Acta Medicinae Universitatis Scientiae et Technologiae Huazhong 2017;46(2):220-223
Objective To investigate the effect of tissue adhesive glue in the repairment of eyelid lacerations and surgical incisions in children. Methods Retrospective comparison trial in paediatric ophthalmology department.Children who presented for laceration and surgical incision repair between November 2015 and October 2016 were evaluated.Patients from 11 months old to 12 years old with a total of 458 patients were randomly allocated to either glue (258 cases) or sutures (200 controls) to repair their wound.Cases and controls were similar in age, wound length and width involved. Those with wound seriously infected and longer than 5 cm were excluded.Length of time to perform procedure, pain assessment of procedure by doctor, parent and child and cosmetic outcome in 3 months and 1 year were measured. Results Time taken to repair the wound was faster in the glue group (P<0.01).Doctors and parents and the children themselves rated glue repair as less distressing (P<0.01).Complications (wound dehiscence, infection and corneal damage) were the same in both groups (P>0.05).Cosmetic outcome was better in the glue group in 3 months and 1 year (P<0.05).Conclusion Tissue adhesive glue is faster and easier and less painful than suturing.Tissue adhesive glue has better cosmetic outcomes than suturing when used for the repair of eyelid lacerations and surgical incisions in children.
5.Effects of lipoteichoic acid of bifidobacterium on Fas/FasL expression in B16 tumor-bearing mice
Journal of Third Military Medical University 2002;0(12):-
Objective To investigate the effect of lipoteichoic acid of bifidobacterium (BLTA) on the expressions of Fas/FasL in bearing melanoma B16 cancer mice. Methods Forty C57BL/6 mice were randomly divided into 4 groups (n=10),normal saline group (NS group),low-dose BLTA group (50 mg/L),middle-dose BLTA group (100 mg/L),and high-dose BLTA group (150 mg/L). Melanoma B16 cells (0.2 ml 5?109/L) were subcutaneously injected into the mice of the later 3 groups, and then,0.2 ml BLTA at corresponding doses was injected subcutaneously at the sites around the mass once a day for 10 d when the tumor (at least 2 mm?2 mm) was palpable. The NS group was given normal saline at same volume as in BLTA group. The changes of the killing activity of CTL was examined by MTT assay. The expression of the tumor-infiltrating CD4+ and CD8+ lymphocytes in tumor tissue were detected by immunohistochemistry. RT-PCR was used to detect the mRNA expression variance of the Fas and FasL in tumor and spleen tissue. The protein expression of Fas,FasL in tumor tissue and lymphocytes of spleen were detected by immunohistochemistry and Western blotting. Results Compared with the control group,BLTA significantly improved the CTL killing activity (P0.05). Conclusion BLTA enhances the killing activity of CTL by regulating Fas/FasL system, and thus, promotes apoptosis of tumor cells to suppress tumor immune escape in tumor-bearing mice, thereby it exerts anti-tumor effect further.

Tumor microvessel including two modes,as one is classic vascular structures surrounded with vascular endothelial cells and the other is vasculogenic mimicry( VM) surrounded with cancer cells.Recent studies suggested that anti-angiogenic drugs can inhibit classic microvessel structure significantly, but can not inhibit VM formation and even promote VM formation further more. This is one of the reasons affecting its clinical effica-cy.However,basic research has shown that traditional chinese medicine, gene therapy and drugs which is targeting for VM formation have an unique advantage in anti-VM.In this review, we summarize the progress of cancer therapy on targeting vasculogenic mimicry, and provide a basic for the development of new drugs for cancer thera-py through targeting both angiogenesis and VM formation.

Journal of Environment and Health 2007;0(08):-
Objectives To study the impacts of air temperature and the other weather factors on the daily mortality of the residents in cities for targeting the preventive measures to decrease the excess mortality induced by climate change. Methods The daily mortality and weather surveillance data were provided by Chongqing Center for Disease Control and Prevention and China Meteorological Bureau respectively. The correlation between the weather factors(temperature, humidity, air pressure, rainfall, wind speed) and the daily mortality of residents in a county of Chongqing were analyzed by using the Poisson GAM of time series(increased by 1℃ for air temperate, decreased by 1% for relative humidity and one unit for air pollution index) adjusting for the secular trend, seasonal trend,short-term fluctuation and day of week. Results The excess mortality increased to 12% as the temperature increased 1℃.The excess mortality increased to 4% and 0.6% respectively as the relative humidity decreased 1% and the air pollution index increased one unit. Conclusion High temperature, with humidity and air pollution, will cause increased excess mortality of residents in this county

Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2005;9(7):180-181
BACKGROUND: Research has proved that nifedipine can improve the functions of vascular endothelial cells. However, it still needs further study on its mechanism on dilating vessels.OBJECTIVE: To observe the effects of controlled-release nifedipine to nitrogen monoxide(NO) and induced nitric oxide synthase(iNOS) in spontaneously hypertensive rats(SHR).DESIGN: Comparative observational study based on experimental animals.SETTING: Experimental animal centre in a medical college.MATERIALS: This study was completed in Experimental Animal Centre of Shandong University during April to May 2002. Twenty-one recombinant inbred rats of clean class with body mass of(300 ± 2) grams were provided by Experimental Animal Centre of Shandong University. They were randomly divided into three groups: control group, normal group and low dose group, each with 7 rats.METHODS: Saline(10 mL/kg), 10 mL/kg and 3 mL/kg controlled-release nifedipine solution(0. 3 g/L) were poured into stomach to rats in control group, normal dose group and low dose group once everyday for 15 days respectively. Eyeball was removed to collect blood and heart and lung were removed at the same time to test the content of NO and iNOS in serum after last administration.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Content of NO, comparison of iNOS activity between groups.RESULTS: There was significant difference on NO content between normal dose group and control group, low dose group after 15 days' administration ( P < 0. 01 ) . Compared with control group and low dose group, there was significant difference on the iNOS activity in heart and lung of normal dose group(P <0.01, P <0.05).CONCLUSION: While nifedipine reduces the blood pressure, it can also improve the content of NO and resist the increasing activity of iNOS casued by increased blood pressure.

Chinese Journal of Pathophysiology 2014;(12):2284-2288
[ ABSTRACT] Diabetes is characterized by an absolute or relative deficiency inβ-cell mass, which cannot be re-versed with existing therapeutic strategies. The restoration of the endogenous islet β-cells can stabilize the level of blood glucose. The isletβ-cells can be obtained from the directional differentiation of stem cells, but the process is complex and has the risk of teratomas generation.Cell direct reprogramming, one terminal differentiated cell can transdifferentiate into another kind of terminal differentiated cell, which is other than directional differentiation from stem cells.Direct reprogram-ming gives rise to the generation of isletβ-cells from one terminal differentiated cell, may be preferable for diabetes therapy because of its unique advantage.
