Chinese Journal of Information on Traditional Chinese Medicine 2006;0(06):-
Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of Chinese medicine in treating elderly herpes zoster, and study the clinical evaluation of the treatment with Chinese medicine from evidence-based medicine (EBM) view. Methods All the 156 elderly patients diagnosed with herpes zoster were randomly divided into treatment group (78) and control group (78). The former group was administered with Chinese medicine by oral administration and topical application, while the latter took aciclovir alone. All the case were treated for 10 days. Results The overall response rates of Chinese medicine and aciclovir in treatment herpes zoster were respectively 98.70% and 84.62% (P

AIM:To study the effect of neuregulin-1 ( NRG-1β) or captopril alone and their combination on myocardial cell apoptosis and related gene expression in rats with chronic heart failure .METHODS:Young male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into sham-operated group, heart failure group, NRG-1βgroup, captopril group and combined treatment group .The volume overloaded heart failure model in the rats was established by aortocaval fistula .The cardiac function was evaluated by determining the changes of hemodynamics and plasma BNP level .The apoptotic index ( AI) of myocardial cells was assayed by TUNEL .The protein levels of p-Akt, Bax and Bcl-2 in left ventricular tissue were detected by Western blot .RESULTS: The LVEDP, AI and the expression of Bax were significantly lower in NRG-1βgroup, captopril group and combined treatment group than those in heart failure group ( P<0.05 ) , while the values of ±dp/dtmax and the protein levels of p-Akt and Bcl-2 were significantly higher in NRG-1βgroup, captopril group and com-bined treatment group than those in heart failure group (P<0.05).The effect of combined treatment group was more signifi-cant ( P<0.05) than that in NRG-1βgroup and captopril group .CONCLUSION: Neuregulin-1βor captopril alone and the combination of them effectively improve the cardiac function and inhibit myocardial cell apoptosis in chronic heart failure rats. The therapeutic effect of combination of NRG-1βand captopril is better than that of NRG-1βor captopril alone .

Objective To study the expression of hTERT protein in precancerous lesions of human stomach, and to analyze the relationship between telomerase activity and cell apoptosis, in order to elucidate the effects of telomerase activity and cell apoptosis in the pathogenesis of gastric carcinoma. Methods Sp method was employed to detect the hTERT expression and the apoptosis was determined in situ by TUNEL staining in 64 patients with chronic gastritis and gastric carcinoma. Among the 64 patients, 16 suffered from chronic gastritis with gastratrophia, 15 with intestinal metaplasia, 14 with allotypic proliferation, and the 19 remainders suffered from gastric carcinoma. Results (1) The respective positive frequency of hTERT protein expression in chronic gastritis, intestinal metaplasia, gastric allotypic proliferation and human gastric carcinoma were 25.0%, 46.7%, 64.3% and 78.9%. The positive frequency of hTERT protein expression in human gastric carcinoma was significantly higher than that in gastric allotypic proliferation, intestinal metaplasia and chronic atrophic gastritis (P

By comparing with the molecule weights, retention times and product ion spectra of the standards, the cholic acid, deoxycholic acid and chenodeoxycholic acid were identified in the traditional Chinese compound medicine——“Qingkailing” injection by high performance liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry/mass spectrometry. Two other isomers of cholic acid and deoxycholic acid were also found, but tieir detail structure was still unknown due to the absence of standards. A quantitative method to determine cholic acid in the medicine was established and studied. An internal standard was used in quantitative analysis. When the concentration of cholic acid is from 875 ng/L to 140 μg/L, the chromatographic peak area and concentration are of good linear relation. The linear correlation coefficient was determined to be 0.9999 and the RSD is 2.04%. This method is simple, selective and highly sensitive, which is helpful for the quality control of traditional Chinese medicine.

Objective To investigate the effects of ultra-filtration extract from the mixture of Angelicae Sinensis Radix and Hedysarum Polybotrys (UFE-AH) on the expressions of HSP70 and eNOS in H2O2-induced endothelial cell apoptosis. Methods H2O2 induced ECV-304 cell apoptosis to prepare models. The experiment was divided into normal control group, model group, simple medicine group, medicine intervention group, and all treatment groups received relevant medicine for intervention. Flow cytometry (FCM) was used to detect apoptosis and concentration of intracellular Ca2+;RT-PCR was used to detect the mRNA expression of HSP70 and eNOS;Western blot was used to detect the expression of HSP70 protein;Nitrale reduetase and spectrophotometric method were employed to detect the content of NO. Results Compared with normal control group, cell apoptosis rate, concentration of intracellular Ca2+, and expression of HSP70 increased significantly in model group (P<0.05);gene expression of eNOS mRNA and content of NO decreased (P<0.05). Compared with model group, cell apoptosis rate and concentration of intracellular Ca2+dropped in medicine intervention group (P<0.05);expressions of HSP70, eNOS mRNA and content of NO increased (P<0.05). Conclusion UFE-AH can confront H2O2-induced cell apoptosis H2O2 of ECV-304 human umbilical vein endothelial by increasing the expressions of HSP70 and eNOS and content of NO, and reducing the intracellular calcium overload.

0.999). The relative standard deviation (RSD) of chromatogram area was less than 1.0% for all of them after six successive injections. The detection limit was 0.05 ?g/mL for norephedrine (NE), 0.04 ?g/mL for norpseudoephedrine (NPE), 0.1 ?g/mL for E and PE, and 0.2 ?g/mL for mephedrine (ME) and mepseudoephedrine (MPE), respectively (S/N≥3). The recovery rate was more than 97.1% for six ephedrine alkaloids. Under this method system, all of the above-mentioned six samples were tested and found to contain some of the impurity at different levels. Conclusion This developed method, which is very simple, perfect precision, high sensitivity, and selectivity, can be used for the qualitative and quantitative determination of impurities of ephedrine alkaloid-type samples.

Objective To analyze the relationship between cytotoxic T cells Perforin level, IFN-γand IL-10 in patients with chronic hepatitis B. Methods After a short-term cultivation of peripheral blood collected from 50 patients with chronic hepatitis B, a flow cytometry was employed to detect the levels of Per-forin, IFN-γ and IL-10 in CD8~+ cells to compare with those of the health donors the HBV DNA copies in their blood were also measured by RT-PCR to analyze the relationship with Perforin, IFN-γ, and IL-10 in CD8~+ cells. Results In patients with chronic hepatitis B, the levels of Perforin, IFN-γ and IL-10 in CD8~+ ceils were (5.30 ± 2.62)%, (4.05 ± 2.25) % and (0.77 ± 0.50) %, respectively, which were statistical-ly lower than health donors(the t values were 4.50, 4.56 and 4.20 respectively; P < 0.01) ; Of 26 cases of chronic hepatitis B patients with HBeAg-positive Pefforin and IFN-γ in CD8~+ T cells were (4.54 ± 1.93) % and (3.32 ± 1.59)%, respectively, significantly lower than those of the 24 chronic hepatitis B patients with HBeAg-negative (the t values were 2.22 and 2.54, respectively; P <0.05) ; And the levels of Perforin, IFN-γ had a negative relation with the HBV DNA copies (the coefficient correlations-0. 539 and-0. 340; P < 0.01 and P < 0.05). Conclusion In patients with chronic hepatitis B, the reduced levels of Pefforin, IFN-γ and IL-10 may be related with the long-term existence of HBV, and the protracted course of disease.
