OBJECTIVETo evaluate the effect of microwave sintering on the translucency of zirconia and to compare these effect with those of conventional sintering. The relationship between the microstructure of specimens and translucency was investigated.
METHODSA total of 10 disc-shaped specimens were fabricated from 2 commercial brands of zirconia, namely, Zenostar and Lava. Each group included 5 discs. Conventional sintering was performed according to the manufacturers' specifications. The maximum temperature for Zenostar was 1,490 °C, whereas that for Lava was 1,500 °C. The dwelling time was 2 h. The sintering temperature for microwave sintering was 1,420 °C, heating rate was 15 °C · min⁻¹, and dwelling time was 30 min. After sintering, the translucency parameter (TP) of the specimens were measured with ShadeEye NCC. The sintered density of the specimens was determined by Archimedes' method. The grain size and microstructure of the specimens were investigated by scanning electron microscopy.
RESULTSDensity and translucency slightly increased by microwave sintering, but no significant difference was found between microwave and conventional sintering (P > 0.05). Small and uniform microstructure were obtained from microwave sintering. The mean TP of Lava was significantly higher than that of Zenostar (P < 0.001).
CONCLUSIONThe translucency of zirconia sintered by microwave sintering is similar to that of the zirconia sintered by conventional sintering.

Journal of Preventive Medicine 2022;34(11):1121-1124
Objective :
To analyze the screening results of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) and HIV co-infections in Ningbo City from 2012 to 2020, so as to provide insights into improving the tuberculosis control strategy.
Methods :
Data pertaining to HIV antibody testing among tuberculosis patients, MTB testing among HIV/AIDS patients, treatment of patients with MTB and HIV co-infections and prognosis of anti-tuberculosis therapy were collected from the annual working reports for the management of MTB and HIV co-infections in Ningbo City from 2012 to 2020, and the screening, treatment and prognosis of MTB and HIV co-infections were analyzed.
Results :
A total of 35 385 newly identified tuberculosis patients were reported in Ningbo City from 2012 to 2020, and there were 5 854 cases receiving HIV testing. The annual mean percentage of HIV screening was 17.57%, and the HIV screening rate appeared a tendency towards a rise in Ningbo City from 2012 to 2020 (χ2trend=4 926.309, P<0.001). Eleven patients were tested positive for HIV, with an annual mean HIV positive rate of 0.19%. A total of 26 043 HIV/AIDS patients received MTB screening, with an annual mean screening rate of 95.78%, and the annual screening rate of MTB appeared a tendency towards a rise in Ningbo City from 2012 to 2020 (χ2trend=79.077, P<0.001). A total of 81 tuberculosis patients were detected, with an annual mean detection rate of 0.31%. Among the 92 patients with MTB and HIV co-infections, there were 81 patients receiving anti-tuberculosis and antiviral therapy simultaneously (88.04%), 8 cases receiving anti-tuberculosis therapy alone (8.70%), 2 cases receiving antiviral therapy alone (2.17%) and 1 case without therapy (1.09%). Among the 89 MTB and HIV co-infected patients receiving anti-tuberculosis therapy, 27 cases were cured (30.34%), 53 cases completing the course of treatment (59.55%) and 7 cases died.
Conclusions
The MTB screening rate among HIV/AIDS patients and the percentage of MTB and HIV co-infected patients with successful anti-tuberculosis treatment were high in Ningbo City from 2012 to 2020; however, the HIV screening rate should be improved among tuberculosis patients.

