OBJECTIVE To investigate the hearing level of deafmute children in three deafmute schools in Nanning,Liuzhou and Guilin cities and reveal the importance of early diagnosis and intervention.METHODS The pure tone hearing thresholds of 0.5,1,2,4 kHz of 357 deafmute children in three deafmute schools were recorded. The disability grade was evaluated according to the average threshold of 4 frequencies.RESULTS A total of 410 students were in the three deafmute schools. There were 248 male and 162 female with an age ranged from 2 to 27 years(14.5 years). The number of hearing disability grade fromⅠtoⅣwere 232(65 %),64(18.0 %),48(13.5 %)and 10(2.6 %)respectively, and 3 children(0.9 %)could not graded the hearing disability.Sixty one children (17.0 %)with light or moderate hearing loss missed their optimal opportunity of hearing and speech rehabilitation.CONCLUSION The results reveal the importance of early diagnosis and intervention of hearing loss.
2.Tumor microenvironment: A novel target for antitumor activity of polysaccharides
Journal of China Pharmaceutical University 2010;41(1):1-10
Tumor microenvironment plays a crucial role in neoplastic evolution process as it may provide functional interactions between neoplastic and non-neoplastic cells involved in tumor invasion, metastasis and angiogenesis, which implies that it can be regarded as a novel target for the antitumor therapy of polysaccharides. This review focuses on the protumor variations existing in tumor microenvironment, such as growth factors, immunosuppressive factors, proteases, glycoproteins, etc.,which may offer possible mechanisms of polysaccharides on the regulation of their corresponding functions.
3.Electromyographic features of agonists and antagonist muscles of the knee joints during maximal and submaximal isokinetic fatigue
Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2015;(33):5344-5350
BACKGROUND:The power output of the human joints depends on the activation of agonists and antagonist muscles around the joints, and the antagonist muscle is involved in physical activity in a co-activated manner, thereby helping to maintain joint stability. But there are less reports on the central nervous system strategies of antagonist co-activation under different muscle contraction modes. OBJECTIVE:To observe the characteristics and differences of surface electromyography (sEMG) of agonists and antagonist muscles of the knee joints during maximal and submaximal isokinetic exercises until fatigue. METHODS:Sixteen students were enroled, who developed the right knee joint fatigue induced by the Biodex isokinetic equipment, and simultaneously sEMG activities of vastus medialis, vastus lateralis and biceps femoris were recorded by the myoelectrical equipment. The RMS (%) and mean frequency were selected to analyze sEMG characteristics. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:In the maximal isokinetic fatigue, the peak torque was decreased by 40.3% (P < 0.05) and the sEMG activity of agonists gradualy increased and then declined, but the sEMG activity of antagonists kept constant. In the submaximal isokinetic fatigue, the peak torque was decreased by 40.0% (P < 0.05), the sEMG activity of agonists gradualy increased (P < 0.05), and however the sEMG activity of the antagonists initialy increased and then decreased. The RMS and mean frequency of vastus medialis and lateralis as antagonists at selected reciprocal contractions showed no significant changes (P > 0.05). These results suggest that in the different intensities of isokinetic fatigue, the central nervous system employs different neural strategies on agonists and antagonists.

5.The effects of visual feedback in retraining upper limb motion after stroke
Chinese Journal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation 2014;36(4):278-280
Objective To explore the effectiveness of visual feedback in retraining upper limb function after stroke. Methods Sixty-one hemiplegic stroke patients were randomly assigned to a treatment group (31 cases)which received motion training using visual feedback in addition to routine neurodevelopment treatment and a motor relearning program, and a control group (30 cases) which received only the neurodevelopment treatment and a motor relearning program. The Fugl-Meyer assessment (FMA) and the modified Ashworth scale (MAS) were used for as-sessment before treatment and after 4 weeks of treatment. Results After 4 weeks of treatment, the FMA and MAS scores of both groups had improved significantly,as had the strength of the forearm flexors. The improvements were significantly greater in the treatment group than in the control group. Conclusion Motion training with visual feed-back can alleviate upper limb spasticity after stroke significantly better than routine rehabilitation alone.
6.Research progress on the role of transcription factor Nrf 2 in diabetic nephropathy
Chinese Journal of Diabetes 2015;(2):182-184
Oxidative stress and inflammation are two main factors in the progress of diabetic nephropathy(DN) and its complications. NF‐E2 p45‐related factor (Nrf2) is a crucial transcriptional factor which manipulates downstream genes that encode some antioxidant enzymes and phase Ⅱ detoxifying enzymes ,to maintain the redox homeostasis and cellular detoxification response. Therefore ,more and more researchers are focusing on the role of Nrf2 in DN. In this review ,the detailed role of Nrf2 in DN will be discussed. Hopefully ,our work can epitomize recent research progress and provide novel clues for diabetic nephropathy prevention and treatment.
