Objective:To explore the characteristics of prevailing factors and their influence on esophageal cancer in Xinjiang. Meth-ods:Patients diagnosed with esophageal cancer from January 2010 to January 2016 were selected from the Xinjiang Medical Universi-ty First Affiliated Hospital and categorized as the patient group. Patients without cancer admitted to the same period were classified as the control group. Case control study and correlation analysis between esophageal cancer and type 2 diabetes were performed. Re-sults:Type 2 diabetes (≥2 years), as a risk factor, is associated with esophageal cancer. The use of insulin (≥2 years) can increase the risk of esophageal cancer. Smoking, drinking, hyperlipidemia, body mass index≥24, and esophageal diverticulum esophageal cancer are also risk factors. Conclusion:The risk factors for esophageal cancer are prevalent among patients with type 2 diabetes patients. In-sulin use is also correlated with the occurrence of esophageal cancer. Further studies must be performed to develop secondary preven-tion for diabetic patients susceptible to esophageal cancer in high-risk subgroups.

Purpose To quantitatively evaluate longitudinal strain and strain rate (SR) of left ventricular (LV) in normal infants and young children using velocity vector imaging (VVI). Materials and Methods A total of 50 normal infants and young children were enrolled in the study. The longitudinal strain peaks and SR peaks in three sections of LV walls during systole period and relaxation period were measured by VVI from apical four-chamber view, apical two-chamber view and long axis view, respectively. Results Forty-one cases (82%) presented a smooth strain curve without incisures and a double peak in SR curve (systolic peak and single diastole peak). The strain in anterior septum and posterior septum, the systolic SRs and diastolic SRs decreased from basal to apical segments. However, only the strain in basal segment and that in apical segment in anterior septum showed statistic difference (t=1.79, P<0.05);the systolic SRs of the same level in different walls and those in the same wall at different levels had no statistic difference (P>0.05). Conclusion Most normal infants and young children present a smooth diastolic strain curve and a double peak SR curve of LV, which can provide clinical guidance in the early diagnosis of myocardial abnormality for infants and young children.

Objective To provide molecular genetic basis for oncobiological difference in left sided colon cancer and right sided colon cancer. Differentially expressed proteins in left sided colon cancer and right sided colon cancer were screened by proteomic technique. Methods Tissue samples including left sided colon cancer and right sided colon cancer were collected and preserved in the -80℃ refrigerator. In the first part of our experiment, protein was separated by 2-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2-DE) and the images of the gels were acquired by the scanner and then analyzed to find the differentially expression protein-spots in different groups. The peptide mass fingerprintings (PMF) was acquired by matrix assisted laser desorptiorn/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF-MS) and the proteins were identified by data searching in the Mascotdatabase. Differentially expressed proteins were assayed by RT-PCR, Western blot, and immunohistochemical method. Results Altogether 55 differentially expressed protein spots were screened and 21 spots of them were identified. Compared with the right sided colon cancer, 14 proteins were up-regulated and 7 proteins down-regulated including HSP27 in the left sided colon cancer. HSP27 expressed higher in the right sided colon cancer than in the left sided colon cancer. Conclusion There are differentially expressed proteins in left sided colon cancer and right sided colon cancer, especially difference in HSP27 expression at mRNA and protein level, which may be molecular genetic basis for oncobiological difference in left sided colon cancer and right sided colon cancer.
