ATM: To investigate the relationship between the oculus dominans and the eye with higher diopter among myopes, and to study the difference between the Worth 4 dot test and hole-in-the-card test.
METHODS: Totally 125 cases were divided into two groups as physiogenic anisometropic group and pathological anisomitropic group according to the degree of binoculus anisometropy. Worth 4 dot test and hole-in-the-card test were used to distinguish oculus dominans respectively based on medical optometry.
RESULTS: In physiogenic anisometropic group, the oculus dominans and the eye with higher diopter among myopes had significant relationship by hole-in-the-card test (Z = -4. 057, P<0. 01) and Worth 4 dot test (Z=-3. 558, P<0. 01). However, in pathological group, No statistical significance was between two tests (P>0. 05); distinguish the oculus dominans had no statistically significant difference between the Worth 4 dot test and hole-in-the-card test (n=125, P>0. 05).
CONCLUSION:The oculus dominans is determined by gene or formed during juvenile period, then myopia anisometropic may affect the choice of that. The Worth 4 dot test has some reference significance for observing oculus dominans.

Objective To study the therapeutic effects of intermittent hypoxia therapy(IHT)in isolated systolic hypertension(ISH)patients with elevated cerebral blood flow velocity(Vp),and to explore the mechanisms involved.Methods Seventy-six ISH patients with increasing Vp and normal pulsatility index(PI)of the middle ce- rebral artery(MCA)were randomly divided into a therapy group and a control group.IHT was administrated in the therapy group,and air in the control group.The Vp and PI of the MCA and blood pressure(BP)were observed be- fore and after treatment.Results Vp and systolic blood pressure(SBP)were significantly reduced after IHT(P＜0.01)compared with the therapy group's scores betore treatment,but PI and diastolic blood pressure showed no sig- nificant difference.There was no significant change in BP,Vp or PI in the control group before or after treatment. Conclusion IHT has therapeutic effects on ISH by reducing Vp and moderating SBP.

Tumor metastasis is a primary cause of leading to death of tumor patients,and difficult to control.The relationship between primary tumor(PT)and metastasis tumor(MT)is extremely complicated. Considerable animal experiments and clinical data confirm that treatment of PT encourages the growth of MT, but the mechanism is not still fully clear.Some studies show that the density depression of antiangiogenesis factor and immune escape of tumor cell are main reasons for MT accelerated growth.This article reviews the animal experiment,clinical observation and occurrence mechanism of primary tumor treatment promoting tu- mor metastasis.

Objective: To investigate the relationship between academic achievements of high school students and the results of California Psychological Inventory (CPI) of them. Method: Seventy-one higher school students were tested by CPI-RC (revised Chinese version). Their academic achievements were recorded. Results: Nine of the 23 CPI traits, such as Re (responsibility), So (socialize), Wb (comfortable), Ac (achievement), Py (psychologized), Cm (communality), To (tolerance), Sc (self-control), V3 (self accomplishment) had significant correlation with academic achievements (r=0.24～0.33, p＜0.05). Students with different prefer (literal arts or science) showed different CPI traits. Students with better academic achievements had higher scores on So, Sc, Wb, To and V3. Conclusion: CPI traits have some relationship to academic achievements of high school students and to their academic preference.

Objective To observe the role of the mild changes in hepatic nuclear factor (HNF)-1? gene in the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods With PCR, denatured gradient gel electrophoresis and DNA sequencing,the genomic DNAs from the blood of type 2 diabetic patients and normal control were analyzed to find the changes in HNF-1? gene. These changes were added up in-groups and compared with plasma insulin concentration. Results Code 459 CTG changed to TTC,codes 489 AGC changed to AAC in the 7th exon;no 7G changed to A in the 7th intron. The 3 point changes were of one kind of polymorphism. Its frequency to normal genotype was 61: 39 in normal control, 56: 44 in type 2 diabetes mellitus. Objective To evaluate the effect of heat treatment on ultraviolet B (UVB)-induced oxidative injury to human melanocytes.Methods Melanocytes were isolated from adult foreskins,and subjected to a primary culture.After 3-4 passages of subculture,the melanocytes were classified into 4 groups:control group incubated at 37 ℃,heat treatment group incubated at 42 ℃ for 1 hour,UVB group exposed to UVB irradiation at 100 mJ/cm2,combination group receiving heat treatment at 42 ℃ for 1 hour followed by UVB irradiation at 100 mJ/cm2.After three successive days of treatment,MTT assay was performed to evaluate cell viability,a biochemical method to determine the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and concentration of malonaldehyde (MDA),and flow cytometry to detect intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) and apoptosis in melanocytes.Results The cell survival rate,apoptosis rate,SOD activity,MDA concentration and ROS level were (100 ± 6.14)％,(4.66 ± 0.58)％,(53.39 ± 8.23) U/gprot,(1.09 ± 0.32) mmol/gprot,and 1070.85 ± 42.07 in the control group respectively.UVB exposure induced a significant increase in apoptosis rate (24.14％ ± 2.90％,P ＜ 0.001),MDA concentration (1.65 ± 0.33 mmol/gprot,P ＜ 0.01) and ROS level (1416.45 ± 79.12,P＜ 0.01),but a significant decrease in cell survival rate (50.23％ ± 5.36％,P＜ 0.01)and SOD activity (31.98 ± 1 1.89 U/gprot,P ＜ 0.01) in the UVB group compared with the control group,while the heat pretreatment markedly downregulated the UVB-induced increase in apoptosis rate (14.9％ ± 1.49％,P ＜ 0.001),MDA concentration (1.10 ± 0.26 mmol/gprot) and ROS level (1033.30 ± 68.41,P＜ 0.01),as well as the decrease in cell survival rate (74.12％ ± 6.17％,P＜ 0.01) and SOD activity (51.63 ± 6.55 U/gprot,P＜ 0.01) in the combination group.Conclusion Heat treatment could protect melanocytes from UVB-induced oxidative injury.
