This paper mainly introduces the development of blood pump.Firstly,the latest research on blood pump is explained and the advantages and disadvantages of different kinds of blood pumps are compared.Then,the flow visualization,design and calculation of blood pump are introduced.At last,the questions during the blood pump development such as hemolysis and thrombus,are analyzed.It is suggested that a good blood pump should be miniature,implantable,portable and long-lasting.

Objective: To observe the changes of serum adiponectin level in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD),and to study the correlation between the serum level of adiponectin and NAFLD. Methods: A total of 110 patients with NAFLD who were hospitalized from Feb. 2006 to Mar. 2008 were included in this study. The patients were divided into non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) group (n=52,group 1) and simple fatty liver group (n=58,group 2). Fifty-four healthy volunteers were taken as normal control (group 3). The height, weight, and body mass index (BMI) were measured in all groups. The fasting blood samples were obtained to examine serum adiponectin, TC, TG, HDL-C and LDL-C. Stepwise regression method was used to analyze relationship between the serum level of adiponectin and NAFLD. Results: The serum adiponectin and HDL-C levels in group 1 and group 2 were significantly lower than those in group 3 (P<0.01); the levels of TC,TG,and LDL-C were significantly higher than those of group 3 (P < 0.01). The serum adiponectin in group 2 was significantly lower than that in group 1 (P<0.05). Lower serum adiponectin and HDL-C levels (P<0.05) and higher AST level (P<0.01) were found in group 2 than those in simple fatty liver patients. In non-alcoholic steatohepatitis patients,serum adiponectin level was negatively correlated with the levels of TC, TG (r = - 0.436, P < 0.05; r = - 0.567, P < 0.01, respectively) and positively correlated with the level of HDL-C (r=0.524,P<0.01). Conclusion: The serum adiponectin level is correlated with the severity of NAFLD patients, and examination of serum adiponectin may be helpful in understanding the status of NAFLD patients.

OBJECTIVETo explore the therapeutic effect of diagnosis and treatment program of integrative medicine (IM) on level 2 hypertension in the young and middle-aged patients and their ambulatory blood pressure.

METHODSA randomized, placebo parallel and controlled, multi-center clinical trial was performed. Totally 199 young and middle-aged level 2 hypertension patients were randomly assigned to the treatment group (99 cases) and the control group (100 cases). All received combined hypotensive treatment program by taking Nifedipine Sustained Release Tablet and Hydrochlorothiazide as basic drugs. Patients in the treatment group additionally took Western medicine (WM) combined Jiangyabao serial drugs (0.31 g per tablet, 2 tablets each time, twice daily), while those in the control group additionally took WM combined simulative agents of Jiangyabao serial drugs (0.31 g per tablet, 2 tablets each time, twice daily). The treatment course was 8 weeks for all, and 24-week follow-ups performed. 24 h ambulatory blood pressure and casual blood pressure, and their efficacies were compared between the two groups, and safety assessed as well.

RESULTSCompared with before treatment in the same group, daytime and night casual blood pressure, as well as 24 h ambulatory blood pressure were all obviously improved in the two groups (P < 0.01). Average diastolic and systolic blood pressures at night decreased more in the treatment group than in the control group with statistical difference (P < 0.05). There was no statistical difference in total efficacies of daytime casual blood pressure or ambulatory blood pressure (P > 0.05).

CONCLUSIONJiangyabao serial drugs combined WM in treating young and middle-aged level 2 hypertension patients showed obvious effect in improving night blood pressure, especially for night diastolic blood pressure.

The experiment was conducted to examine the effect of copper toxicity on the peripheral blood T-lymphocyte using the flow cytometry(FCM) and ANAE.180 one-day-old Avian broilers were divided randomly into three groups,and fed diets as follows:(1)Controls(Cu 11.97 mg/kg diet) and (2)copper toxic(Cu 650 mg/kg diet,copper toxic group Ⅰ;Cu 850 mg/kg diet,copper toxic group Ⅱ) for six weeks.The ANAE positive ratios of the peripheral blood T-lymphocytes were much lower in the two copper toxic groups than in control group from 1 to 6 weeks of age(P＜0.05 or P＜0.01).Also,there was significant difference between copper toxic groups Ⅰ and Ⅱ at 1,3,5 and 6 weeks of age(P＜0.05 or P＜0.01).CD+4 T cell numbers reduced from 2 to 6 weeks of age in both copper toxic group Ⅰ and copper toxic group Ⅱ as compared with those of control group(P＜0.05 or P＜0.01).At the same time,there was significant difference between copper toxic groups Ⅰ and Ⅱ at 6 weeks of age(P＜0.05).But the numbers of CD+8 T cell were not varied from 2 to 6 weeks of age in copper toxic groups Ⅰ and Ⅱ in comparison with those of control group(P＞0.05).The CD+4/CD+8 ratio was lower from 2 to 6 weeks of age in copper toxic groups Ⅰ and Ⅱ than in control group.The results showed that copper toxicity could suppress the development of T-lymphocytes and reduce the peripheral blood T-lymphocyte populations.Potential mechanisms underlying these observations are also discussed.

