In recent years, the increase in the number of cases of postural asphyxia has gradually attracted the attention and discussion of forensic scientists domestically and internationally, but a systematic, comprehensive and recognized expert consensus and identification standard has not been established at home and abroad. This paper reviews the case characteristics, occurrence, mechanism of death, and identification criteria of postural asphyxia, to provide reference for future research.

7.CiteSpace-Based Visualization Analysis of Forensic Research in China from 2010 to 2019.

OBJECTIVES:
To analyze the research status of forensic medicine in China from 2010 to 2019, obtain the development trend of forensic medicine and explore the hotspots and research frontiers.
METHODS:
The forensic medical academic papers published on China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) database from 2010 to 2019 were collected. CiteSpace 5.7.R1, an information visualization analysis software, was used to analyze publication organizations, authors, keywords, and other elements.
RESULTS:
The majority of the research institutions were universities, provincial and ministerial scientific research and forensic institutions. Forensic pathology was still an important branch of forensic medicine and a popular research direction. The "polymorphism" and "Y chromosome" had been the research hotspots in recent years. "Medical damage" and "standard" were the most novel studies.
CONCLUSIONS
In order to provide scientific basis and research direction for forensic research, this paper analyzes the cooperation network, research hotspots and research innovation in forensic research.

8.Review on the Science Experts' Opinions cited by the Supreme Court Reversing the Original Judgements for the Murder Cases.

The authors selected 19 murder cases, which were reversed by the Supreme Court with citation of experts' opinions in its judgements. The original courts sentenced that 15 cases were guilty, and 4 cases innocent. There were 38 experts' opinions including 16 of both pathological and serological fields. Others are 2 for questioned documents, 1 for fingerprint, 1 for shoeprint, 1 for fire, 1 for material object. The Supreme Court kept the attitude paying regard to experts' opinions with rather strict interpretation of them. Also it had great concern about the procedures collecting evidences and rationalities of experts' opinions. In some cases, it pointed out that the original court should have investigated further to clarify the vague evidences and opinions. We commented briefly about some possible controversies on the experts' opinions and interpretations of the Supreme Court, strictly in the viewpoint of forensic pathology.

This paper meticulously and comprehensively reviews research progress on the diagnosis of drowning in pathological signs, laboratory examination, immunohistochemistry test and virtopsy technology, and it also prospects the research direction of diagnosis of drowning.

10.Research Progress on Estimation of Early Postmortem Interval.

Estimation of postmortem interval (PMI) is very important for judging the nature of cases, restricting the scope of investigation and suspect, which is always the emphasis and difficulty for forensic pathology. Early postmortem interval is the time between 0 and 24 hours after death. Due to the shorter time after the case occurred, precisely estimating early postmortem interval can help solve crimes, which has important significance in forensic medicine. In recent years, series of advanced methods and technologies are used to estimate the early PMI by the internal and overseas scholars who work in the forensic area. This paper reviews the research progress on fluids biochemistry, supravital reactions, metabolomics, imageology and the degradation rule of genetic material to provide a new idea to the study and application for estimation of early PMI.
