Objective To observe the effects of diazepam on the cervix in relieving spasm, eliminating edema and improving dilation during the latent phase of labor. Methods One hundred normal parturients were randomly devided into study group ( n =50) and control group ( n =50). The study group was injected diazepam 10 mg in the cervix during the latent phase. The control group was given 10 mg of diazepam by intravenous injection. Results The dilating speed of cervix in study group was 2.81?1.92 cm/h. The mean time of the first stage of labor was 11.13?1.21 h, while the control group was 1.98?0.92 cm/h and 13.34?0.44 h respectively. The differences between two groups were statistically significant ( P

Objective To observe the effects of phlorohlucinol on cervical dilatation. Methods Totaling 250 normal parturients were randomized into four study groups (50 in each group) and control group (n=50). Phloroglucinol was given in the study groups(group1,2,3 and 4)at the dose of 40 mg to the cervix and/or 160 mg and 200 mg intravenously during the latent phase. The control group (group1) received only atropine (0.5 mg) intravenously. Results The overall speed of cervical dilatation in the study group was (2.82?1.82) cm/h and (1.78?1.01) cm/h in the control group. The mean time of the first stage of labor was (14.23?1.11) h and (17.71?2.23) h in the study and control group, respectively (P

Chinese Journal of Perinatal Medicine 2003;0(05):-
Objective To evaluate the different effect of 50 g glucose challenge test (GCT) on screening the glucose intolerance at different gestational age. Methods Two thousand pregnant women were divided into 2 groups(1000 in each). Women in group A received 50 g GCT at 14 and 28 gestational weeks respectively and 75 g oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) were performed in those cases with abnormal 50 g GCT. 50 g GCT was performed after fasting at 14 gestational weeks and repeated one hour after a meal at 28 gestational weeks. Women in group B were screened by 50 g GCT at 28 gestational weeks and followed by 75 g OGTT for those with abnormal 50 g GCT. The diagnostic effect of 50 g GCT for screening at different weeks of gestation with different ways was evaluated. Results (1)The rate of abnormal result of 50 g GCT was higher in fasting cases than that of cases testing after meal (15.6% vs 12.2%, P

The authors punctured the acupoints Jianyu (LI 15), Jianliao (TE 14), Jianzhen (SI 9), Binao (LI 14), Quchi (LI 11), Shousanli (LI 10) and Hegu (LI 4) and applied massage to the affected regions to treat 32 cases of the myotenositis of long head of biceps brachii. The results showed 8 cases were cured, 10 cases were remarkably effective, 11 cases were effective and 3 cases got no effect; the total effective rate was 90.6%.

Objective:To study the influence of different methods on serum soluble intercellular adhesion molecule1 (sICAM1) in patients with acute cerebral infarction. Methods: Double antibody enzyme-linked immunoadsorbent assay was used. Results and Conclusion: Scalp point-to-point acupuncture has a significant reducing effect on abnormally elevated serum sICAM1 in patients with acute cerebral infarction. Its curative effect is superior to that of simple Western medicine. There is a significant difference between them (P<0.05).

Objective To discusses the effect of different nursing methods on anastomotic healing after low colorectal surgery. Methods 60 patient with colorectal cancer undergoing low anastomosis were randomly divided into the experimental group and the control group with 30 cases in each. The experimental group adopted modified nursing care, while the control group received routine nursing care. The defecation times and incidence of complications were observed between the two groups. Results The defecation frequency of the experimental group was less than the control group, and the incidence of rectal stimulation sign, anastomotic fistula and obstruction was less in the experimental group. Conclusions Modifed nursing methods have certain effects on preventing postoperative complications of low colorectal anastomosis.

Objective To review the anatomic and visual outcomes of a series of patients with macular holes who underwent vitreous surgery without adjunctive therapy. Methods We performed a retrospective review of 16 patients who underwent vitrectomy, fluid-gas exchange and perflu oropropane(C3 F8) gas temponade for 14 eyes with idiopathic and 2 eyes with traumatic macular holes. Results Anatomical closure of the macular holes was achieved in 15(93%) of 16 eyes with an average follow-up of 7 months. Only one eye needed performing second surgery. Three(19%) eyes achieved postoperative visual acuity of 0.4, four (25%)eyes 0.2~0.3,and nine(56%)eyes 0.1 or worse. Conclusions Vitreous surgery without adjunctive therapy with intraocular gas tamponade and postoperative posturing is a well tolerated and effective intervention for idiopathic or some traumatic macular holes. Anatomical closure of the macular hole is associated with a significant improvement in visual acuity in most eyes.

Objective: To evaluate the clinical efficacy of scalp penetrating technique plus rehabilitation therapy in treating acute cerebral hemorrhage. Methods: The patients were allocated randomly by computer into scalp acupuncture plus rehabilitation group (A),rehabilitation group (B) and Western medication control group (C). Results: The total effective rate and the curative and remarkable effective rate were 92.9% and 75.0%respectively in Group A, and 84.6% and 69.2% respectively in Group B and 75.9% and 37.9% respectively in Group C. There was a very significant difference in comparison of Group A and Group B with Group C (P<0.01, P<0.05). There was no significant difference between Group A and Group B (P>0.05). But the total effective rate was significantly higher in Group A than in Group B. Conclusion: Scalp acupuncture plus rehabilitation therapy can obviously enhance the clinical effect in cerebral hemorrhage, reduce the neural deficit due to acute cerebral hemorrhage and improve the ability in daily life.
