AIM:To study the effect of antioxidation in subacute aging model mice with Jiangtang compound recipe which composed of kudzuvine root, heartleaf houttuynia herb and Evonymus alatas. METHODS: By using the D-galactose-induced aging mice, the body weight,the content of malondialdehyde (MDA),the activities of superoxide dismutarse(SOD) and glutothine peroxidase(GSH-Px) in serum and tissues were determined. RESULTS:To the model mice, Jiangtang compound recipe (14, 7 g/kg, i.g.) reduced the content of MDA, enhanced the activities of SOD and GSH-Px in serum and tissuses, inhibited the decrease of body weight. CONCLUSION: Jiangtang compound recipe shows a remarkable anti-oxidative effect on the D-galactose-induced aging mice.

AIM:To study the effects and mechanisms of a novel sulfonylureous compound 1 ｛4 [2 (4 bromobenzenesulfonaminoethyl)phenylsufonyl｝ 3 (trans 4 methylcyclohexyl) urea, G004, on antithrombosis. METHODS: The influence of compound G004 on the vasoconstrictor action, platelet aggregation and thrombosis formation was studied. The effects of compound G004 on the tail vein bleeding time in mice was examined. The influence of compound G004 on the release of prostanglandin I 2 and thromboxan A 2 from ECV304 cells was investigated. The measurement of cytosolic free Ca 2+ in attached ECV304 cells loaded with Fluo3/AM was carried out. RESULTS: Compound G004 did not inhibit the contraction of rat aorta rings induced by norepinephrine or potassium chloride, but potently inhibit human platelet aggregation challenged by arachidonic acid and adenosine diphosphate. Compound G004 significantly prolonged the tail vein bleeding time in mice and occlusion time of carotid artery in experimentally thrombotic rats. Compound G004 reduced mice mortality induced by the collagen plus epinephrine in a dose dependent manner. Compound G004 enhanced PGI 2 release and reduced TXA 2 secretion from ECV304 cells. G004 had no effect on the increase of cytosolic free Ca 2+ induced by patassium chloride. CONCLUSION: The compound G004 has a remarkable antithrombotic effect in vivo. Its active mechanism may be attributed to inhibition of platelet aggregation, enhancing PGI 2 generation and decreasing TXA 2 secretion from human umbilical vein endothelium.

AIM To study the pharmacokinetic characters following oral administration of colon specific tinidazole tablets in healthy dogs METHOD The plasma and intestine content concentration of tinidazole was determined by RP HPLC method following a single oral dose of 500 mg of two formulations given to each dogs in an open randomized two way crossover design RESULT The main pharmacokinetic parameters of test and reference tablets were as follow: T max : (6 3?1 2) h and (2 4?1 1) h; C max : (46 23?8 93) mg?L -1 and (58 08?14 65) mg?L -1 ; AUC 0-t : (423 21?93 08) mg?h?L -1 and (458 22?112 07) mg?h?L -1 The relative bioavailability of tinidazole colon specific enteric tablets was 92 9%?6 6%. 6 5 h after intake of colon specific tablets, there were a great deal of tinidazole in dogs colon but almost no tinidazole in small intestine CONCLUSION The result demonstrated that the colon tropic effect of the tablets is significant in dogs

Objective:This study evaluates the relationship between carcino-embryonic antigen (CEA) and carbohydrate antigen 153 (CA153) continuous and remarkable reduction after chemotherapy and no-imaging progression in patients with advanced breast can-cer. Methods: Medical records of 93 patients who received chemotherapy in the Oncology Department of the General Hospital of Shenyang Military Command were included in the retrospective analysis. A total of 188 CEA and CA153 serum data were collected from response evaluations that included 105 CEA cases and 139 CA153 cases. Predictive validity of serum CEA and CA153 was as-sessed for diagnosing no-imaging progression. Results:CEA was continuously reduced by 10%, with sensitivity of 54.1%and specificity of 95%. CA153 was continuously reduced by 40%, with sensitivity of 19.1%and specificity of 96.6%. Conclusion:Serum CEA and CA153 could be considered as response evaluation tools when they are continuously reduced by at least 10%and 40%, respectively.

