Objective To explore the clinical characteristics of vagrant psychiatric patients with different gender and summarize nursing measures. Methods Toally 1165 vagrant psychiatric patients who all were inpatient in Shenzhen Corning Hospital between July 2014 to July 2015 were analyzed retrospectively. Seperately we analyzed incidence of nosocomial infection, aggressive behaviour, trouble-making level, restraint and protection, and activity daily living. Results There was 735 male (63.1%) and 430 (36.9%) female in 1165 vagrant psychiatric patients. Comparing with female patients, We found male patients had higher rate of nosocomial infection , aggressivity and accident level , who were susceptible to be restrained and protected ( P < 0 . 001 ) and needed more care (P<0.05). Conclusion We should specially take precautionary measures when nursing vagrant psychiatric patients with different gender.

BACKGROUND: Retinitis pigmentosa(RP) is a group of commonest genetic blindness-inducing eyeground diseases, which have relative great heterogenicity in both heredity and phenotype. Pierce et al discovered a new retinal photoreceptor cell specific gene-RP1 in 1999, and also found in their following research that the mutation of this gene can induce autosomal dominant RP(adRP) . Present RP1 molecular genetic researches mainly concentrate in Caucasians.OBJECTIVE: To investigate the mutation frequency, characteristics of RP1gene in Chinese RP patients and its role in RP pathogenesis.DESIGN: A comparative study by employing RP patients as subjects and healthy individuals as control.SETTING: Gene diagnosis and therapy center in a hospital affiliated to a military medical university of Chinese PLA.PARTICIPANTS: Totally 101 RP patients without genetic classification were visited patients of the outpatient Department of Ophthalmology of Hong Kong Prince Wales Hospital and Hong Kong Hospital of Ophthalmology between January 1998 and December 2001, which aged between 10 and 79years old(including 43 male and 58 female cases) with an average age of 40years old. Inclusive criteria: Cases who were in accordance with the general national and international standards for RP diagnosis(including funduscope observation and electroretinogram test). Exclusive criteria: patients of other retinal pathological changes. A total of 190 healthy adults were selected in control group, which had no RP family history and no RP or other eye diseases in eye examination, for the confirmation of whether the detected variation was the polymorphism of RP1 gene.METHODS: Totally 101 cases received conformation sensitive electrophoresis(CSGE) and DNA direct sequencing analyses to detect the point mutation in entire RP1 gene encoding range.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Mutation frequency and patterns of RP1gene in Chinese RP patients and its role in RP pathogenesis.RESULTS: The mutation detectable rate of RP1 gene in all PR patients was 1/101. Mutation ultimately caused serious truncation in RP1 protein. The phenotype of the disease might be originated from functional deficiency in PR1protein synthesis. In addition, 10 missense mutations were found in our study population, most of which were RP1 gene polymorphism except the unconfirmed pathological significance of M479I.CONCLUSION: The deletion of corresponding segments(codon 1052-1933) in RP1 protein would induce RP. Large-scale RP1 genotying is necessary, which also can discover more RP-inducing mutation and RP1 gene polymorphism different from other races simultaneously for further fundamental therapy of RP and thorough improvement of the quality of life of the patients.

Objective To determine the effect of omental flap wrapping of pancreaticoduodenectomy on postoperative pancreatic fistula and intra-abdominal bleeding in patients undergoing pancreaticiduodenectomy through meta-analysis of published studies. Methods Articles about whether omental flap wrapping could prevent postoperative pancreatic fistula and intra-abdominal bleeding were searched in databases of MEDLINE,PUBMED and EMBASE.14 English article were found and according to including and excluding criteria,4 eligible articles with a total of 2971 patients were selected.Random effects model was used to analyze odds ratios and 95% confidence intervals (CIs).Results 1129 patients were in omental wrapping group, and 1842 patients in nonomental wrapping group.Omental roll-up during pancreaticoduodenectomy could not prevent postoperative pancreatic fistula (OR =0.81,95 % CI 0.40~1.63,P>0.05) or postoperative abdominal bleeding (OR=0.67,95% CI 0.28~1.59,P>0.05).The sensitivity analysis showed the pancreatic fistula rate was lower in the nonomental roll-up group than that in the omental roll-up group (OR=1.24,95% CI 1.03~1.50,P<0.05).Conclusions Omental wrapping can not decrease the risk of pancreatic fistula and abdominal bleeding after pancreaticoduodenectomy.Further randomized controlled trials are needed to identify the effect of omental wrapping technique for pancreaticoduodenectomy.
4.Traumatic lacunar infarction in basal ganglion in children.
Chinese Journal of Traumatology 1999;2(2):125-126
Traumatic lacunar infarction in basal ganglion in children under 10 year-old is more liable to occur. Before CT was available, the nature and localization of the lesion in this region had been difficult. It is sometimes difficult to define a correct treatment. Here we report 32 cases of this disease we have treated in recent years.

Clinically, renal angiomyolipoma(RAML)is a commonly-seen benign tumor of the kidney.Usually,it is accidentally found by physical examination or when the clinical relevant symptoms occur due to tumor rupture with bleeding or the tumor size becomes enlarged.Selective arterial embolization(SAE)has become the primary treatment for RAML.SAE can be used as a first-line treatment option in acute rupture with bleeding of RAML.Moreover,SAE is safe and effective in preventing RAML bleeding and other serious complications, which has already been proved. This review focuses on the indications and contraindications for SAE treatment of RAML,selection of embolization materials, evaluation of efficacy, complications and their prevention and treatment, etc.(J Intervent Radiol,2024,33:560-564)

ObjectiveTo analyze the risk factors of dementia among healthy elderly individuals in the middle of their lives. MethodsA total of 175 participants aged 55 to 75 from two communities in Beijing were included from July, 2021 to April, 2023. Cardiovascular Risk Factors, Aging, and Incidence of Dementia (CAIDE) related risk factors and other demographic data were collected. According to the CAIDE assessment, participants with scores ≥ 9 were as high-risk group, and those with scores < 9 were as low-risk group. They were evaluated with Stroop Color Word Test (SCWT), two elements 1-back task paradigm and the revised Trail Making Test (TMT); measured the grip strength, 30 s forearm flexion tests and five sit-to-stand tests; the average step speed and step length of a 10-meter walk were recorded. ResultsThe average total score of CAIDE was 9.86 in the high-risk group, and was 4.95 in the low-risk group. There was no difference in age between two groups (P = 0.188). There were differences in the proportion of participants of male, less than seven years' education, systolic blood pressure > 140 mmHg, cholesterol > 6.5 mmol/L, body mass index > 30 kg/m2, and lack of physical activity between two groups (χ2 > 3.116, P < 0.05). The grip strength (t = -4.174), walking speed (t = -2.414), SCWT accuracy (Z = -2.684) were all worse in the high-risk group than in the low-risk group (P < 0.05). Logistic regression analysis showed that walking speed (OR = 25.483), grip strength (OR = 1.133) and SCWT accuracy (OR = 37.430) were independent influencing factors of dementia (P < 0.05). ConclusionWeaker grip strength, slower gait speed and worse inhibitory control might be independent influencing factors of dementia.
