OBJECTIVE:To establish the quality standard of Yijing xiaotong capsules.METHODS:The constituents of Angelica sinensis,Salvia miltiorrhiza,Cinnamomum cassia and Corydalis yanhusuo in Yijing xiaotong capsules were identified by TLC;and the content of ferulic acid in A.sinensis was determined by HPLC.RESULTS:The TLC spots of A.sinensis,S.miltiorrhiza,C.cassia and C.yanhusuo were all distinctive and well-separated.The calibration curve was linear for ferulic acid in the range of 0.002 8～0.044 8 ?g?mL-1(r=0.999 9)and its average recovery was 98.46%(RSD=1.53%,n=6).CONCLUSION:The established standard is suitable for the quality control of Yijing xiaotong capsule.

OBJECTIVE: To establish an HPLC method for the determination of Gastrodine in Shulenaoxintong granules. METHODS: The chromatographic column was Hypersil ODS(250 mm?4.0 mm,5 ?m) with a mobile phase consisted of acetonitrile-0.05%phosphorin acid(2∶98) at a flow rate of 1 mL?min-1. The detective wavelength was set at 220 nm. RESULTS: A good linearity was obtained in the range of 0.1～2.0 ?g(r=1.000 0), and the average recovery was 96.6% (RSD=0.80%,n=6). CONCLUSION: The method is convenient, rapid, and reproducible, and it is applicable for the qua-lity control of Shulenaoxintong granules.

Objective To explore the association of mean platelet volume and neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(AECOPD)in elderly patients and its clinical value for the short-term prognosis. Methods A total of 52 patients with AECOPD who had been hospitalized during the period of April 2014 to April 2015 were enrolled in this prospective observational study. Levels of mean platelet volume (MVP),C-reactive protein,complete blood count,D-dimer,fibrinogen,percent-of-predicted FEV1 and percent-of-predicted FEV1/FVC were measured at admission(acute exacerbation)and after 3 months(stable period). Fifty-two age-and sex-matched healthy individuals constituted the control group. Pearson′s correlation was used to analyze the association of MPV with WBC,NLR,CRP,DD,FIB,FEV1%,and FEV1/FVC%. Results In AECOPD,as compared with stable COPD and the control group,levels of WBC,NLR,D-dimer,fibrinogen and CRP elevated;FEV1,FVC,percent-of-predicted FEV1 and percent-of-predicted FEV1/FVC declined;and MPV level decreased obviously. As a cut-off point of MVP level of<8.35fl for predicting AECOPD,it showed a sensitivity of 84.6%and a specificity of 86.5%. A decreased MVP level was significantly correlated with an increased in white blood cell count, neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio,D-dimer,fibrinogen and C-reactive protein level(P=0.01,0.02,0.01,0.02,and 0.01 respectively). Conclusions Mean platelet volume and neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio may be inflammatory markers inAE COPD,and measurement of mean platelet volume level may be useful for identifying elderly patients at increased risks for acute exacerbation.

A series of experiments designed in accordance with the biogeochemi-cal hypothesis on the etiology of Keshan disease was performed. It was shown that the pathogenic factors of Keshan disease existed in the grains cultivated in the endemic regions ("endemic regions" mean those localities where Keshan disease has been prevalent). These factors had an ability to elicit a metabolic derangement of calcium in the myocardium and indu- ce some latent damages in myocardial cells. Furthermore, there were definite relations between these factors and the nitrite. With the aid of nitrite, more serious myocardial necroses were produced by these pathogenic factors. It was also proved that the addition of ammonium molybdate to the grains from the endemic regions produced some prophylactic effect in reducing the myocardial injury in expermental animals. After an observation on fertilizing the soil in endemic region with ammonium molybdate for four years, the preliminary result showed that this measure seemed to be effective in preventing Keshan disease.Based on the results cited above, we considered that molybdenum deficiency and nitrite excess might play an important role in the occurrence of Keshan disease, but the exact pathogenic factors in the grains remained to be studied further.

Objective To investigate the risk factors,clinic charactertics and survival prognosis of pulmonary embolism (PE) in patients with lung cancer.Methods The clinic data of 28 lung cancer patients with PE,hospitalized in department of respiratory and critical care medicine of Tianjin Chest Hospital between June 2012 to June 2015,were retrospectively reviewed.Eleven of them were diagnosed with primary lung cancer and PE (symptomatic group),and 17 lung cancer patients were found PE accidentally (asymptomatic group).A total of 56 lung cancer patients without PE were used as control subjects (no PE group).Data of pathological types,clinical staging of lung cancer,systemic chemotherapy,white blood cell (WBC),hemoglobin (Hb),platelet (PLT),D-dimer (DD),albumin (ALB) and C-reactive protein (CRP) were analyzed by univariate analysis in the symptomatic group and asymptomatic group.Logistic regression analysis was carried out on the statistically significant indexes to observe the influencing factors.The morphology and location of the remobilization images were analyzed in lung cancer patients with PE.The median time to embolism and survival of PE patients were compared between symptomatic group and asymptomatic group.Results The proportion of adenocarcinoma,systemic chemotherapy and stage Ⅲ + Ⅳ were significantly higher in PE group than those in no PE group (P ＜ 0.01).The ratio of white blood cells (WBC)＞ 11× 109/L (hyperleukocytosis) and albumin (ALB) ＜30 g/L and D-dimer (DD)＞ 0.5 mg/L were significantly higher in PE group than those of no PE group (P ＜ 0.05).There were no statistical differences in other indicators including clinical symptoms between the two groups (P ＞ 0.05).The logistic regression analysis showed that adenocarcinoma,chemotherapy,WBC＞ 11× 109/L and DD＞0.5 mg/L were the risk factors of lung cancer with PE (P ＜ 0.05).There was higher ratio of asymptomatic PE in lung cancer patients with PE.There were no significant differences in morphology and location of the remobilization images in symptomatic group.The median time of embolization was 3.6 months (95％ CI:3.2-4.0) in the asymptomatic group,which was significantly earlier than that in the symptomatic group (10.5 months,95％ CI:8.88-12.12,P ＜ 0.01).The median survival time was 7.2 months (95％ CI:5.86-8.56) in the asymptomatic group,which was significantly longer than that of symptomatic group (2.8 months,95％ CI:2.48-3.12,P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion Lung adenocarcinom,systemic chemotherapy,hypoproteinemia and increased D-dimer are the independent risk factors in lung cancer patients with PE.PE in lung cancer is frequently asymptomatic in the early stage.Compared to symptomatic patients,asymptomatic cases have better prognosis.