Chinese Journal of Radiation Oncology 2005;0(05):-
Objective To discuss the optimal radiation dose in the treatment of the late course accelerated hyperfractionation(LCAH) radiotherapy for esophageal carcinoma by using two different treatment doses, focusing on the difference of the short term results, local control rates, treatment tolerance and long term survival rates between the two groups. Methods One hundred patients with esophageal carcinoma were randomly divided by the envelope method into two groups:the 60Gy group and the 75Gy group.Patients in 60Gy group received conventional fraction radiation for the first 3 weeks, and then hyperfractionation radiation(1.5Gy per fraction, two fractions a day with 6 hour interval,10 fractions per week) to the total dose of 60Gy/35 fractions/5 weeks. The radiation schedule of the 75Gy group was the same as the 60Gy group: conventional fractionation of radiation for the first 3 weeks and then hyperfractionation radiation for the rest 3 weeks to the total dose of 75Gy/45 fractions/6 weeks. Results There was no significant difference between the two groups in short term results. The 1-,3-,5-year local control rates were 86%,42%,32% in 60Gy group and 88%,52%,48% in 75Gy group, respectively. The 1-,3-,5-year survival rates were 86%,40%, 28% in 60Gy group and 72%,34%,16% in 75Gy group, with no significant difference(P= 0.283).The median survival time was 25 months for the 60Gy group and 19 months for the 75Gy group.Patients suffered from heavy radiation-induced esophagitis in the 75Gy group were significantly more than those in the 60Gy group(28% vs 10%,P= 0.022).But it was similar for patients who died of side effects in the two groups. Conclusions It is not suitable to pursue high dose in treating esophageal carcinoma with late course accelerated hyperfractionation radiotherapy as high incidence of side effects are unadvoidable if the dose is increased without changing the radiation fields and techniques. When escalating the dose to the esophagus, the radiated lung volume as well as the other normal tissues should be first subjected to meticulous and careful consideration.

Objective To study the role of autophagy in the curcumin (Cur) enhancing the chemosensitivity of the colorectal cancer LoVo cells to irinotecan (CPT-11). Methods The LoVo cells were separated into 4 groups:the control group, the Cur group, the CPT-11 group and the Mix group.Western blot assay was applied to determine the expression of autophagy-related protein LC3-Ⅱ and P62. LC3-Ⅱ was detected by immunofluorescence method. Transmission electron microscopy was used to detect the autophagosome. CCK-8 assay was applied to detect the cell growth inhibitory rate of LoVo cells ,which were pre-treated with autophagy inhibitor 3-MA before 24-h treatment of Cur and/or CPT-11. Western blot assay was applied to detect the expression of LC3- Ⅱ and P62. Results The mixed treatment significantly increased the expression of LC3-Ⅱwhile decreased P62 expression, compared with the Cur and CPT-11 treatments. The autophagosomes in cells of Mix group were significantly more than those in cells of the Cur and Cpt group. Pre-treatment of 3-MA significantly reduced cell growth rate in the Cur group, the Cpt group and the Mix group. Pre-treatment of 3-MA significantly decreased the expression of LC3-Ⅱ,while increased P62 expression, compared with the Mix group. Conclution Combinations of curcumin and CPT-11 could enhance the chemosensitivity of LoVo cells to CPT-11,which might be related to the activation of autophagy.

We report in detail ultrastructural changes and freezing damage mechanism about heart muscle and some organelles after rapid freezing. The ventricles of rat heart were cut pieces about 100-150/?m by microsiicer. The pieces were quickly injected liquid cryogen Freon 22 by Reichert-Jung spring-assistant mechanism (KF-80). The specimens frozen were rapidly transferred into substitution medium aceton and kept at -80℃(28h), then -60℃ (48h),-20℃(12h)and 4℃ (1 h). The structures of specimens frozen were well and there were no ice crystals in the area of the tissue frozen surface to 20?m depth. However, there were freezing damages in mitochondrial crista, intercellular substance and muscular fibre in the tissue surface to 30?m depth. The structure of tissue was destroyed by ice crystal over 50?m depth in the tissue. The results suggest that intercellular substance and mitochondrial crista are the most sensitive to ice crystal damage after rapid freezing of heart tissue, then the less sensitive are muscular fibre and nucleus. The unit membrane is not easy to be damaged by ice crystal.
