OBJECTIVE:To study the effect of Herba Siegesbeckiae capsule on cerebral blood flow (CBF), cerebral vessel resistance (CVR), blood pressure (BP), electrocardiogram (ECG) and heart rate (HR)in anesthetized dogs. METHODS: The external carotid arteries on one side and the vertebral arteries of dogs were ligated, then the CBF of carotid arteries was measured by electromagnetic flowmeter, and the BP, EGG and HR were measured by polygraph. RESULTS: Herba Siegesbeckiae capusle could significantly increase CBF and decrease CVR; however, it has no effect on BP, ECG and HR. CONCLUSION: Herba Siegesbeckiae capsule can improve cerebral blood circulation through increasing CBF and decreasing CVR.
3.Protective Effects of Two Kinds of Fasudil Hydroehloride Injections on Experimental Cerebral Ischemia of Rats
China Pharmacy 2001;0(07):-
OBJECTIVE: To compare the protective effects of two fasudil hydroehloride injections (trade name: Yililu vs. Chuanwei) on experimental cerebral ischemia of rats. METHODS: A total of 60 SD rats were randomly divided into sham opertion group, model group, Yililu group, Chuanwei high dose group, and Chuanwei low dose group. Cerebral ischemia model was made in each group for the observation of the effects of fasudil hydroehloride injections on the neuralogical function, cerebral infarction size and the pathomorphology of brain tissues. RESULTS: As compared with model group, two kinds of the fasudil hydroehloride injections at the same dose identically decreased the score of neurological function as well as the cerebral infarction size, and lessened the degree of the pathomorphological change of brain tissues (P0.05). CONCLUSION: The two kinds of fasudil hydroehloride injections showed an equivalent protective effect on the damage of experimental cerebral ischemia.
4.Multiple cranial nerve palsies caused by varicella zoster virus in the absence of rash
Neurology Asia 2016;21(1):93-95
Varicella zoster virus (VZV) is a widespread human herpesvirus which causes chickenpox (varicella).
VZV infection can produce a broad spectrum of neurologic disorders including multiple cranial nerve
palsies. Among the cranial nerves, trigeminal and facial nerves are the most commonly involved. However,
multiple lower cranial nerve palsies caused by VZV infection is very rare. It is a diagnostic dilemma for
VZV infection if there are no skin or mucosa lesions, which are characteristic signs of VZV infection.
We report the case of a 54-year-old man with sudden right hearing loss, sore throat, odynophagia,
hoarseness, dysphagia and vertigo. Pure tone audiometry revealed right sensorineural hearing loss and
laryngoscopy proved that there were paralyses of the right upper pharyngeal constrictor muscle and
vocal cord. These findings were consistent with acute unilateral vestibulocochlear, glossopharyngeal
and vagus nerve palsies. There were no skin or mucosa lesions noted in our patient. The diagnosis
was assisted by the existence of anti-VZV serum IgM even if the polymerase chain reaction result was
negative. The symptoms of the patient improved after receiving anti-viral therapy. We emphasize the
role of VZV infection in multiple cranial nerve palsies and the importance of serologic test.

International Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2006;0(04):-
Breast cancer is one of the most common malignant tumours in women. It threatens the health and life of women. The imaging technology of breast electrical impedance scanning based on the dielectric properties of breast tissues develops a new aspect of early detection and auxiliary diagnosis of the breast cancer. The dielectric properties of human breast tissues reflect the pathological and physiological state of breast tissues and the measurement of these properties serves as the basis for electrical impedance scanning(EIS) technology. In this paper, the measurements and results of dielectric properties of human breast tissues are discussed, and the problems of measurement and the application perspective of the EIS are also explored.

It is now widely accepted that platelet aggregation plays an important role in physiological hemostasis and pathological thrombosis associated with cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. Anti-platelet aggregation drug research is also a hot spot of current research. The biggest challenge of antiplatelet therapy has been the molecular overlap of the hemostasis and thrombosis, leading to a serious risk of bleeding. Recent studies have emphasized the importance of shear stress generated from blood flow, which will primarily drive platelet activation and aggregation in thrombosis. So if we can take advantage of the differences between the physiological and pathological vascular blood flow environment, the development of selective anti-platelet therapy may be a safer treatment for cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. In this review, we discuss the underlying mechanisms of shear-induced platelet activation. Later, we summarize the effects and mechanisms of compounds and traditional Chinese medicine on shear-induced platelet activation. The aim is to provide a reference for the study of biological pharmacology of traditional Chinese medicine for promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis.