Objective To develop a new kind of tracheal catheter for large or medium -sized surgical anesthesia as a medical equipment of respiratory management,and to rescue the patients with anhelation of respiratory arrest,which is essential to first-aid treatment and will be widely used clinically.Methods The disposable non-toxic transparent plastic was adopted,which was reinforced by the spiral stainless steel wire with regular separations.The diameter of the tracheal catheter varied with the different models.The tracheal catheter was composed of the items put into the trachea when applied for anesthesia such as the inflatable bladder and liquid mouth,the ones connected with the anesthesia machine such as the ring lines regulating direction of the front end of the catheter,and the syringe adapters for the liquid and gas.Results The flexible,air-proof tracheal catheter,with its direction adjustable,injected the medicine through its front end.Conclusion The tracheal catheter can be used for intratracheal medication,and will be popularized clinically.

AIM: To approach the antiobesity action and mechanisms of the daidzein derivative: LRXH609(LRX).METHODS: The body weight,Lee′s index,total weight of celiac fat tissue,food intake,serum glucose and lipids in obese rats induced by a high-fat diet were measured and the antiobesity action was tested after LRX was administered for 30 days.3T3-L1 pre-adipocytes were induced by in vitro culture,the effects of LRX on cell proliferation,lipogenesis,lipolysis were observed.RESULTS: The body weight,Lee′s index,fat tissue weight in obese rats were significantly decreased by LRX,and the concentrations of TC,FFA in serum were decreased,the proliferation of 3T3-L1 pre-adipocytes was inhibited,the activities of hormone sensitive lipase in 3T3-L1 pre-adipocytes were significantly elevated,the glycerine release from adipocytes was promoted and the concentrations of TG in adipocytes were decreased.CONCLUSION: LRX plays a role in antiobesity action and regulating blood lipid and the mechanism might be related to inhibiting proliferation and differentiation of pre-adipocytes,stimulating TG decomposition by activating hormone-sensitive lipase and decreasing the TG storage in adipocyte.

BACKGROUND:At present,using membrane materials to separate spinal dura mater and scar tissue or using semiliquid materials to surround the dimension of operation are very common after laminectomy.However,therapeutic eflfects ale not satisfactory.Inhibition to the proliferation of fibroblasts,which are the main components of repairing cells,and regulating collagen metabolism have become a hot spot for preventing and treating pathological scar by a biological method.OBJECTIVE:To compare the therapeutic effects of topical application of different concentrations of mitomycin C (MMC)on preventing pefidural adhesion in rats after laminectomy by a qualitative and quantitative combined method.DESIGN:A completely randomized grouping.controlled animal experiment.SETTING:Department of Orthopaedics,Second People's Hospital of Lianyungang City.MATERIALS:Forty healthy adult male SD rats,weighing 200-220 g,were provided by the Animal Experimental Center,Nanjing Medical University.MMC was produced in Union Fermentation Co.,Ltd(Batch No.425ACI,Import drugs registration No.H20020163,Japan).METHODS:The study was performed at the Animal Laboratory Center,Nanjing Medical University,and the Basic Experimental Center,Medical College,Jiangsu University from June 2004 to October 2006.The 40 SD rats were ralndomly divided into 4 groups with 10 rats in each group:MMC high-,medium-,and low-concentration groups,and a control group.After anesthesia,each rat was removal of L1 vertebral plate.A defect(0.2 cm×0.5 cm)was created to expose duml mater.After hemostasia,cotton Pads soaked either with various concentrations ofMMC(0.1,0.05,0.01 g/L)or saline were covered on the laminectomy defects in the three MMC-treated groups and the control group for 5 minutes respeetively.The protocol was carried out in accordance with ethical guidelines for the use and care of animals.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:After the operation,4 rats were randomly selected from all anesthetized rats in each group,separately.The peridural scar tissue in the laminectomy segment was cut for calculating the contents of hydroxyproline.Spine columns in the laminectomy segment including Surrounding muscle tissue were resected for measuring irregular sear transverse area and counting the number 0ffibroblasts.The degree of peridural scar adhesion was evaluated by the light microscope.RESULTS:Forty rats were included in the final analysis.In the control group,peridural scar tissue was dense and closely adhered to dura mater.In the MMC high-concentration group.no noticeable peridural adhesion was found.and contents of hydroxyproline,collagen tissue area and the amount of fibroblasts in the scartissue were significantly reduced compared to control group(all P＜0.05).In the MMC medium-and low-concentration groups,contents of hydroxyproline,collagen tissue area and the amount of fibroblasts had reduced to different extents compared to control group.There was significant difference only in the amount of fibroblasts between the MMC mediumconcentration group and the control group(P＜0.05).Incontinuous adhesion between scar tissue and dura mater was found in the MMC medium-and low-concentration groups.CONCLUSION:Topical application of 0.1 g/L MMC can effectively reduce peridural scar tissue hyperplasia and avoid peridural scartissue adhesion afterlaminectomy.

