4.Translational medical science:the medical science beneficial to patients
Basic & Clinical Medicine 2006;0(08):-
With the rapid development of life sciences, translational medical sciences have a new significance recent years. Translational medical science aims to eliminate the barriers between clinical, pharmaceutical drug breakthroughs and basic research, to shorten the distance from bench to bed side, and to facilitate rapid patient benefits from medical sciences. Translational medical science concurrently agrees with modern 21st century research trends, as well as emphasizing upon Chinese goals of health and sanitation (hygiene science), preventing and treating disease to preserve and improve health standards and quality of life. Following a long-term self study model of integrating basic with clinic research since 1921, Peking Union Medical College Hospital in collaboration with a variety of basic medical science institutions recently and initiated a pilot project of translational medical science in China.
5.Serum Vitamin A is decreased in rheumatological diseases
Chinese Journal of Immunology 2017;33(7):1068-1071
Objective:To investigate the serum Vitamin A(sVit A) levels in Behcet′s disease(BD)and other rheumatological diseases. Methods: sVit A concentration was measured in BD(including 3 subtypes of eye BD,intestinal BD,and vascular BD),rheumatoid arthritis(RA),systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE),ankylosing spondylitis(AS),primary Sjogren′s syndrome(pSS) and adult onset Still disease(AOSD)and compared with healthy controls(HC).Results: The patients enrolled in this study was according with the epidemiological features;BD patients including its subtypes of eye BD,intestinal BD,and vascular BD patients all had a lower concentration of sVit A than HC(P<0.05),no statistical differences between the subtypes;RA,SLE,AS,pSS and AOSD had a lower concentration of sVit A than HC(P<0.05).Conclusion: Decreased serum Vit A levels might account for a common pathogenesis of various rheumatic diseases.
6.The study of the cerebrovascular reserve in patients with diabetes or the combined diabetes and cerebral infarction
Chinese Journal of Diabetes 2009;17(12):918-920
Objective To assess the association of cerebrovascular reserve(CVR) with diabetes(DM)、hypertensive atherosclerotic lacunar infarction(HALI),hypertension(HT) and diabetic lacunar infarction(DLI) by means of transcranial Doppler ultrasonography (TCD) with breath-holding maneuver. Methods The breath-holding index (BHI), which was the percentage increase in middle cerebral artery(MCA) blood flow velocity as index of CVR assessment, was detected during breath-holding by TCD and breath-holding technique in 30 diabetic patients,30 hypertensive atherosclerotic lacunar infarction patients,30 hypertension patients and 30 diabetic lacunar infarction patients. Results There was significant difference in the ascending rates of Vm and BHI between diabetic group and diabetic lacunar infarction group, diabete lacunar infarction group and hypertensive atherosclerotic lacunar infarction group, hypertension group and diabetic group (all P<0.05). Conclusions Diabetes can more significantly impair CVR than hypertension. Diabetic lacunar infarction can more significantly impair CVR than diabetes. Diabetic lacunar infarction can more significantly impair CVR than hypertensive atherosclerotic lacunar infarction .
7.Adverse Drug Reactions Induced by Antibiotics:Literature Analysis
China Pharmacy 2007;0(32):-
OBJECTIVE:To study the incidence, types, constitution ratio of adverse drug reactions(ADR)induced by antibiotics and the correlation factors of the ADR so as to promote rational drug use in our hospital.METHODS:The literature about antibiotics-induced ADR from Jan.1980 to May 2008 retrieved from CNKI,Wanfang Data and VIP full-text data base was analyzed quantitatively by dividing the literature into different categories:case study or typical case reports, clinical trial or observational reports, and regional ADR monitoring data base or hospital ADR analytical reports.RESULTS:There were 2 310 case studies or typical case reports and in which 3 794 ADR cases were reported, which manifested chiefly as allergic reaction(35.58%),nervous system reaction(17.82%)and disulfiram-like reaction(in 546 cases).928 papers were literature about clinical trial or observational reports and in which 9 434 ADR cases were reported and the average ADR incidence was 9.14%,with anti-tuberculosis drugs showing the highest proportion(25.57%),followed by nitromidazole(24.29%)and carbapenem antibiotics(23.52%);and the ADR manifested chiefly as gastrointestinal tract reaction and allergic reaction, and there were ADR cases manifested as pathoglycemia induced by quinolones. There were 300 papers were literature about regional ADR monitoring data base or hospital ADR analytical reports,in which almost all the major variety of antibiotics were involved, leading the list in terms of ADR cases were quinolones, penicillins and cephalosporins.CONCLUSION:Great importance should be attached to the rational use of antibiotics so as to avoid or reduce ADR incidence and ensure safe and effective use of antibiotics in patients.
