Objective To investigate the predictive value of mnodified early warning score (MEWS) in predicting emergency potential in critically ill patients and its feasibility. Methods A total of 298 patients in the emergency department and emergency room were evaluated using the MEWS.The distribution of transfer to cadiopulmanary resuscitation (CPR),intensive care unit (ICU) and high dependency unit (HDU),length of hospital stay ( more than 1 month or not) and transferred to advanced hospital, death were recorded, and all patients were followed up.Results Patients with different MEWS were treated significantly differently ( x2=258.697,P < 0.001 ),and their prognosis were also significantly different ( x2=115.938,P < 0.001 ).the condition of patiens were significantly correlated with MEWS ( r=0.848,P < 0.001 ).Conclusion The MEWS in the prediction of potential in critically ill patients in emergency department is feasible as a special emergency assessment system and is recommended for promotion.

ObjectiveTo investigate the effects of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) on mRNA expression of iron metabolism related genes. Methods Ten male mice (2 months) were injected intraperitoneally with lipopolysaccharide(0.5 μg/g). After 6 hours, mice were sacrificed and then sera, liver and spleen were collected. The mice blood routine was measured. The serum iron and total iron binding capacity (TIBC) were determined with reagent kit. The quasi-quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) was performed for mRNA of hepatic hepcidin(HP), ferroportin1(Fpn1), transferrin receptor 1(TfR1) and spleenic HP, Fpn1 and interleukin-6(IL-6). Results The serum iron and TIBC were reduced in mice injected LPS, which exhibited mild anemia(P<0.05) . LPS can increase the expression of hepatic hepcidin and decrease Fpn1 and TfR1 in liver after LPS administration 6 hours(P<0.05). In spleen, IL-6 was upregulated and Fpn1 downregulated(P<0.05). Conclusion LPS can influence serum iron through regulating the mRNA expression of hepatic and spleenic iron metabolism related genes, such as HP, Fpn1 and TfR1.

To describe the effects of endogenous testosterone levels on the visuospatial ability.Thevisuospatial ability, testosteronewere included as the key words, retrieving 46 papers in the database.35 relevant papers have been reviewed in the paper,as the results,we have found that the visuospatial ability of male was better than female. The performances of the visuospatial tasks in males were associated with the lev-els of endogenous testosterone, and the effects comprised two aspects:the organizational function and activa-tional function of the testosterone. The latter have received more attention from researchers.Until now, most studies of activational effects of testosterone on visuospatial ability remained on the level of behavioral re-search.The mental rotation task, navigation task and virtual reality scenes tasks were implied in these stud-ies.A nonlinear relationship has aroused a great controversy.Latest research suggests that further investiga-tion of the neural mechanisms related to visual-spatial ability is needed, using ERP and MRI techniques,to assess the relationship of endogenous testosterone levels with the relevant neural basis of visuospatial ability.
