Shanghai Journal of Acupuncture and Moxibustion 2015;(2):95-98
Objective To observe the efficacy of acupuncture at Hegu (LI4) in treating central facial palsy due to cerebral ischemia, and to explore the dose-effect correlation and the optimal acupuncture protocol.Method Totally 150 patients with central facial palsy due to ischemic stroke were randomized into four groups to receive acupuncture at Hegu with different stimulation parameters plus the conventional integrated Chinese and Western medicine (group A, B, C, D) according to the acupuncture time and direction, and a control group (group E) only to receive the conventional Chinese and Western medicine treatment. The treatment lasted 14 d. The House-Brackmann facial nerve grading system, Toronto Facial Grading System and facial palsy grading scale were adopted as the evaluation indexes.Result After intervention, the scores of the three indexes were all significantly increased in the five groups (P<0.05), and the inter-group comparisons showed significant differences in comparing the improvement rate (P<0.05).Conclusion The study shows that acupuncture at Hegu is effective in treating central facial palsy due to cerebral ischemia, and with the inverse insertion of the needle and manipulation for 5 min at Hegu should be the optimal protocol regarding the improvement of the symptom score and effective rate.
3.Fauna of scrub typhus vector chigger mites in Yunnan Province
China Tropical Medicine 2023;23(5):550-
Abstract: Chigger mites belong to the phylum Arthropoda, class Arachnida, sub-class Acari, order Parasitiformes, family Trombiculidae and Leeuwenhoekiidae, with a wide range of species. There are more than 3 700 known species of mites globally, of which 531 species in 46 genera from three sub-families have been recorded in China, and 320 species of chigger mites recorded from 3 subfamilies and 32 genera in Yunnan Province. At this stage, chigger mites are the only vectors of scrub typhus, with about 60 species worldwide being potential vectors. Six vectorial mite species have been confirmed in China, including Leptotrombidium deliense, L.scutellare, L.rubellum, L.sialkotense, L.kaohuense, L.insulare. Yunnan Province has reported five vectorial mite species, including the previously-mentioned five species except for L.sialkotense. The zoogeographic study divided Yunnan Province into 5 zoogeographic areas, namely, Central Hengduan Mountains subregion, Southern Hengduan Mountains subregion, Eastern Yunnan Plateau subregion, Western Yunnan Plateau subregion, Southern Yunnan Mountainous subregion. The Southern Hengduan Mountains subregion has the highest number of known genera and species of scrub typhus and the highest number of scrub typhus cases, with 216 species in 22 genera from 3 subfamilies, and all 5 species of vector scrub typhus were distributed. Southern Yunnan Mountain subregion has the least number of mite species, with 91 species in 12 genera from three sub-families, with L. scutellare being the dominant vectorial mite species across the province. Due to suitable natural geographic conditions in Yunnan Province, vectorial mites can propagate rapidly, leading to a large number of scrub typhus cases. According to statistics, the number of scrub typhus cases in Yunnan Province has rapidly increased, with 15.40 times, 20.64 times and 28.91 times more cases in 2016, 2017 and 2018 respectively than in 2006. Scrub typhus remains a serious public health problem in Yunnan Province, posing a threat to the health of the local population. Therefore, prevention and control efforts should continue to focus on the affected areas and the general public.

5.RISK FACTORS OF IMPAIRED CARDIAC DIASTOLIC FUNCTION IN PATIENTS WITH ABNORMALITIES OF GLUCOSE METABOLISM
Medical Journal of Chinese People's Liberation Army 2001;0(07):-
To investigate the clinical risk factors of cardiac diastolic dysfunction in type 2 DM, Doppler echocardiographic examinations were performed on 63 male patients. With a routine 2 dimensional echocardiograph, mitral and pulmonary venous flow velocity were recorded. The patients were classified into DM, IGT and NGT based on well standardized criteria of WHO. All analyses were performed by the SPSS/PC or Windows Release 9.0 Statistical Package. The risk factors of impairment of diastolic function were analyzed by regression. Results showed that the levels of blood glucose and insulin were independent risk factors for diabetic cardiac diastolic dysfunction.

Chinese Herbal Medicines 2014;5(2):104-108
Objective: To compare the chemical constituents in the essential oils from the leaves, flowers, and seeds of Elsholtzia ciliata and their antimicrobial activities. Methods: The chemical constituents in essential oils were extracted by the hydro-distillation method and analyzed by GC-MS. The chemical constituents in essential oils were identified on the basis of comparison on their retention indices and MS spectrum with published data. Moreover, the antimicrobial activities of the chemical constituents in the oils against the growth of six bacteria strains and one pathogenic yeast strain were evaluated by using minimum inhibitory concentration and minimum bactericidal concentration methods. Results: A total of 58 compounds were identified, while compounds 31, 35, and 36 were identified in the essential oils from the leaves, flowers, and seeds, respectively. Fifteen compounds were identified as shared constituents in the leaves, flowers, and seeds. The chemical constituents in the essential oils showed the inhibitory activities against the six bacteria strains and the yeast strain. Conclusion: The major constituents are different in the essential oils of the leaves, flowers, and seeds. The major chemical constituents in the essential oils are monoterpenoids and sesquiterpenoids. And the chemical constituents in the essential oils obtained from the leaves show higher inhibitory activities especially against Bacillus subtillis CMCC63501 and Escherichia coli ATCC25922. © 2013 Tianjin Press of Chinese Herbal Medicines.

Medical Journal of Chinese People's Liberation Army 2001;0(12):-
Objective To explore the influence of lung IL-10 on interstitial dendritic cells in multiple organ dysfunction syndrome(MODS),and its role in immunological dysfunction. Methods The model of MODS was replicated by injecting zymosan into the peritoneal cavity of C57BL/6 mice. The mice were then randomly divided into normal groups as well as the groups of 3-6 hours,12-48 hours,5-7 days and 10-12 days post trauma. The level of CCR7 mRNA in lung was detected by RT-PCR and the proteins of CCR7 and IL-10 were immunohistochemically stained. The number of mononuclear cells in MHC-II positive peripheral blood was determined by flow cytometry. Results At the early stage of injury(3-6 hours),the number of IL-10 positive cells and the expression of CCR7 increased, but the number of mononuclear cells in MHC-II positive peripheral blood decreased. At the stage of 12-48 hours, the number of IL-10 positive cells and the expression of CCR7 continued to increase obviously, and that of mononuclear cells in MHC-II positive peripheral blood went on decreasing. At the stage of 10-12 days, the number of IL-10 positive cells increased dramatically compared with that in normal group, but the expression of CCR7 declined obviously in contrast to that in 12-48 hours, and the number of mononuclear cells in MHC-II positive peripheral blood decreased to the lowest level. Conclusions The expression of IL-10 in lung could inhibit the excessive immunological damage induced by dendritic cells on the one hand, and it probably leads to immunosuppression by reducing the CCR7 expression of dendritic cells and the number of mononuclear cells in MHC-II positive peripheral blood on the other hand.
