In this study, authors observed and compared the clearances of different molecule weight substances between different dialysis membranes and different hemopurification methods. The results showed that the clearances of BUN by hemodialysis (HD) with cuprophan membrane, hemodiafiltration (HDF) with polysulfone and high flux dialysis (HFD) with polysulfone were all satisfactory. TACurea were all below 50 mg. Hemodialysis with cuprophan could clean out some middle molecule substances (MMS), but not ?2-microglobulin (?2m). Hemodiafiltration with polysulfone had the best clearances of MMS and ?2m. Hemofiltration (HF) with polysulfone had fair clearances of MMS and ?2m, but the clearances of BUN and Cr by HF were not so good. The clearances of MMS and ?2m by high flux dialysis were lower than those of HDF and HF. The clearances of MMS and ?2m by continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) at a single time were lower than those of HF, HDF and HFD, but the general clearances of MMS and ?2m by CAPD per week were two to four times higher than those by hemodialysis with cuprophan. CAPD is a choice method for those hospitals where HF or HDF can not be performed.

Hepatitis C viral RNA in sera from 10 patients with post-transfusion hepatitis in Shanghai (China) were amplified By the nested PCR with primer sets deduced from the American prototype HCV RNA 5' -untranslated region. Eight of 10 cases (80%) were positive. And manipulations of PCR were simplified by combination of reverse transcription step and the first round PCR reaction. Our results indirectly proved that 5-untranslated region of HCV RNA of Shanghai showed a high degree of comservation and homology compared with isolates from some regions in the world.

The computer three-dimensional reconstruction of serial sections is an important research area in the world at precent. In this paper, we combine the computer graphics, image processing and biomedical techniques to reconstruct the stereo model of intra-glandular lymphatics, veins, arteries and duets with the serial semithin sections of human submandibular gland.

Objective To evaluate the 1.5 T magnetic resonance imaging system to depict and track in vivo of magnetically labeled endothelial progenitor cells(EPCs),and to study the possibility for preventing the atherosclerotic plaque formation in New Zealand rabbit model of carotid arterial injury after transplantation. Methods New Zealand rabbit EPCs were isolated, confirmed, expanded and then incubated with home synthesized Fe_2O_3-PLL,Prussian blue stain was performed for showing intracellular irons. The model of carotid arterial injury was performed by 2.5F balloons, the group A of 8 rabbits received magnetically labeled EPCs,group B of 3 rabbits received fluorescent-labeled EPCs and the group C of 5 rabbits were given same volume saline injection after endothelial injury of the carotid artery.MR imaging and histology were performed and compared 4 days later for randomly chosen three rabbit, each from one of the three group;all the other rabbits were fed with high lipid diet and examed using MR imaging and histology after 15 weeks. Results Epcs labeling efficiency was more than 95% by Prussian blue stain, 4 days after transplantation of EPCs,only in group A,the injured endothelium of carotid artery had signal intensity loss in T_2 * WI,which were correlated well with the area where the most Prussian blue staining positive cells were found in histopathology analyses. The rabbits of group A and B which received EPCs transplantation exhibited fewer plaques formation than those of the group C(P

Objective To investigate homografting vascular endothelial progenitor cells(EPCs)for preventing restenosis formation of carotid artery in New Zealand white rabbit models. Methods EPCs of New Zealand white rabbits were isolated, confirmed and expanded though the injured carotid arterial endothelium of rabbit model induced by dilatation with a 2.5 F balloon;and then EPCs were transplanted into the injured endothelium of the cells transplantation group(n=13,3 of them were transplanted with fluorencently-labeled- EPCs),while equal volume of saline without EPCs was injected into the injured endothelium in the control group(n=8).Histopathology was performed at 4 days after transplantation for the 2 rabbits, with fluorencently-labeled-EPCs.All of the rest remained rabbits were killed 4 weeks later for histological examinations. Results The histopathological slides showed that the fluorescence-positive expression existed in the injured endothelium 4 days after transplantation. At 4 weeks after the EPCs transplantation, there were less restenosis and less vascular wall thickening in the rabbits of cells transplantation group than those of the control group(P<0.01).Conclusion The local interventional homografting heterogeneous endothelial progenitor cells can prevent restenosis after the carotid artery angioplasty in New Zealand White rabbit model.
