[Objective] To investigate the effects of Yangyin Kangdu Powder (YKP) on peripheral blood T-lymphocyte subsets levels in X-ray-irradiated mice. [Methods] Forty-five mice were randomized into normal control, model and YKP groups. Except the normal group, the rats in model and YKP groups were irradiated with 6Gy X-ray to establish models with acute radiation-induced injury. Normal saline was given to the model group while YKP in the dosage of 10 g?kg-1?d-1 was orally administered to YKP group for one week. The changes of CD4 and CD8 T-lymphocyte subsets levels were detected by flow cytometry. [Results] Plasma levels of CD4 and CD8 and the ratio of CD4/CD8 decreased in the model group, the difference being significant as compared with the normal control group (P

Objective To study the mechanism of Chinese herbal capsule in the treatment of genital herpes. Methods Guinea pig model for genital herpes infection was established.HSV DNA from the cerebrum, spinal cord, cervical canal and vagina of guinea pigs was detected by fluorescent-quantitative PCR.Results The HSV DNA could be detected from all four kinds of tissues, with different copies of the virus in the different tissues, the highest in spinal cord, then in vagina, the least in cerebrum and cervical canal. There was statistical difference of HSV-DNA copies between herbal capsule group and control group(normal saline),whereas no statistical difference between herbal capsule group and aciclovir group. Conclusion The mechanism of the anti-virus herbal capsule in the treatment of experimental genital herpes might be related to blocking the latent infection and suppressing the replication of HSV.

【Objective】To search an effective therapy for total alopecia (TA) and universal alopecia (UA) .【Methods】Nineteen cases of TA and twelve of UA were treated with combined therapy: irradiation with high-performanceelectromagnetic wave equipment, acupoint injection on Zusanli point (ST36) , external application of Yifa Tincture B andhormones, internal medication of hormones and washing with Xianglian solution.【Results】Among 31 cases of TA andUA, 17 were cured, 6 were markedly effective, 5 effective and 3 ineffective, the total effective rate being 90.3%.【Conclusion】Combined treatment with Chinese and western medicine has a certain effect for TA and UA.

Objective To study the in-vitro antibacterial activity of Niaoluqing Decoction on Ureaplasma Urealyticum (Uu) . Methods Sixty-three clinical strains of Uu were identified to determine their serology and antibiotic susceptibilities by the metabolic inhibition test(MIT). These strains were subcultured for 3 generations and then cultured with Niaoluqing Decoction with a series of concentrations from 250 mg/mL to 0.48 mg/mL. The minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) was determined when the color of culture medium did not change from yellow to red in 72 h.Results For 63 clinical strains of Uu, the range of MIC of Niaoluqing Decoction was from 0.48 mg/mL to 15.63 mg/mL,MIC50≤1.95 mg/mL,MIC90≤3.91 mg/mL. Clinical strains of Uu had a higher sensitive to Niaoluqing Decoction than to tetracycline(?2=18.38,P 0.05).Clinical strains of Uu including all of its serotypes had a higher antibiotic susceptibility to Niaoluqing Decoction (MIC≤3.91 mg/mL) except for serotype 11, 1, 2 in this experiment contains (MIC≥7.81 mg/mL). Conclusion Niaoluqing Decoction showed a significant in-vitro antibacterial activity on clinical Uu strains with different serotypes.

Objective:To probe e ect of a Chinese compound recipe of nourishing yin and clearing heat and prednisone on nuclear protein of splenic lymphocytes in mice.Methods:MRL/LPR female lupus mice were divided into four groups respectively treated with isotonic Na chloride, traditional Chinese medicine,Western medicine and integrated Chinese and Western medicine, then nucleoproteins of splenic lymphocytes were extracted and detected by SELDI-TOF-MS method.Result:There were some proteins in control group which aggravated autoimmune course, and some proteins in Western medicine group which rivalried immunological activity;integrated Chinese and Western medicine and Western medicine showed similarly e ect on nucleoprotein of splenic lymphocytes. Conclusion:The recipe of nourishing yin and clearing heat and prednisone can treat the disease by uencing in the di erentiation of splenic lymphocytes and the expression of proteins.

Objective To observe the influence of dexamethasone on the gene expression profiling of PBMCs from patients with internal heat due to Yin deficiency-type SLE. Methods The PBMCs from 3 patients with internal heat due to Yin deficiency-type SLE were incubated with dexamethasone of 10-6 g/L for 48 hours followed by the detection of gene expression profiling of PBMCs by a GeneChip. Results The incubation with dexamethasone upregulated the expressions of 85 genes and downregulated those of 126 genes in PBMCs from the SLE patients. Conclusions Dexamethasone can regulate the expressions of numerous clusters of genes in PBMCs from patients with internal heat due to Yin deficiency-type SLE, and functional proteins encoded by these genes are located at various organelles and regions of cells. Not all the results of gene regulation by dexamethasone favor the relief of SLE. To study the regulation of genes may be beneficial to the elucidation of mechanisms underlying the therapeutic effect of dexamethasone on SLE.

Objective To investigate the levels of 8 minerals that are related to human health in serum of elderly popu?lation in Tianjin and to provide evidence based guidance for scientifical and rational dietary. Methods Venous blood was collected from 714 elderly people and the levels of 8 minerals were examined by inductively coupled plasma-mass spec?trometry (ICP-MS). Results The percentage of the elderly people who are short of at least one mineral was up to 92.7%. The percentages of deficiency in serum zinc, manganese, magnesium, chrome, iron, calcium, copper, selenium are 79.3%, 73.4%, 58.5%, 42.4%, 39.8%, 23.0%, 1.5%and 0.6%respectively . The level of Ferrum in men’s serum is higher than that in women, while the levels of calcium, chrome and copper in men’s serum are lower than those in women. Conclusion The level of the minerals is generally low in the elderly population from Tianjin and ways were needed in improving dietary.

AIMTo investigate the effects of RLI on plasma nitric oxide (NO) and NO synthase (NOS) isoforms of healthy humans.
METHODS30 healthy human subjects (aged from 40 - 70 years old) were recruited. RLI was induced by five 5 min cycles of ischemia of non dominant arm (200 mmHg, 5 min interval). Blood pressure, heart rate, and the feelings of ischemic arm were continuously monitored. Venous plasma was collected in contralateral arm at Pre, Post-0 h, Post-4 h, and Post-24 h. Plasma level of NO was measured by Griess reaction, and NOS was measured by chemical method.
RESULTSBlood pressure and heart rate varied in normal range. The uncomfortable feeling was decreased with the increasing numbers of ischemic cycles. Plasma level of NO, and iNOS in plasma were significantly increased at Post-0 h, Post-4 h, and Post-24 h compared to Pre (P < 0.05). tNOS was also significantly increased at Post-0 h and Post-4 h compared to Pre (P < 0.05). No significant change in plasma cNOS was shown at following three time points than Pre.
CONCLUSIONThese findings suggest that RLI can elevate plasma level of NO, tNOS, and iNOS in healthy humans. RLI might be a safe method as a rIPC, and it would have important possibility to be performed in clinic.
