1.IMAGE ANALYSIS OF ARCHITECTURES OF AXON AND MYELIN SHEATH IN TEASED SINGLE NERVE FIBER DURING NERVE REGENERATION
Acta Anatomica Sinica 1955;0(03):-
The regenerating sciatic nerve of rat was teased into single nerve fibers at various intervals in 98 days after crushing. By image analysis, it was found that the values of architectural parameters of axon and myelin sheath, such as axonal diameter, myelin sheath thickess, their surface area and volume all increased apparently before 56 days, no any significant change was revealed between 56~98 days, and did not reach the level of each individual parent stump even upto 98 th day. In comparison of the architectural changes between axon and myelin sheath further, a parallel development in time course was demonstrated. The result not only indicated that a close relationship existed between axon and myelin sheath during regeneration, but also provided a further evidence that nerve regeneration was cooperated by the interation of both neuronal and nonneuronal regulators, which has been reported previously.
2.Symptoms and causes of insomnia in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis
Chinese Journal of Neurology 2021;54(5):519-522
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a rare neurodegenerative disease characterized by progressive loss of upper and lower motor neuron. Insomnia is one of the widespread but underappreciated non-motor symptoms in ALS patients, which may not only seriously affect patients′ quality of life, but also reflect the lesions of central nervous system in ALS. This review summarizes the insomnia symptoms reported in current ALS studies, and summarizes the somatic factors and central nervous system changes associated with insomnia in ALS patients, so as to provide ideas for the development of effective intervention measures and future research.

Objective To evaluate the application value of UF-1000i automated urine formed elements analyzer in the diagnosis of urinary tract infection. Methods 150 urine specimens were analyzed using the UF-1000i in parallel with detection of leukocyte, yeast-like fungus, and bacteria. These detection results were collected for evaluation of urinary tract infection and scatter grams were recorded. At the same time, these samples were cultured for bacterial identification, which results were compared with that of the UF-1000i. The clinical diagnose criteria of the UTI was performed as golden standard. As compare with results obtained with UF-1000i, the sensitivity and specificity of UF-1000i for diagnosis of urinary tract infection were evaluated, and the consistency were analyzed among scatter grams, bacterial culture and final diagnosis. Results The statistical results from 146 specimens showed that the positive rate of UF-1000i was 32. 9% (48/146), the positive rate of urine culture is 28. 8% (42/146). There was no significant statistical difference found (χ2 = 1.79 ,P = 0. 18 )and Kappa test showed a considerable consistency (K = 0. 775 6). The UF-1000i detection results showed the sensitivity 76. 0% ( 38/50 ), specificity 89. 6% ( 86/96 ), positive predictive value 79. 2% ( 38/48 ) and negative predictive value 87. 8% ( 86/98 ), respectively. The distribution of coccus and bacilli obtained from the UF-1000i testing was basically in accordance with the results of bacterial culture. Conclusion The "UTI-information" of UF-1000i is very important for the diagnosis of urinary tract infections.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the drug resistance and the prevalence of inducible clindamycin resistance in clinical isolates of Staphylococcus aureus and evaluate the clinical value of cefoxitin disk diffusion method and oxacillin disk diffusion for detection of meticillin-resistant S.aureus(MRSA).METHODS Bacteria identification and susceptibility test were performed by VITEK-2 system and K-B disk method. The PBP2a was detected by latex agglutination and MRSA was identified by cefoxitin disk diffusion method and oxacillin disk diffusion. The inducible resistance of erythromycin to clindamycin was checked by D-test according to the standards of CLSI(NCCLS).The statistical analysis was performed by WHONET 5.4 and SPSS 13.0 software.RESULTS Resistant rate to penicillin and ampicillin was 98.9% and 100.0%,respectively.Vancomycin-resistant(VRE) or intermediate strains were not found.Of the 93 S.aureus isolates,MRSA and meticillin-sensitive S.aureus(MSSA) were 58(62.4%) and 35(37.6%),respectively.The resistant rate of MRSA to 11 antibiotics was higher than MSSA.The sensitivity and specificity of cefoxitin disk diffusion method were 98.3% and 97.1%,respectively,those of oxacillin disk diffusion were 75.9% and 94.3%.Of the 9 isolates resitant to erythromycin but susceptible to clindamycin,5(55.6%) showed inducible resistance to clindamycin.CONCLUSIONS Resistance of S.aureus is quite serious.Cefoxitin disc diffusion method is a simple and reliable method for the detection of MRSA.The inducible resistance of erythromycin to clindamycin in S aureus should be checked by D-test in clinical microbiology laboratory routinely.

Chinese Journal of Pathophysiology 2009;25(12):2478-2482
Autophagy is a lysosome-dependent degradative pathway which is characterized by cytoplasmic vacuolization. However, it is not just a simple degradative pathway. Research shows that autophagy is related to many diseases, such as neurodegenerative disease, malignant tumor, ageing, pathogenic microorganism infection, myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury and so on. Autophagy exactly exists in myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury, and it becomes a new research hotspot. This review will focus on the occurrence and development of autophagy and its role, signal transduction and research status in myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury.

Objective To investigate the intervention ways of endoscopes in the treatment of esophagus stenosis due to carcinoma of esophagus and improvement of quality. Method 11 cases of advanced carcinoma of esophagus were included in this study. Operation and chemical therapy were unavailable for these patients. Memory trestle with membrane and made of alloy of Nickel- titanium was inserted under intervention of endoscope. Trestle was posed in stenosis part of esophagus under direction of X- ray. Trestle could be dilated 3- 7 days after operation due to its reaction characteristics to temperature. So, redilated therapy was unnecessary. Trestle could reconstruct swallowing tract and made feeding through mouth become available during limited survival time. Results All trestles were successfully inserted.Half- fluid feeding was available after operation. Obstruction was removed in all patients(100% ).Conclusion Method described in this study was safe and effective .Effective swallowing tracts were reconstructed in all patients after trestle was planted and quality of life and survival time were both improved.
