Objective To evaluate the perioperative safety of laparoscopic cholecystectomy(LC) in patients with gallstones complicated with end-stage renal disease(ESRD). Methods Clinical data of 41 patients with gallstones accompanying ESRD treated with LC(ESRD Group) between May 1994 and May 2005 were analyzed retrospectively.Another 200 patients without ESRD(non-ESRD Group) receiving LC during the same period were randomly selected for comparison. Results The patients in the ESRD Group were older than those in the non-ESRD Group(49.8?11.9 years vs 44.2?12.3 years;t=2.655,P=0.008).There were significant differences between the ESRD Group and the non-ESRD Group in hemoglobin levels(76.3?11.7 g/L vs 120.1?8.4(g/L)) and platelet count [(141?36)?10~9/L vs(183?51)?10~9/L)] (t=22.905 and 6.226;P

AIM: To study the mostly pharmacological effects of Kangjun Xiaoyan Tablets (Flos Lonicerae, Radix Stemonae, Radix et Rhizonia Rhei, etc.) METHODS: The pharmacological functions of KJXYT were observed by measuring its antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antipyretic and immune etc. RESULTS: KJXYT had remarkably protected the mice from the infection with streptococcus pneumococcus and staphylococcus aureus; had dramatic anti-inflammatory effect on the inhibited feet edema of rat induced by egg white and the ear edema of mice induced by dimethylbenzene; and had obvious effect on fever of rats caused by dried yeast; besides, and strengthened the phagocytosis of mice’s reticuloendothelial system. CONCLUSION:KJXYT serves the function of antibiosis, anti-inflammation, antipyresis and immunpotentiation. enedth

Objective To design and develop a cardiovascular automatic feedback control instrument for rescuing the critical patients. Methods Ten dogs used this kind instrument and the effects were obserred.Resuts The experiment of the dogs showed:the computer collected samples promptly, accurately and rapidly, and the instrument could help us to reach the expected goal. Conclusion In animal experiments,it showed that the whole cycle, from obtaining blood pressure to adjusting the amounts of medicine through feedback, was shortened. The calculating was accuratel and curative effect was reliable. This instrument is wait to be apprnsed by clinic.

Objective To study the action of puerarin on Caspase-3 and Bcl-2 expression of hippocampal CA1 neurons in ovariectomized rats, and explore its mechanism. Methods SD female rats were randomly assigned into sham operation group, model group, premarin group and puerarin groups (120, 60, 30 mg/kg). The model group and sham operation group were injected NS intraperitoneally, other groups were treated with corresping drugs for 30 d. Immunohistochemistry and RT-PCR were used to determine Caspase-3 and Bcl-2 expression of hippocampal CA1 neurons. Results Caspase-3 expression of hippocampal CA1 neurons was significantly decreased in high-dose puerarin group (P <0.05). Bcl-2 expression of hippocampal CA1 neurons was significantly increased in high- and medium-dose puerarin groups (P<0.05, P<0.01). Bcl-2 mRNA level of hippocampal CA1 neurons in high-dose puerarin group was significantly increased (P<0.05). Conclusion Puerarin can decrease Caspase-3expression and increase Bcl-2 expression of hippocampal CA1 neurons in ovariectomized rats, and has protective effect on neuronal structure.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the result of laparoscopic colorectomy in treatment of colorectal cancer.
METHODSLaparoscopic colorectal surgery was performed in 78 patients with colorectal cancer. Operative procedures, complications and postoperative recovery were studied.
RESULTNone of the 78 patients died of laparoscopic colorectal surgery or complications. Eleven patients died from tumor metastasis and 2 from other causes. Twenty-one, 17, 8 patients for 1, 3, 5 years survived respectively. In nine patients who had received operation less than 1 year, no tumor recurrence or metastasis was found except in 1 patient 11 months after operation.
CONCLUSIONLaparoscopic colorectal cancer resection is essential to colectomy for colon and rectum cancer when indicated.

Objective To establish a rat model of Cryptococcus neoformans meningitis. Methods Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into four groups (group A to D). The load of Cryptococcus neoformans was inoculated by intracisternal injection to the animals in Group A (1×105 cfu), Group B (1×106 cfu), Group C (1×107 cfu), and 0.9% NaCl solution to Group D. The rats were observed after inoculation for their clinical symptoms. On day 14 and day 21 after inoculation, cerebrospinal fluid was sampled and cultured for counting of bacterial colonies. The 28-day mortality of the animals was calculated. Results All the animals in group A (1×105 cfu) survived without any apparent clinical symptoms, and associated with decreasing bacteria load. The animals in group B (1×106 cfu) had mild symptoms associated with low mortality rate and slightly increased bacterial load. The animals in group C (1×107 cfu) showed a lot of symptoms and associated with high mortality rate and significantly increased bacteria load. All the animals in group D (0.9% NaCl solution) survived with normal activity. No bacterial colony was cultured from the cerebrospinal fluid. Conclusions Intracisternal injection of 1×107 cfu Cryptococcus neoformans to rats could cause apparent clinical symptoms of meningitis. The 28-day mortality rate of such a rat model of Cryptococcus neoformans meningitis is greater than 80%. An ideal rat model of Cryptococcus neoformans meningitis is established successfully.
