Radiologic examination was carried out on 114 subjects with chondromalacia ofpatella with follow up study for 1~17 years. All patients had a history of injury and/or overstrainedknee. The main early X-ray findings were :subchondral bone absorption and cystic degeneration ofpatella, sclerosis and haziness of the articular surface of patella, formation of small spur,subchon-dral bone absorption of articular surface of the femur, synovial thickening, patellar ligament widenedwith indistinct margin, hazy reticular appearance of subpatella fat, and thickened quadriceps femoraltendon etc. The X-ray manifestations of patella and adjacent tissue of patella became progressivelymore obvious but sparing the soft tissue with elapse of time.

Objective To explore the status of social support and its relationship with depression in elderly university students. Methods 159 students aged 55 to 79 years of Nanning elderly university were selected using cluster sampling methods. They were surveyed by Social Support Rating Scale and Geriatric Depression Scale. Results ①The total score of social support(40.92±7.63) was higher than that of the national norm(34.56±3.73 ) (t=10.515,P<0.01),and score of social support, subjective support, utilization of support were higher than those of the elderly in Beijing Xicheng district community that was mental health guidance demonstration area in national community (t=2.064,2.017,9.222; P<0.05).②Social support score and each dimension score of having a spouse group were higher than those of no spouse group (t=5.78,4.956,4.918,3.175 ; P<0.0 1).③The positive rate of depression in the sample group was 26.8%.Social support score, objective support score, subjective support score of depression in positive group(37.43±7.41,21.43±4.93,7.67±2.37) were lower than those of negative group(42.17 ±7.35,24.43±4.22,8.78±2.83,t=3.585,2.277,3.776 ; P<0.05).④Social support, objective support, subjective support and depression were negatively correlated (r=-0.296,-0.194,-0.307; P<0.01).Conclusion Elderly university student's overall level of social support are higher, and social support is negatively correlated with depressive symptoms.

Objective To explore the incidence and related predictive factors for acute symptomatic esophagitis in patients with locally advanced non?small cell lung cancer ( NSCLC ) treated with intensity?modulated radiation therapy ( IMRT) . Methods Data were collected retrospectively from 256 patients with inoperable or unresectable stage Ⅲ NSCLC treated in our hospital between January 2007 and December 2011. The radiotherapy target volume included primary lung cancer and lymphatic drainage area involved, with a median dose of 60 Gy in 30 fractions (50-70 Gy).Of all the patients,109 patients (42.6%) received concurrent chemotherapy. Grade ≥2 acute esophagitis ( AE ) ( symptomatic esophagitis ) which occurred during radiotherapy and within 3 months after completion of radiotherapy served as the outcome event. National Cancer Institute Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events version 3.0( NCI?CTCAE3.0) was used to evaluate the grade of AE. The logistic regression model was used to analyze the predictive factors. Results A total of 174 patients ( 68%) had treatment?related grade ≥2 AE;154 patients ( 60. 2%) had grade 2 AE and 20 patients (7.8%) had grade 3 AE.The median dose when grade≥2 AE occurred was 30 Gy (11?68 Gy).For grade≥2 AE,multivariate analysis showed that esophageal V5?V60,mean dose, and age were independent predictive factors (P=0.021,0,0.010).For grade ≥3 AE,multivariate analysis showed that esophageal V50?V60 ,concurrent chemotherapy, and body mass index ( BMI) were independent predictive factors ( P= 0.010,0.003,0.019 ) . Old age and higher BMI were the protective factors for grade≥2 and ≥3 AE, respectively. Conclusions For patients with locally advanced NSCLC treated with IMRT, esophageal V50—V60 and concurrent chemotherapy are predictive factors for grade ≥3 AE,and esophageal V50 has a high predictive value for both grade ≥2 and ≥3 AE.

Objective:Patients are breathing freely during adjuvant proton pencil beam radiotherapy after breast conserving surgery. Fluctuation of the thorax may affect the position of the end of the proton beam flow, which needs to be precisely evaluated on a millimeter scale. Methods:For 20 patients with breast cancer treated with proton radiotherapy after breast conserving surgery, PET-CT scan was performed approximately 10 min after the end of proton radiotherapy. The images of PET-CT were processed for ROI determination and sampling line (profile) extraction on a Raystation RV workstation to calculate the actual difference between the predicted and real radioactivity from the same spatial location as obtained by PET acquisition R50. Then, the differences in the spatial location between the actual process of proton irradiation and the planned process were obtained. Depth difference values for each pair of sampling lines were presented. Results:For 20 patients with breast cancer with a median follow-up of 22 months (range 12 - 46 months), all patients survived at the last follow-up, and no radiation pneumonitis was observed during the follow-up period. Among the verification results of 21 cases, the depth difference of evenly distributed was (-0.75±1.89) mm in the primary field and (-0.82±2.06) mm in the secondary field; The depth difference of sequential treatment was (1.81±1.87) mm in the primary field and (1.32±1.74) mm in the secondary field; The depth difference of synchronous addition in the primary field was (-1.47±1.44) mm, and the depth difference in the secondary field was (-1.48±2.11) mm.Conclusion:The results of off-line PET-CT in vivo biological verification show that the accuracy of the dose boundary cut-off was within 3 mm in breast cancer patients, which meets the clinical and physician requirement for the precision in breast cancer treatment.
