Objective To investigate the application of ultrasound localization during craniocerebral operations. Methods Thirty-one cases with intracranial space occupying lesion were surgically treated with guidance of ultrasound, which was applied to real-time localization while revealing skull, tracing during operation and evaluation of the operation's effect before locking up the skull. Results In our group, 31 cases were checked using ultrasound localization during operation. Ultrasound could level the lesion's size and position, which was in accordance with the result of CT and MRI before operation. With the application of ultrasound localization, the lesion could be probed exactly. Conclusions Ultrasound localization during operation is simple, effective and secure, and is helpful to enhance the accuracy of the craniocerebral operations, reduce the blindly exploration, shorten the operation time, and what is more important, reduce unnecessary tissue damage of normal brain tissue, which obviously possess much clinical utilization.

Objective To investigate the influence of fasudil on the epithelialmesenchymal transdifferentiation of renal tubular epithelial cells in diabetic rats and to explore the mechanism. Methods Wistar mts were randomly divided into three groups:control, diabetes and fasudil-treatment.All the rots were sacrificed after three months of feeding with or without fasudil.Pathological changes of the glomeruli and renal interstitium were studied by periodic acidSchiff'S staining and Masson staining, respectively.Expression of ROCKI,α-SMA,E-cadherin and the distribution of β-catenin was examined by immunohistochemistry.Changes in the MYPT1 phosphorylation profile and α-SMA,E-cadherin and membrane β-catenin expression were detected bv Western blot.Changes in the levels of ROCKI,E-cadherin and total β-eatenin mRNA expression were analyzed by real-time PCR. Results Fasudil treatment notably attenuated renal interstitial fibrosis in diabetic rats.Compared to the control rats.diabetic rats showed an elevated phosphorylation of MYFF1(P<0.01),increased expression of α-SMA(P<0.01),decreased expression of E-cadherin and membrane β-catenin(P<0.01,respectively)and increased expression of ROCKI,total β-catenin mRNA(P<0.01,respectively),decreased expression of E-cadherin mRNA(P<0.01 ). Fasudil treatment for diabetic rats attenuated MYPT1 phosphorylation (P<0.01), decreased α-SMA expression (P<0.01), increased E-cadherin and membrane (β-catenin expression (P<0.01, respectively), and reduced ROCKI, total β-catenin mRNA expression (P <0.01, respectively), increased expression of E-cadherin mRNA (P<0.01). Conclusions Fasudil may reduce the epithelial-mesenchymal transdifferentiation and renal interstitial fibrosis in diabetic rats through the inhibition of ROCK activity. Such effect further facilitates the recovery of the cell-cell adhesion among renal tubular epithelial cells and the formation of adhesion complex.

Objective To investigate whether erythropoietin (EPO) can inhibit the proapoptotic effect of high glucose on rat proximal tubular epithelial cells, and the possible mechanisms in which EPO exerts its anti-apoptotic role. Methods Rat proximal tubular epithelial cells (NRK-52E) were divided into 5 groups: normal control group, osmolarity control group, high glucose group, high glucose with EPO (50 U/ml) group and high glucose with EPO (100 U/ml) group. The expression of EPO receptor (EPOR) in NRK-52E cells was examined by immunocytochemistry. The effect of high glucose on the expression of EPOR was detected by Western blotting. The rate of apoptosis was evaluated by flow cytometry Annexin V-FITC/PI double stains. The intracellular ROS was detected using fluorescent probe CM-H2DCFDA. The expression of bcl-2, bax and caspase-3 mRNA were examined by RT-PCR. Results The expression of EPOR was demonstrated in NRK-52E cells, and high glucose could up-regulate the expression of EPOR. High glucose could induce oxidative stress in NRK-52E cells, and up-regulate the mRNA expression of bax and caspase-3, down-regulate the mRNA expression of bcl-2. These effects of high glucose on NRK-52E cells could be reversed by EPO. Conclusion EPO inhibits NRK-52E cells apoptosis induced by high glucose through attenuating oxidative stress,up-regulating theexpression of bcl-2 mRNA and down-regulating the expression of bax and caspase-3 mRNA, which may be mediated by EPOR.