BACKGROUND: Embryonic pancreatic tissue is characterized by its abundance, potent in proliferation & differentiation, and minimal immunological rejection. It is widely considered as potential pancreatic endocrinological stem cells resource for treating diabetes mellitus.OBJECTIVE: To investigate the embryonic mouse pancreatic tissue isolation technique and observe the recipients' blood glucose regulatory effects of the grafted embryonic pancreas in an experimental diabetes mellitus mouse model.METHODS: Pancreatic tissue from C57B1/6 mouse embryos at embryonic days 11.5-16.5 was isolated under the stereomicroscope. C57BL/6 mouse models of streptozocin-induced diabetes mellitus were established and then randomly divided into two groups: transplantation group, in which, five pieces of pancreatic tissue of mice at embryonic 16.5 days were transplanted into mouse renal capsule, and sham-operated control group, in which, 0.05 mL RPMI1640 culture medium was injected into mouse renal capsule. When blood glucose level of the transplantation group mouse was≤ 11.2 mmol/L, the endocrine function of embryonic pancreatic tissue transplanted was detected by IPGTT and IPITT methods and then the transplanted graft was removed for observing the blood glucose relapse.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Nearly intact pancreatic tissue of mice at embryonic days 11.5-16.5 could be isolated through the use of stereomicroscope. Pancreatic tissue morphology and color of mice ≤ embryonic 12.5 days were difficultly distinguished from adjacent tissue and they could only be isolated carefully according to the relationship with adjacent organs. Pancreatic tissue of mice > embryonic 12.5 days exhibited initial endocrinological tissue morphology mimic white cauliflower. Histological and ELISA examinations showed that embryonic pancreatic tissue could express and secrete insulin and the insulin level was gradually increased with developmental time. Embryonic pancreatic tissue could grow beneath the recipient renal capsule. The insulin and glucagon expression in the post-transplantational pancreatic tissue graft was increased compared with prior to transplantation. These results suggest that pancreatic tissue is a potential stem cell resource for treating the diabetes mellitus.

Antimicrobial peptides are a class of small peptides with anti-extrogenous pathogen activities.They are derived from organism and possess antibacterial,antifungus,antiviruses and anticancer cell actions.In recent years,it’s found that some microbial pathogens are able to resist antimicrobial peptides.The constitutive and inducible mechanism of a pathogen resists a given peptide were reviewed in this paper.

Objective To evaluate the predisposition effects of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) ,angiotensinogen (AGT) and endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) gene polymorphisms on coronary disease (CHD) as well as their possible synergistic effect in the development of CHD in Chinese aged people. Methods The study included 191 subjects (100 CHD and 91 controls). Gene chip technology was performed. The allele frequency and genotype distribution were compared between groups. Results A significantly higher frequency of the DD genotype of ACE gene was observed in CHD group (28.0% vs 15. 4%, P0. 05). Objective To discuss the diagnosis and surgical treatment of multiple endocrine neoplasia 1 (MEN1). Methods The clinical data of MEN1 from 1974 to 2005 were retrospectively analyzed. Results There were 17 cases of MEN1 in our group. Among them, 11 cases were from 4 families. MEN1 gene mutation was detected in 14 cases admitted after 1997. There were 11 cases of pHPT, 6 cases of insulinoma, 8 cases of pituitary adenoma, 6 cases of adrenal adenoma, 2 cases of thymic carcinoid and 2 cases of collagenoma. Two patients had respectively 4 glands involved, 3 patients had 3, 7 patients had 2 kinds of gland involved respectively. Four patients had only one kind of gland involved. A 12 year old girl had no clinical symptom and biochemical change. Six patients presented with nephrolithasis, 6 patients had impaired pancreatic endocrine function. Subtotal parathyroidectomy was performed in 4 patients of pHPT, and one patient received parathyroid adenoma enucleation. Insulinomas were enucleated in 4 patients. Two patients underwent thymus tumor extirpation. Conclusions MEN1 varies in symptoms, even those from the same family. Cermline mutation test helps establish diagnosis. Operations should be aiming at tumor resection as well as the improvement of life quality.