Objective To describe the exercise participation of residents in China,and to provide the scientific basis for developing intervention strategies.Method The data of 2002 China National Nutrition and Health Survey was used for the analysis.66 682 subjects(male 32 287,female 34 395) aged 6 years and above were involved.Results The overall rate of exercise participation of people in China was 15.7%,while that of urban residents(27.5%) was higher than that of the rural counterparts(11.1%).of all age-groups,18～years group had the lowest rate of exercise participation.8.0% people engaged in regular exercise while 7.7% people in occasional exercise.More urban residents(16.8%) engaged in regular exercise than their rural counterparts did(4.5%).The rates of regular exercise of residents in 6～years and 13～years groups were lower than those of occasional exercise,but the rates of regular exercise of people in 18～yrs,45～yrs and over 60～yrs groups were higher than those of occasional exercise.The types of exercise varied obviously among different age groups.Conclusion The rate of exercise participation of people in China is quite low.The guideline for physical activity of different target population in China should be developed in order to improve their participating rate of exercise and improve their health.

OBJECTIVE:To observe clinical efficacy and safety of paclitaxel or 5-fluorouracil combined with nadaplatin in the treatment of advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC). METHODS:42 patients with advanced NPC were randomly divided into observation group and control group(n=21). 2 groups of patients were treated with radiotherapy. Observation group received che-motherapy of paclitaxel(135 mg/m2,d1)and nedaplatin(80 mg/m2,d 2-4);control group received chemotherapy of 5-fluoroura-cil(500 mg/m2,d1-5)and nedaplatin(80 mg/m2,d1-3);a treatment course lasted for 3 weeks,and both groups received 2 courses of treatment. Clinical efficacy, survival rate and ADR were observed in 2 groups. RESULTS:The overall response rate was 95.2%in observation group and 90.5% in control group,with no significant difference between 2 groups (P>0.05). The 3-year overall survival rate and progression-free survival rate were 81.0% and 71.4% in observation group and 76.2% and 66.6% in control group,with no significant difference(P>0.05). The incidence of nausea and vomiting in observation group were lower than in con-trol group,while the incidence of oral mucosa inflammation was higher than control group,with statistical significance(P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS:The chemoradiotherapy of paclitaxel or 5-fluorouracil combined with nadaplatin have similar therapeutic efficacy for advanced NPC. ADR by chemoradiotherapy should be monitored closely and treated timely.

Objective To investigate the association between the polymorphisms of brain-derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF) gene C270T and sporadic Alzheimer's disease(SAD) in Han Chinese.Methods The polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RELP) was used to detect BDNF gene C270T genotype and allele frequencies in 55 SAD patients and 80 age-and sex-matched healthy people(as normal control group).Results The frequencies distribution of BDNF gene C270T genotype and allele in the normal control group were suit to Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium(?2=0.167,P=0.682).The frequencies distribution of genotype and allele in the SAD group[C/C:52(94.5%),C/T:3(5.5%) and C:97.27%,T:2.73%]and normal control group[C/C:74(92.5%),C/T:6(7.5%) and C:96.25%,T:3.75%] were no statistical differences.Conclusion There is no association between the polymorphisms of BDNF gene C270T and SAD in Han Chinese.

Objective To review the efficacy and safety of brucea javanica oil in the adjuvant therapy of primary hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).Methods China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI),China Biology Medicine (CBM),VIP,Wanfang database,Pubmed,Web of Science,ScienceDirect,and Cochrane Library were searched from their inception to December 2015.Then contact with the field experts and correspondence authors for gray literature.Two reviewers independently searched the databases,performed data extraction,and appraised the publications.The Reviewer Manager 5.3 software was employed for data analysis.Results Fifteen clinical trials with 1 128 HCC patients were included.Meta-analysis confirmed that the brucea javanica oil group,compared to the control group,was more advantageous to reduce the incidence of postoperative fever,bone marrow suppression,and gastrointestinal reaction.In addition,it might reduce the level of alpha fetoprotein (AFP),enhance immunity,and improve clinical symptoms.However,more evidence would be needed to support these results.Conclusions Brucea javanica oil is considered to reduce toxicity and increase efficiency in the adjuvant therapy for the HCC,but more high quality,multi-center,large sample,randomized,double-blind clinical trials are also needed for supporting this view.
