International Eye Science 2019;19(11):1940-1944
AIM: To analyze the control effect of orthokeratology(OK)combined with atropine of low concentration on moderate to low myopia in adolescents.
METHODS: Totally 76(152 eyes)adolescents with moderate to low myopia who were admitted to the department from January 2016 were enrolled. According to the voluntary principle, they were divided into orthokeratology group(OK group, n=36 cases, 72 eyes)and orthokeratology combined with atropine of low concentration group(combination group, n=40 cases, 80 eyes). The OK glasses were given for the two groups. The combination group was additionally given 0.1g/L atropine eye drops. All were followed up for 1a. The changes of uncorrected visual acuity, diopter, axial length, intraocular pressure, tear film function and corneal parameters were measured before and after wearing glasses. The incidence of complications was statistically analyzed.
RESULTS: There were no significant differences in uncorrected visual acuity, diopter, axial length and intraocular pressure between the two groups before wearing glasses and at 1a of wearing glasses(P>0.05). The change of uncorrected visual acuity before wearing glasses and at 1a of wearing glasses of combination group was higher than that of OK group while the differences in diopter and axial length were lower than those of OK group(P<0.05). Before wearing glasses, there were no significant differences in the lipid layer thickness(LLT), object scattering index(OSI)or tear film rupture time(tear film break-up time, BUT)between the two groups(P>0.05). At 1a of wearing glasses, LLT and BUT of combination group were higher than those of OK group while OSI was lower than that of OK group(P<0.05). Before wearing glasses, there were no significant differences in corneal curvature, corneal thickness or anterior chamber depth between the two groups(P>0.05). At 1a of wearing glasses, the changes of above indexes of combination group were lower than those of OK group(P<0.05). BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVEPubMed is generally acknowledged for its scientificity in literature coverage and authority of literature retrieval . In recent years, many studies have been published in China about radiation oncology. We aimed to investigate the literatures about radiation oncology in China covered by PubMed over the past five years.
METHODSWe collected primary data by searching the PubMed database using the related subject words. The collected data were analyzed and evaluated by bibliometric methods.
RESULTSIn the past five years, 550 articles by Chinese authors related to radiotherapy were indexed in PubMed. These articles were published in 160 journals among 26 Chinese provinces/cities. These articles mainly focused on radiation dose and computer-aided radiation therapy. Sixty-four articles were published by Chinese Journal of Cancer , which ranked the top. Forty-four articles were published by the International Journal of Radiation Oncology Biology Physics (IF=4.29), with the largest number among SCI journals. One hundred and sixteen articles from Guangdong Province were covered, accounting for 21.09%.
CONCLUSIONSOver the past five years, the discipline of radiation oncology has been greatly developed. The literatures mainly focus on clinical radiation oncology and their regional distribution is uneven.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the apoptosis induced by manumycin in U937 and HL-60 cell lines, and to explore the role of mitochondria apoptotic pathway in manumycin-inducing apoptosis.
METHODSLeukemic cells line U937 and HL-60 were treated by manumycin at 2 micromol/L for different time. Apoptosis of leukemia cells was detected by flow cytometry. The cytosolic proteins were extracted using a digitonin buffer. The protein expression of cytochrome C, caspase-9, caspase-8, and caspase-3 were determined by western blot. Mitochondrial membrane potential was detected by JC-1.
RESULTSIn U937 and HL-60 cells, manumycin induced mitochondrial depolarization after 6 h treatment. The average red/green fluorescence ratios at 6 h were significantly (P < 0.01) lower than those at time 0, being 0.51 +/- 0.07 and 0.41 +/- 0.06 for control group respectively. Manumycin induced cytochrome C release from the mitochondria into the cytosol after 6 h treatment, and activated caspase-9, caspase-8, and caspase-3 after a 16h treatment. The broad-spectrum caspase-inhibitor Z-VAD-fmk at 50 micromol/L was able to inhibit caspase cleavage completely, but only reduced the manumycin-induced apoptosis rates by 51.69% and 56.47% in U937 and HL-60, respectively.
CONCLUSIONManumycin induced apoptosis in U937 and HL-60 cell lines via mitochondria apoptotic pathway.

ObjectiveTo understand the characteristics of PM2.5 pollution in the air of Pearl River Delta city in Guangdong Province under the COVID-19 epidemic and the health risks of inhaling elements in PM2.5. MethodsIn 2022, 10 PM2.5 monitoring points were set up in 10 districts in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Foshan and Zhuhai, and air samples were collected for 7 consecutive days every month to analyze the concentration of PM2.5 and the 12 elements in PM2.5. The classic "four-step" method was used to evaluate the carcinogenic risk and chronic non-carcinogenic risk of the elements in air PM2.5 on health. The age-sensitive characteristics of metal elements were combined in the carcinogenic risk assessment, and age-sensitive factors were introduced to analyze the impact of air pollution on population health. ResultsA total of818 samples were collected. and the average annual PM2.5 concentration in the four cities of the Pearl River Delta was 30.17 (1.00-166.00, s=21.06) μg·m-3, which was lower than the concentration limit of the secondary standard of the Ambient Air Quality Standard (GB 3095-2012). The difference of PM2.5 concentration in the four cities was statistically significant. The PM2.5 concentrations in Zhuhai and Shenzhen, which were located near the sea, were lower than those in Guangzhou and Foshan. The monthly mean concentration of PM2.5 in the four cities was the lowest at 13.70 (4.00-34.00, s=5.93) μg·m-3 in July and the highest at 57.73 (14.00-146.00, s=27.96) μg·m-3 in January, showing a low concentration from May to October and a high concentration from November to April of the following year. The average daily PM2.5 concentration exceeded the secondary standard for 29 days, mainly distributed in January and November. The average annual mass concentration of elements in PM2.5 in the four cities was Al>Mn>Pb>As>Ni>Cr>Se>Sb>Cd>Tl>Be>Hg. AS and Mn have chronic non-carcinogenic risk in population, while Cr, AS, Cd, Be and Ni have carcinogenic risk in population. ConclusionThe PM2.5 pollution levels of the four cities in the Pearl River Delta are low and variable. Coastal cities are lower than non-coastal cities, which shows the characteristics of first decreasing and then increasing throughout the year. The order of mass concentration of metal elements of PM2.5 in four cities is basically the same except Be and Ni. As and Mn in PM2.5 show a certain degree of chronic non-carcinogenic risk, and As, Cr, Cd, Ni and Be have a certain degree of carcinogenic risk. The four cities need to take effective intervention measures to continue to strengthen the pollution control and health protection of Cr, As, Cd and Mn in the air, and control the health burden caused by air pollution.

Journal of Experimental Hematology 2016;24(6):1863-1868
OBJECTIVETo investigate the in vitro effects of different culture systems on hematopoietic differentiation ability of induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells.
METHODTwo culture systems including E8 and mTESR(freeder-free medium), and the classical ES culture medium were chosen for culture of iPS cells. The iPS cells maintaining in above mentioning culcure systems were co-cultured with OP9 cells(murine bone marrow stromal cells) in vitro to be induced to differentiate into hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells. Flow cytometry and real-time quantitative PCR were used to detect the expression of specific hematopoietic markers and the effects of different culture systems on the differentiation of iPS in vitro.
RESULTiPS cultured in the 3 selected medium could be differentiated into hematopoietic stem cells. Efficiency of hematopoietic differentiation was up to 28.4% in classical ES culture system, which was significantly higher than that in E8 and mTESR system.
CONCLUSIONUnder the co-culture with OP9, iPS can differentiate into hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells, which shows higher efficiency when iPS maintained in the ES medium.
