The arrangement of fascicles of musculocutaneous nerve at different levels in brachial plexus were studied in 22 adult cadavers. The nerve fascicles were dissociated and traced under operative microscope. At the distal end of the musculocutaneous nerve, the muscular and cutaneous fascicles are separated. The muscular fascicles are situated at the latero-anterior quadrant of the cross-section of the nerve. The mixed fascicle are become predominated proximally. The muscular and the muscular predominated mixed fascicles are still situated at latero-anterior quadrant. At the level 1 cm below the clevicle, 1cm and 1.5 cm above the clevicle, the fascicles of the nerve are situated at the lateral superio-anterior quadrant of the crosssection of relative parts of brachial plexus. The fascicles of the nerve are situated at the anterior quadrant of the crosssection of superior trunks. The fibers of musculocutaneous nerve are originate from C5, C6 and C7, being 31.6,%, 64.6% and 3.8%,respectively.

Objective To study the pathogenesis, clinical symptoms, surgical treatment and preventive measures of esophagogastric-arterial fistula following resection for carcinoma of the esophagus and cardia. Methods The clinical data of 18 patients with esophagogastric-arterial fistula were retrospective analyzed. Results There were 14 patients of esophageal carcinoma and 4 patients of cardiac carcinoma.7 patients had supra-aortic esophagogastric anastomosis(2 near the apex of pleura) and 11 had anastomosis under the aortic arch. Fatal hemorrhage occurred postoperatively from 11 to 93 days. The interval between hemorrhage and death varied from being instant to 18 days. All patients died. Conclusion The surgical treatment provide an opportunity for those patients. Successful management is possible if early diagnosis is made and prompt surgical management is undertaken. Preventive measures of peptic ulcer and esophageal fistula can decrease occurrence of this complication.

Objective To study the effect of Danggui-beimu-kushen Pill on benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and its possible mechanism. Methods BPH model mouse was produced by intraperitoneal injection of testosterone propionate. The high, medium and low dose treatment group was fed high, middle and low dose of Danggui-beimu-kushen Pill respectively, while the positive control group was fed Qianliekang liquid, 600 mg/kg. All mice were executed on the 21 day. Such values were observed as the prostate index changes, pathological changes of prostate by HE staining light microscopy and the expression changes of PCNA,bcl-2 and bax by immunohistochemistry. Results The prostate index of the treatment group was lower than the model group; the PCNA and bcl-2 expression were lower than the model group, while the bax expression was higher than the model group. Meanwhile; there is no significant difference among the treatment groups. Moreover, the difference between the treatment groups and the positive control group has no statistic meaning. Conclusion Danggui-beimu-kushen Pill can suppress BPH in mice. The mechanism may be related to the reduction expression of cell-proliferation protein PCNA and apoptosis profilin bcl-2, and the increase of bax expression.

Objective To investigate the protective effect of human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (huc-MSC) on the ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) of moderately fatty liver in rats. Methods The rat fatty liver model was established by fat-rich diet feeding. 60 female SD rats were randomly divided into MSC-treated and control groups (n = 30). MSC-treated group was infused with MSC (2 x 106 cells resuspended in 1.5 ml of sterile phosphate-buffered saline solution, PBS) by intra-venous injection through the tail vein. The first dose was administered on day 1 before IRI, followed by another dose on day 3 postIRI. The control group was injected with sterile PBS alone at the same intervals. Blood and liver samples were collected at day 1,4 and 7 (10 rats at each time point) post-IRI respectively to test enzyme activities, biochemical and histological changes. Serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), superoxide dismutase (SOD), malondialdehyde (MDA) and tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α) in liver tissue were measured. The pathological changes of liver tissue and apoptosis of hepatocytes were also assessed. Results Compared to the control group, the levels of ALT, AST, TNF-α, and MDA declined in the MSC-treated group on day 1 and day 4 post-IRI ( P < 0. 05 ), while no difference was observed on day 7 post-IRI ( P > 0. 05). There was no difference of the level of SOD between the two groups on day 1,4 and 7 post-IRI (P >0. 05). Pathological examination revealed inflammatory injury in the MSC-treated group was alleviated compared with that in the control group. Conclusion huc-MSC effects protection on the IRI of fatty liver in rats.
