Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of urethroplasty via transpubie ap-proach in treatment of complex posterior urethral strictures after pelyic fracture. Methods Urethroplas-ty via transpubic approach was done on 26 patients (21 males and 5 females, at mean age of 26 years) with complex posterior urethral strictures. Posterior urethral stricture was 2.5-4.0 cm long in 23 patiens and > 4.0 em in three. There were five patients with urethratresia. The perioporative complications and operative effect were evaluated after the broken ends of the urethra was thoroughly resected and treated with end-to-end anastomosis. Results A follow-up for 1-7 years ( mean 4 years) showed successful op-eration in 22 patients (85%), with normal urination and without complications like osteitis pubis, pelvic disassociation, pelvic instability or urinary incontinence. But obstructed urination was found in one (4%) and failed operation in three (11%). Conclusions Urethroplasty via transpubic approach takes advantages of precise and thorough scar excision, less complications and long term curative effect and is clinically feasible and safe for patients with complex posterior urethral stricture.

Methods The levels of IL - 8, sICAM -1 and sE-selectin in the serum were measured by double-sandwich ELISA in 40 COPD patients and 20 healthy persons. The COPD patients were divided into two groups: 20 cases in COPD a-cute exacerbation group and 20 cases in stable period group. OBJECTIVE To manage the surgical instruments borrowed from medical equipment companies effectively in order to prevent or decrease the incidence of hospital infection.METHODS We analyzed the hidden trouble inducing the hospital infection by data investigation.Effective management of surgical instruments was suggested.RESULTS The management method was accepted by most departments and the surgical site infection was well controlled.CONCLUSIONS Effective management of borrowed surgical instruments should be further emphasized to ensure the safety for operation.

Objective To explore associations between SG13S114A/T and SG13S32A/C polymorphisms of ALOX5AP gene and the genetic susceptibility of ischemic cerebrovascular diseases (ICVD) in Henan Han population.Methods Two hundred and forty-six ICVD patients and 245 healthy controls were recruited from Han population in Henan province. Polymorphisms of SG13S114A/T and SG13S32A/C in ALOX5AP gene were genotyped in these samples by SnaPshot minisequencing method.Each genotype frequency and allele frequency were statistically analyzed and compared between ICVD group and control group using SPSS16.0 software.Haplotype and linkage disequilibrium were analyzed by SHEsis software.Results The SG13S114 AA genotype frequency ( 18.7％ ) and A allele frequency (41.3％) in ICVD group were significantly higher than those in control group (9.0％ and 32.7％,respectively; P =0.002 and P =0.005 ).It was also found that in male ICVD group and in younger ICVD group ( ＜50 years old),the SG13S114 AA genotype frequencies (22.1％ and 22.0％,respectively) and A allele frequencies (42.1％ and 42.7％,respectively) were significantly higher than those in male control group and younger control group (SG13S114 AA genotype:9.0％ and 8.9％ ; P =0.010 and P =0.006,respectively) ;A allele frequencies,34.0％ and 32.0％ ; P =0.048 and P =0.020,respectively.Finally,the prevalence of A-A haplotype in ICVD group was significantly higher than that in control group(30.4％ vs 23.5％,OR =1.419,95％ CI 1.068-1.885,P =0.015).T-C haplotype frequency of ICVD group was significantly lower than that in control group (22.0％ vs 28.8％,OR =0.698,95％ CI 0.523-0.932,P =0.014 ).Conclusions The A allele in SG13S114 loci of ALOX5AP may be a genetic risk factor for ICVD in Han population in Henan province.The association is predominant in ICVD patients of male and younger than 50 years old.Maybe A-A haplotype increases the risk of ICVD and T-C haplotype and has a protective effect against ICVD in Henan Han population.

Objective To investigate compliance of breast cancer patients with postoperative peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) in terms of upper limb motion, to formulate practical plan of upper limb motion, and to improve the compliance in the patients with PICC catheter.Methods A total of 75 patients after breast cancer operation with PICC for chemotherapy were selected from Department of Thyroid and Breast Surgery for upper limb activity instructions.Plan-Do-Check-Act method was used to evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness.Two cycles were performed in two weeks.Patients' compliance was assessed by the inquiry method.Results After practicing and refining nursing process, perfecting the risk assessment table, adjusting the education time, etc., the cognition and acceptance of the significance of upper limb motion were improved in the patients.The compliance of the patients to the upper limb motion instructions was satisfactory.Conclusions The upper limb motion scheme in this study was modified and perfected through application, research, and practice.This scheme could enhance the compliance of patients in terms of upper limb motion.

