on luteinized unrupture follicle syndrome. Its mechanism may be related to the improvement in ovarian arterial blood supply and the regulation of endocrine level.

Chinese Journal of Plastic Surgery 2017;33(3):175-179
Objective:
To investigate an effective method for solving the venous stasis in reverse peri-auricular flap pedicled on the frontal branch of superficial temporal artery(STA).
Methods:
From October 2013 to May 2016, 5 patients with peri-orbital defects were reconstructed with a retrograde flap pedicled on the frontal branch of STA that incorporated additional venous anastomosis. The additional venous anastomosis was created between the parietal branch of STV (superficial temporal vein) and the middle temporal vein. The defects at donor sites were directly sutured.
Results:
The size of flaps ranged from 2 cm×2 cm to 2 cm×8 cm. All flaps survived without venous stasis. Color and texture match of the flap were excellent .In three cases, flaps were thinned in secondary operation. During the follow-up period(6 months to 2 years, average of 12.4 months), flaps survived well on early period. Excellent color and tissue match with peri-orbital tissue were achieved on later stage. The scar at the donor site was inconspicuous.
Conclusions
Retrograde island flaps pedicled on the frontal branch of superficial temporal artery with vein anastomosis has the advantages of robust blood supply, good texture, and color match, and acceptable donor mobidity, while avoiding the venous stasis and flap necrosis.

OBJECTIVETo assess the clinical value ofprocalcitonin in cirrhotic patients with severe infection by comparing the serum procalcitonin levels in those patients with and without liver cirrhosis when suffering from sepsis.
METHODSA total of 225 septic patients were included in the study, including 91 patients without hepatopathy, 80 patients with cirrhosis, and 54 patients with chronic liver disease. The serum procalcitonin level was measured in all patients and statistically assessed for correlation with relevant clinical biochemistry indicators. The t-test, ANOVA test, Mann-Whitney U test, chi-square test and Spearman's correlation analysis were used for statistical analyses.
RESULTSThe patients with cirrhosis showed significantly lower serum procalcitonin levels (0.84 (0.32-3.44) ng/ml) than the patients with no hepatopathy (2.17 (0.70-9.18) ng/ml) or the patients with chronic liver disease (2.12 (0.33-13.61) ng/ml) (both P less than 0.05); the patients in the no hepatopathy group and the chronic liver disease group showed statistically similar levels of serum procalcitonin (P=0.616). The patients with cirrhosis of Child-Pugh grade C showed significantly higher level of serum procalcitonin (1.25 (0.54-4.61) ng/ml) than those patients with Child-Pugh grade B (0.33 (0.14-1.31) ng/ml; P=0.026), suggesting that patients with Child-Pugh C stage cirrhosis may be more susceptible to gram-negative bacterial infection. In the cirrhosis group, serum procalcitonin level was positively correlated with white blood cell (WBC) count (r=0.312) and percentage of neutrophils (N%) (r=0.228) (both P less than 0.05). Correlation analysis of the no hepatopathy group and the chronic liver disease group showed no correlation between serum procalcitonin level and either WBC or N%.
CONCLUSIONUnder the sepsis condition, cirrhotic patients have lower serum procalcitonin level than patients without cirrhosis, and the serum procalcitonin level is positively correlated with WBC count and N%.

Objective To analyze the topological characteristics of the brain structural network in primary angle-closure glaucoma (PACG) patients by applying graph theoretical approaches. Methods From October 2015 to April 2017, nineteen PACG patients and nineteen gender-and age-matched healthy controls (HCs) were enrolled to undergo MRI scan. The whole brain was parceled into 90 regions by automated anatomical labeling template, and the brain structural network was constructed by the fiber distribution of continuous tracking method. Both the weighted and unweighted network analyses were performed. The global and regional properties were computed by graph theoretical analysis. To compare the brain network regional properties between two groups, two-sample t-test was utilized. The correlations between the brain structural network properties and clinical parameters were further analysed. Results Both two groups were found to follow the efficient small-world characteristics. Compared to HCs, the brain structural network in PACG patients showed no statistical significance in the small-worldness, average shortest path, clustering coefficient, global efficiency and local efficiency(P>0.05). Compared to the HCs, the PACG patients showed decreased nodal efficiency in the right superior frontal gyrus, right inferior frontal gyrus, left median cingulate and paracingulate gyri, left amygdala and left cuneus(P<0.05). Compared to HCs, the PACG patients showed decreased node degree in left superior frontal gyrus, medial orbital, right inferior frontal gyrus, left amygdala, left cuneus and left lingual gyrus(P<0.05). Compared with the hub regions in healthy controls'network, we found that two hub regions disappeared. Those hubs were right inferior parietal lobule and left middle temporal gyrus. Node degree in left amygdala showed negatively correlated with visual ability (r=-0.679, P=0.001). Node degree in left lingual gyrus showed negatively correlated with vertical CDR(r=-0.791, P=0.001),which showed positively correlated with visual acuity(r=0.538, P=0.018).Conclusions The brain structural network in PACG patients showed small-worldness properties as HCs group. The alterations of local properties in visual, emotion-cognition brain regions were observed, manifesting that PACG can affect the topology properties of the structural brain network.
