Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2004;2(6):34-35
Purpose: To observe the therapeutic effect of acupuncture treatment for diabetes. Method:Based upon proper diet, 100 cases of patients with diabetes were treated with Pishu (BL 20), Shenshu (BL 23), Feishu (BL 13), Weiwanxiashu (Extra), Zusanli (ST 36), Sanyinjiao (SP 6), Hegu (LI 4), and Xuehai (SP 10) by electric acupuncture, with acupoints added or deducted upon syndrome differentiation. Results: Fasting blood sugar decreased in the patients after the treatments, with a significant difference (P<0.05) in comparison with before treatment. And the patients with obvious symptoms decreased from 85% before the treatment to 4% after the treatment. Conclusions: Acupuncture treatment can reduce fasting blood sugar in the patients with diabetes and is also remarkably effective in improving the clinical symptoms.
2.Clinical Observation on Scapulohumeral Periarthritis Treated by Tuina and SSP Meridian Therapeutic Apparatus
Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2004;2(3):37-39
Purpose: To observe the therapeutic effect of Tuina plus meridian therapeutic apparatus on scapulohumeral periarthritis. Methods: Thirty-five cases of scapulohumeral periarthritis were treated by Tuina plus Japan-made SSP meridian therapeutic apparatus in the observation group, and 30 cases were treated by single meridian therapeutic apparatus in the control group. Results: Certain therapeutic effects had been achieved in the treatment of scapulohumeral periarthritis in the two groups. But, there is an obvious difference (P<0.01) in the curative rate between the observation group and control group, and the curative rated was remarkably higher in the observation group than in the control group. Conclusion: Tuina plus meridian therapeutic apparatus is an effective method for scapulohumeral periarthritis.

Chinese Journal of Orthopaedics 2001;0(03):-
Objective To discuss the individual method and its feasibility and security of balloon kyphoplasty for the treatment of osteoporotic vertebral fractures with vertebral body wall incompetence. Methods Thirty-nine vertebral bodies were performed for kyphoplasty in 35 osteoporotic patients with vertebral compression fractures with incompetence of vertebral body wall. During operation, the cement was injected twice to avoid anterior leaking in the patients with anterior wall incompetence, while in the patients with posterior or lateral wall incompetence, the cement was injected with continuously X-ray monitoring by C-arm to prevent lateral or posterior leaking. The symptoms improvement, vertebral height restoration and complications were observed. Results All patients tolerated the procedure well with immediate relief of back pain after kyphoplasty. No symptomatic complications were found in all patients. The vertebral height had a recovery rate of 68.46%, and the mean Cobb angle was improved 8.6?. There was significant difference in Cobb angles between preoperation and postoperation (P

Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2006;4(3):186-188
Objective: To compare the therapeutic effects between the needling method by identification of deficient and excessive patterns and the needling method by routine meridian differentiation in the treatment of soft tissue injuries. Methods: 380 cases of the patients with soft tissue injuries were randomly divided into pattern identification group (200 cases, with the needling method by identification of deficient and excessive patterns) and meridian identification group (180cases, with the needling method by routine meridian differentiation), to observe and compare the therapeutic effects in the two groups. Results: The curative effect was 86% in the pattern identification group and 31.11% in the meridian identification group, with a significant difference (P< 0.01). In comparison with the total average treatment times in the cured and improved cases, the pattern identification group was 8.8 days and the meridian identification group was 15.6 days, with a remarkable significant difference (P< 0.01). The pattern identification group was better than the meridian identification group. Conclusion: In the treatment of soft tissue injuries, the needling method by identification of deficient and excessive patterns was better than the needling method by routine meridian differentiation.

Objective To explore the clinical characteristics of localized peritoneal mesothelioma by the retrospective analysis of the clinical data and its relationship with asbestos exposure. Methods A total of 22 cases with localized peritoneal mesothelioma confirmed by pathological test and they were selected as our subjects in the Central Hospital of Cangzhou from Jan.2007 to Dec.2012.The information of all cases was collected. The incidence, asbestos exposure history, clinical manifestations, imaging studies, pathological type, immunohistochemistry and tumor markers of peritoneal mesotheliom patients were recorded or measured. Results Of 22 cases, female accounted for 68.18%.The periods from onset symptoms to treatment time was from 2 days to 1 year with an average of 83 days.Clinical symptoms were verified including localized abdominal pain (11 cases,50.00%),abdominal mass (8 cases,36.36%),abdominal distension (6 cases,27.27%),ascites (10 cases,45.45%).Patient was with increased platelet and carcinoma antigen 125.Abdominal computerized tomography showed that local mass was seen and 12 cases were with asbestos spot.Ultrasound-guided peritoneal biopsy was confirmed as the main diagnostic method followed by Laparotomy.Epithelial type was the main pathological type (19 cases,86.36%),following the fleshy tumor type and mixed type.Eighteen cases had asbestos exposure history. Conclusion Localized peritoneal mesothelioma is a rare disease. However, the incidence is high in the current region due to asbestos exposure.Abdominal pain and local mass are the main clinical symptoms, and the main pathology is epithelial typeas well as surgery is the main therapy.

Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2008;6(6):341-343
Objective: To observe the clinical effect of tuina plus medications on infantile diarrhea induced by rotavirus infection. Methods: After 55 cases of confirmed sick infants were divided into two groups by the order of their visits, 30 cases in the medication group were treated by intravenous infusion of Ribavirin and oral administration of Smecta; 25 cases in the tuina plus medication group were treated by the manual techniques of tonifying Pijing(脾经) and clarifying Dachangjing (大肠经), rubbing the abdomen and kneading the navel clockwise, pushing Shangqijiegu (上七节骨), kneading Guiwei (龟尾), and pinching the skin of the spine, in combination with same medications used as in the medication group. Results: The total effective rate was 96% in the tuina plus medication group, P < 0.01, in comparison with the medication group. Conclusion: tuina has a good therapeutic effect in the treatment of infantile diarrhea induced by rotavirus infection and is importantly significant for shortening the course, enhancing the therapeutic effect and lowering down the medical cost.
