Academic Journal of Second Military Medical University 2010;28(3):310-313
Objective: To investigate the morphological changes of cerebral blood vessels by digital subtraction angiography (DSA) in patients with central vertigo, so as to provide references for diagnosis and treatment of patients with central vertigo. Methods: Ninety-two patients suffering from central vertigo were subjected to cerebral angiography through femoral artery. The types, proportion, and distribution (site predilection and number of involved vessels) of the cerebrovascular abnormalities were observed and analyzed. Results: Of the 92 patients with central vertigo, cerebrovascular lesions were found in 137 sides, including 15 (10. 95%) anterior circulation lesions and 122 (89.05%) posterior circulation lesions. Thirty-one (33.7%) patients had 2 or more lesions. The most common lesion was vertibroarterial lesion accompanied with other cerebrovascular stenosis. The lesions included 39 (28.47%) sides with vertibro-basilar stenosis or occlusion, 13 (9.49%) sides with posterior cerebral artery stenosis or occlusion, and 59 (43.06%) sides with posterior circulation abnormalities. Conclusion: The posterior circulation stenoses or abnormalities might be the major reasons for central vertigo in middle- and old-age patients.

OBJECTIVETo observe thee efficacy of different ways of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for treating elderly coronary heart disease (CHD) patients.
METHODSTotally 470 elderly CHD patients were classified to three age brackets (equal to or more than 85 years old, 60 to 74 years old, 75 to 84 years old). They were assigned to the transradial intervention (TRI) group (236 cases) and the transfemoral intervention (TFI) group (234 cases) according to different intervention pathways. Correlated indices and postoperative clinical efficacy were compared between the two groups.
RESULTSA higher successful rate of surgery was obviously got in patients 85 years old or older than 85 than in those 60 to 74 years old and 75 to 84 years old (P <0. 05). The incidence of major cardiovascular events (MACE) was reduced at post-operative 12 and 24 months in patients 85 years old or older than 85 (P <0. 05). The case number for changing intervention pathway were increased in the TRI group with statistical difference (P <0. 05). Compared with the TFI group, the case number for changing intervention pathway was increased; the time for arteriopuncture, the time for catheterization, and the time for X-ray exposure were prolonged; the time for postoperative bedding were obviously shortened; the incidence of vascular complications at the puncture site were lowered. The incidence of postoperative 12-month MACE was lowered, all with statistical difference (all P <0. 05). The incidence of MACE within postoperative 24-month MACE decreased in patients 60 to 74 years old and 75 to 84 years old (P <0. 05). The incidence of MACE within postoperative 24 months increased in patients 85 years old or older than 85 of the TRI group with statistical difference (P <0. 05).
CONCLUSIONTRI can be preferably chosen for PC in treating elderly CHD patients.

6.Effect of electrical stimulus at a low physiological frequency on expression of myosin heavy chain in genioglossus of rabbits with chronic hypoxia
Journal of Third Military Medical University 2003;0(13):-
Objective To study the effect of chronic electrical stimulus at a low physiological frequency on the expression of myosin heavy chain (MHC) in genioglossus of rabbits with chronic hypoxia. Methods Twenty-four adult rabbits, weighing 2.3?0.1kg,were randomized into control group (A),chronic hypoxia group (B),10 Hz electrical stimulus group (C),and 10+40 Hz electrical stimulus group (D).Rabbits in groups C and D received electrical stimulus of genioglossus at a frequency of 10 Hz and 10+40 Hz,respectively, while those in group B received no electrical stimulus, after they were placed in a hypobaric hypoxia cabin,8 h a day for 5 weeks, with free access to food and water.Expression of MHC in genioglossus of rabbits in the 4 groups was detected by SDS-PAGE and semi-quantitative inverse transcription RT-PCR,respectively.Results The expression level of MHCⅠand MHCⅠmRNA was significantly lower while that of MHCⅡa was significantly higher in group B than in group A [(0.69?0.07)% vs (17.48?4.00)%,(0.69?0.07)% vs (1.05?0.06)%,and (79.89?5.09)% vs (73.33?4.17)%,P
7.Survey and analysis of nutrient support drug utilization in cancer patients
Chinese Journal of Hospital Administration 1996;0(09):-
Objective To find out nutrient support drug utilization in cancer patients in our hospital. Methods An analysis was made by means of drug utilization research into the structure and rationality of nutrient support drug utilization in our hospital through an investigation into the detailed records of the dispensary from 1999 to 2002 and into 1 014 medical records from 2002. Results The variety, quantity, and cost of nutrient support drug utilization in the four years rose respectively by 58.82%, 71.66% and 28.16%. 49.30% of the cancer patients whose medical records were surveyed used such drugs. The quantity and person time ratio of PN and EN drug utilization was respectively 14∶1 and 13∶1, with malnourished patients accounting for 19.80%. Of the PN drugs whose DDD value could be determined, most had a DUI value that was greater than 1 whereas most of the EN drugs had a DUI value which was smaller than 1. Conclusion The variety, quantity, and cost of nutrient support drug utilization in the four years rose rapidly. The quantity and person time of PN drug utilization were much higher than those of EN drug utilization. Doubts could be cast in the handling of indications for nutrient support drug utilization in some patients and the doses of some nutrient support drugs prescribed were not so rational. Further explorations need to be made into the rational application of nutrient support treatment.