Hyperlipidemia is one of the main basic lesions of blood vessels and organ diseases. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has been used in the prevention and treatment of hyperlipidemia with advantages such as little drug side effects and obvious efficacy. The establishment of hyperlipidemia diagnostic aid platform helped to improve treatment efficiency, and provide a platform for data acquisition, storage and analysis for research on hyperlipidemia syndrome standardization. At first, a collection system was implemented, which was consisted of tongue image and the text information of the other three diagnostic methods, for doctor's accurate mastering of patient's clinical manifesta-tions and improvement of therapeutic effect. Through this platform, a clustering algorithm was applied to analyze clin-ical information of four diagnostic methods among 897 hyperlipemia cases, which had been classified into 5 cate-gories. Compare disease characteristics of samples in every category with syndromes category and find out the rela-tionships between them, by which the foundation of hyperlipemia syndrome differentiation standardization will be es-tablish. It provided suggestions on TCM syndrome differentiation and diagnosis.

Objective To evaluate the therapeutic methods for stones in congenital anomalous kidneys. Methods The clinical outcomes of 126 patients(75 males and 51 females: mean age 39 years, range 12-66 years)who underwent extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL, n= 37), minimally invasive percutaneous nephrolithotomy (MPCNL, n = 41) or open surgery (n = 48) were retrospectively reviewed. There were 40 horseshoe kidneys(31.8%), 51 duplex kidneys(40.5%), 35 malrotated kidneys(27.8%). Seventyl calculi were located in left kidneys(55.6%)and 56 in right kid-neys(44.4%). There were 96 single stones(76.2%)and 30 complex stones(23.8%). The greatest di-ameter of stone ranged from0.8 cm to 2.2 cm(mean 1.5 cm) in ESWL group, 1.0 cm to 4.0 cm (mean 2.5 cm) in MPCNL group and 1.5 cm to 3.8 cm(mean 2.7 cm) in open surgery group. The therapeutic effects of 3 methods were compared. Results The stone-free rate at 1 session was 78.4%(29/31) in ESWL group, 85.4%(35/41) in MPCNL group and 87.5%(42/48) in open sur-gery group. No significant difference was found among the 3 groups(x2 = 1.39,P=0.50). The inci-dence of complications was 13.5% in ESWL group, 9.7% in MPCNL group and 6.3% in open sur-gery group(x2=1.28, P=0.53). Only 1 case of malrotated kidney suffered massive hemorrhage and was cured by selective embolism of renal artery. No major complications occurred in the other pa-tients. Conclusions With rigorous indication, ESWL or MPCNL is as safe and effective as open sur-gery in the management of stones in congenital anomalous kidneys. It should be considered as the pri-mary therapy. But the treatment must be individualized in terms of the type anomalous kidney, stone characteristics and obstruction.

Objective To explore the relationship between impulsiveness and risky decision-making among college students with pathological internet use ( PIU),as well as the moderating role of self-control. Methods Totally 542 undergraduates anonymously completed the Internet Addiction Test (IAT),Chinese Version of Barratt Impulsiveness Scale,Risk Preference Questionnaire,Self-Control Scale. Results ( 1) In loss frames, the scores of risky decision-making with high (20. 26±4. 83) and medium (20. 40±5. 53) level of impulsiveness among college students with PIU significantly were higher than those with low ( 18. 92 ± 5. 03) level of impulsiveness ( F(2,323)= 3. 79,P<0. 05,η2=0. 02). (2) There was a significant negative correlation between impulsiveness (60. 68±10. 40) and self-control (55. 56±9. 07) (r=-0. 60,P<0. 01). And there was a significant positive correlations between impulsiveness and risky decision-making in loss frames (20. 12±5. 26)(r=0. 13,P<0. 05). The risky decision-making in gain frames ( 17. 17±4. 38) was positively correlated with that in loss frames (r=0. 52,P<0. 01). (3) Self-control played a moderating role in the association between impulsiveness and risky decision-making in loss frames (β=0. 13,t=2. 31,P<0. 05). Conclusion In loss frames, impulsiveness is positively related with risky decision-making,and self-control plays a moderating role between impulsiveness and risky decision-making in loss frames among col-lege students with PIU.