Electrocardiographic (ECG) signal are a kind of basic physiological signals of human body, and are very important in clinical diagnosis. But the ECG signals from body surface are often interfered by noises such as 50 Hz noise, baseline displacemant, electromyography (EMG) noise and edv. These noises bring obstacle to the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases. To eliminate the ECG signals noises mentioned above,this paper adopts LMS adaptive algorithm and wavelet transform theory to design three kinds of digital adaptive filters-adaptive noise cancellation filter, wavelet transform filter and adaptive signal dividing filter to filter the corresponding noises. The results show that the three kinds of noises existing in the ECG signal have been efficiently eliminated.

Objective To study the relationship between rs290487,rs7903146 of transcription factor 7-Like 2 (TCF7L2) gene and post-transplantation diabetes mellitus in Han Zhejiang population.Method We genotyped two single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) across the TCF7L2 gene in 90 unrelated post-transplantation type 2 diabetes mellitus (PTDM) patients,112 unrelated non-PTDM patients,and a set of post-transplantation diabetes mellitus patients (n =68).Genotyping was performed using direct sequencing SNP Genotyping Assays.The association of SNPs with post-transplantation diabetes mellitus was analyzed.Result In this study,there was statistically significant difference in the T-allele of TCF7L2.rs7903146 between PTDM group (5.1％) and non-PTDM group (1.3％) (P＜0.05).For rs7903146,the frequencies of genotype C/C,C/T (70.0％) and T/T (35.8％) was statistically significant in PTDM group (P＜0.05).For rs290487,the frequencies of genotype C/C,C/T and T/T was 14.7％,38.2％ and 47.1％ respectively in PTDM group,P＞ 0.05.The incidence of PTDM was significantly higher in patients with the CT genotype (odds ratio 18.54 [95％ CI 1.21-282.26],P =0.03).Conclusion With the current sample size,we found that the CT genotype of rs7903146 was significantly associated with post-transplantation diabetes mellitus.

Objective To investigate the distribution and severity of cerebral artery stenosis and the prognosis in elderly patients with acute cerebral infarction using digital subtraction angiography (DSA). Methods The 432 elderly patients with acute cerebral ischemia infarction underwent DSA,and they were divided into two groups: elderly group (n= 320) and non-elderly group (n= 112). The characteristics of distribution and severity of cerebral artery stenosis, the relationship between artery stenosis and relative risk factors, and the prognosis of acute cerebral infarction were analyzed.Results In elderly group, 270 cases (84.3%) had intra- and extra- cranial artery stenosis, of which 98 patients (30.6%) with pure extracranial arterial stenosis, 132 patients (41.3%) with combined extra- and intra-cranial artery stenosis. They were both significantly higher than the corresponding data in non-elderly group [23 cases (20.5%) and 28 cases (25%), P＜0.05 and 0.01]. The prevalences of moderate and severe cerebral artery stenosises were higher in elderly group than in nonelderly group [224 locations (52.1%) vs. 51 locations (40.8%), P＜0. 05]. The number of patients with previous history of cerebrovascular disease was much more and the prognosis was much worse in elderly group than in non-elderly group (both P＜0.05), Conclusions The elderly patients with cerebral infarction have severer cerebral artery stenosis, increased proportion of multivessel disease and poor prognosis. So it is very important to take aggressive treatment as soon as possible, and to make secondary prevention and effective rehabilitation so as to improve their prognosis.