AIM: To study the relation ship between stress and lung injury caused by acute hemorrhagic necrotizing pancreatitis(AHNP) through AHNP model.METHODS: The AHNP model was made by using 5% sodium taurocholate retrograded injection into biliopancreatic duct in SD rats. Those rats were divided into three groups randomly, from A to C, the A group undertook sham operations, the B group was made into AHNP model, and the C group was given Metyrapone. The level of corticosteroid, CRP and amylase in serum had been observed. The lung and pancreas histological examinations were also performed.RESULTS: In C group, the level of corticosteroid, CRP and amylase were much lower than those in B group. Objective To investigate the possible association between the thrombospandin-1(TSP-1) gene GI678A (Ala523Thr)polymorphism and acute coronary syndrome (ACS) in a Chinese Han population.Method he ease cohort studied was compsed of 412 hospitalized patients with ACS recruited from four participating hospitals between November 2003 and May 2006.The diagnosis of ACS was based on the criteria of AHA/ACC set in 2002.The eontrul group was consisted of 319 age- and sex-matched subjects from partiei pating hospitals,and they were free from coronary artery disease judged by history,clinical examination,electrocardiography,exercise test and angiography.The TSP-1 GI678A polymorphism was determined by polymerase ehain reaction and restriction fragment length polymurphism analysis(PCR-RFLP).Results The prevalence OfAA genotype of the G1678A polymorphismin patients with ACS was significantly higher than that in the control subjects (49.5%% vs.40.4%,P=0.015).The frequencies of GA and GG genotypes were not significantly different between patients with ACS and controls (CA:39.3% vs.46.1%,P=0.070;CA;11.2% vs.13.5%,P=0.340).The frequencies of A allele in the ACS group and control group were 69.2% and 63.5%,respectively (P=0.022).Furthermore,multiple logistic regression analysis showed that the AA genotype was a significant risk factor for ACS (OR=1.52;95% CI:1.11～2.08;P=0.010).Conclusions The present findings suggest that the AA genotype in TSP-1 gene GI678A polymorphism may be associated with a risk factor for ACS in the Hart nationality of China.The AA genotype may be a genetic marker of the liability to the inheritance of AC,S.

OBJECTIVETo analyze caries activity of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) patients before and after radiation therapy. The study was also designed to analyze calcium and phosphorus concentrations in saliva of NPC patients before and after radiotherapy.

METHODSTwenty-eight NPC patients and 20 healthy controls were included in this study. Resazurin disc method was used to detect caries activity of NPC patients before and after 70 Gy radiotherapy. The atomic absorption spectrometry and molybdenum-stibium antispetrophotography method were used to analyze calcium and phosphorus concentrations in saliva of NPC patients before and after 70 Gy radiotherapy and the healthy controls.

RESULTSThe results of resazurin disc method showed caries activity of NPC patients was increased after radiotherapy (P < 0.01). Calcium concentration in saliva of NPC patients before radiotherapy was (63.19 +/- 3.27) mg x L(-1), phosphorus concentration was (132.96 +/- 5.13) mg x L(-1). After 70 Gy radiotherapy, calcium concentration was (33.38 +/- 0.32) mg x L(-1), phosphorus concentration was (49.18 +/- 2.66) mg x L(-1). The difference of calcium and phosphorus concentrations in saliva before and after radiotherapy was significant (P < 0.01).

CONCLUSIONCaries activities of NPC patients increase after radiotherapy. Calcium and phosphorus concentrations in saliva decrease after radiation therapy.

The core protein (CP) of the classical swine fever virus (CSFV) is one of its structural proteins. Apart from forming the nucleocapsid to protect internal viral genomic RNA, this protein is involved in transcriptional regulation. Also, during viral infection, the CP is involved in interactions with many host proteins. In this review, we combine study of this protein with its disorders, structural/functional characteristics, as well as its interactions with the non-structural proteins NS3, NS5B and host proteins such as SUMO-1, UBC9, OS9 and IQGAP1. We also summarize the important part played by the CP in CSFV pathogenicity, virulence and replication of genomic RNA. We also provide guidelines for further studies in the CP of the CSFV.
