Academic Journal of Second Military Medical University 2010;31(3):233-237
Objective To use numerical simulation for analying hemodynamic changes in intracranial aneurysm with elastic wall, and to analyze the effect of mechanical properties of the aneurysm wall on the hemodynamic changes. Methods Based on the DSA images of a patient with multi-intracranial aneurysm, the numerical simulation of the hemodynamics of the elastic intracinal aneurysm was processed using a software of finite element method of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and the computational fluid-structure interaction analyses. We also investigated the effect of the coupling of hemodynamics and aneurysm wall movement. Results The morphology of the elastic aneurysm underwent deformation, and the angle between aneurysm and parent artery also changed, affecting the inflow jet dispersed into the flow field of aneurysm and the distribution of wall shear stress on the surface of aneurysm. Conclusion The numerical simulation of CFD can directly reflect the hemodynamic characteristics of aneurysms. More accurate elastic wall aneurysm model is needed to improve the quantitative analysis of the hemodynamics of intracranial aneurysms.

Microbiology 1992;0(05):-
Some types of bacteria swim through rotating their flagella. The swimming mechanism of bacteria during flagella bundling and tumble process is analyzed. The effects of body rotation and flagellum′s polymorphic transitions on bundling processes and the wall effect phenomenon are also discussed. Finally, based on dynamics similarity, a new microrobot module is put forward to further studying the flagella swimming phenomena. The research would be very helpful for constructing the bionic swimming robots under the low Reynolds number.

AIM: To explore the frequency of drug injection of alloxan diabetes on the established model of rabbit.METHODS: Thirty-six healthy rabbits, weighing 2-2.5kg, were randomly divided into one time drug injection group (group A, n=12), two times drug injection group (group B, n=12) and three times drug injection group (group C, n=12). Each rabbit was injected with a total amount of 150mg/kg of alloxan. Fasting blood glucose was measured. The success rate and death rate of each group were also calculated.RESULTS: The success rate of diabetic rabbit model in group B was higher than that in group A (P<0.01) and its death rate was lower than that of group A (P<0.01); the success rate of diabetic rabbit model in group C was highest and the death rate was the lowest in three groups(P<0.01). CONCLUSION: Multiple administration of alloxan can improve success rate in establishing diabetic rabbit model with decreased death rate and increased stability.

Objective To identify changes in the occurrence of endemic fluorosis in order to provide scientific basis for making countermeasures. Methods Five villages from 14 counties of mild, moderate and severe fluorosis affected areas were selected by stratified cluster sampling every year in the whole province during 2006 - 2010. Water and urinary fluorine were determined by ion selective electrode method(GB/T 8538-1995); dental fluorosis of children 8-12 years old was diagnosed with Dean method; skeletal fluorosis was diagnosed according to "clinical indexing standards of endemic skeletal fluorosis "(GB 16396-1996), between 2006 and 2008, and "clinical diagnosis standard of endemic skeletal fluorosis"(WS 192-2008) between 2009 and 2010. Results A total of 25 diseased villages were surveyed, 14 with water sources changed, covered a resident population of 8005 people, beneficiary population 7154, and accounting for 89.37% of the resident population; not changed villages 11. In accordance with the "State drinking water health standards", in the 14 changed villages the fluoride in drinking water was qualified (≤ 1.20 mg/L), there were 3 schools whose water fluorine content exceeded the standard; among the 11 villages that did not change water sources 7 drinking water samples fluorine content exceeded the standard. Of the 8 to 12 years old children in villages with changed water sources, 363 of them were checked and 142 dental fluorosis were found, the detection rate of dental fluorosis was 39.12% (142/363); in villages with water sources not changed, 303 children were checked, the detection rate of dental fluorosis was 43.89%(133/303). Of sixteen and elder adults in water source changed villages, 6424 people were checked and 403 skeletal fluorosis were found, skeletal fluorosis detection rate was 6.27% (403/6424); 3572 people were checked in not changed villages, the detection rate of skeletal fluorosis was 13.89%(496/3572). In water sources changed areas, geometric mean of urinary fluoride was in the normal reference value(WS/T 256-2005, 1.40 mg/L)or less. Conclusions Endemic fluorosis is decreased in water improved areas, but in unimproved areas the disease is still severe, and control of endemic fluorosis is still an arduous task.

BACKGROUND: Preliminary study has proven that adult human bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) suppress peripheral blood lymphocytes proliferation. But the mechanism was still to be investigated.OBJECTIVE: To study the negatively regulatory effect of adult human MSCs on allogeneic lymphocyte proliferation by cell-free condition.DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING: Cytological observation in vitro, which was performed in the Lanzhou General Hospital,Lanzhou Military Area Command of Chinese PLA between October 2005 and December 2007.MATERIALS: The bone marrow sample was provided by the allo-transplantation donor. The peripheral blood lymphocytes were provided by the healthy volunteer.METHODS: Adult human MSCs were separated with Percoll + adherence method.Allogeneic peripheral blood lymphocytes were obtained from healthy donors with Ficoll solution and the cell concentration was adjusted as 2×109/L for use.100μ L MSCs culture supernatant was taken out in 96-well plates. The groups were following: A superuatant + 3-day MSCs culture media (100 μ L/well); B superuatant + phytohemagglutini (PHA; 1 g/L,5 μ L); C medium + LG-DMEM culture media containing 10% fetal bovine serum (100 μ L); D medium + PHA (1 g/L,5 μ L).The cells were incubated at 37 ℃ with 5% CO2 in a fully humidified atmosphere for three days.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Effect of MSCs supematant on proliferation and transformation of variant lymphocytes.RESULTS: Peripheral blood lymphocytes proliferation was suppressed as compared with the blank control group and PHA group after MSCs culture, and the inhibition ratio was 9.00% (P < 0.05).When lymphocytes were stimulated by PHA,the suppression effects were even stronger and the inhibition ratio was 20.91% (P < 0.01).CONCLUSION: Adult human MSCs supernatant can suppress peripheral blood lymphocytes proliferation and transformation; furthermore,PHA can enhance the inhibitory effect, suggesting the negative regulation is at least in part due to indirectly inhibiting lymphocytes via soluble cytokines.
