To study the clinical feature and surgical outcome of subretina and vitreous hemorrhage associated with senile macular degeneration (SMD). Vitrectomy was performed in 29 eyes of 29 patients with subretina and vitreous hemorrhage associated with SMD. Changes in the retina were observed, and the results of surgery were analyzed. The results showed that there was submacular hemorrhage in 16 patients, in whom 4 showed periomacular subretinal hematoma. There was peri macular subretinal hematoma only in 13 cases. The pathological changes in the macular region included discoid degeneration, submacular neovascularization, fixed foldings, exudation, scar and atrophic discoid cicatrization. All patients got visual acuity improvement after surgery. However those patients who had subretinal hemorrhage got less improvement of visual acuity than the others. It suggested that the SMD patients who was complicated by subretinal hemorrhage had a severer macular lesion. Pars plana vitrectomy could restore central vision of patients who suffered from subretinal and vitreous hemorrhage. But the outcome was related with the position of subretinal hemorrhage.

Objective To evaluate applicative value of laparoscopy in children for the diagnosis and treatment of non-palpable testes.Method We evaluated retrospectively the laparoscopic approach used in 16 boys for the diagnosis and treatment of 21 non-palpable testes. All of them were diagnosed by non-palpable testis before operation.Results 7 cases (11 testis) in the internal ring were mobilized laparoscopically, and the operation was completed by open orchidopexy. Agenesis or atrophy of the 6 testis in the inguinal region was found. 2 high intra-abdominal testis (left) were found. The testis had no found in the intra-abdomen in two cases.Conclusions Miniinvasive laparoscopy is considered at present the standard method for the localization and treatment of non-palpable testes. No serious complications were recorded during or after operation. It should be the preferred method for the non-palpable testes.

Objective To investigate the effect of endovascular cooling on perioperative brain injury in patients undergoing intracranial aneurysm resection.Methods Sixteen Hunt-Hess Ⅱ -Ⅳ patients of both sexes aged 18-64 yr undergoing intracranial aneurysm resection were randomly divided into 2 groups(n = 8 each): mild hypothermia group(group MHT)and nonnothermia group(group NT).A CL-2295AE catheter was placed in the femoral vein after anesthesia induction to perform endovascular cooling.Bladder temperature was reduced to 34 ℃ and maintained for 24 h.The hemodynamic parameters were recorded during and after operation.Coagulantion function and electrolyte levels were determined at 24 h before operation and at 12 and 24 h after operation.The serum neuron-specific enolase(NSE)and S100B concentrations were determined at 1 d before operation and at 1,3and 7 d after operation by ELISA.Neurological function was assessed with GOS grade at 1 and 3 months after operation.Results There was no significant difference in hemodynamic parameters,electrolyte levels(Na+ ,K+ ,Ca2+)and coagulantion function(PT,APTT,Plt)between the two groups(P ＞ 0.05).The GOS grade was significantly higher,while serum NSE and S100B concentrations were significantly lower after operation in group MHT than in group NT(P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion Endovascular cooling(34℃,24 h)can reduce the brain injury safely and effectively during the perioperative period in patients undergoing intracranial aneurysm resection and improve the prognosis.

Two cases of the aortopulmonary scptal defect were operated on our hospital. Among them, one was associated with patent ductus arterious and primary thrombocytopenia and the other with chronic heart failure. The defects were repaired successfully with a patch through a transaortic approach by means of four-point fixation. The diagnosis and surgical technique were discussed.

In order to investigate the interelationship between copper deficiency and lipidemia, an experiment was done in weanling rats fed normol and copper deficient diet for one month. At the end of experimental period, the growth rate, the contents of copper, zinc, cholesterol and triglyceride in plasma and the activity of monoamine oxidase (MAO) in plasma were measured. The differences between the two diets were compared by student's test and the relation between plasma copper and plasma cholesterol or MAO was ascertained by regression analysis.The results showed that a lower body weight gain and a highly significant hypercholesterolemia were found in copper deficiency rats and the plasma cholesterol concentration correlated reversely with the plasma copper (r = -0.724, p

AIM: To study the action of Yuyang Powder(Herba Swertiae, Corium Elephantis, Rhizoma Bletillae, etc.) on the experimental gastric ulcer. METHODS: The rat gastric ulcer models were induced by burned acetic acid, irritabillity stimulus, ethanol injure gastric mucosa and pyloric ligation, respectively. The ulcer was obsered and the content of gastric juice, gastric acidity and pepsin were measured. RESULTS: Yuyang Powder could significantly reduce the areas of ulcers, restrain gastric ulcer, promote gastric ulcer heal, reduce gastric juice volume, restrain gastric secretion (in pyloric ligation). CONCLUSION: Yuyang Powder has the preventive and therapeutic in gastric ulcer.

Objective To investigate the correlations of the whole breast displacement in different respiratory cycle during free breathing (FB) following breast-conserving surgery to the displacement of selected skin marker,nipple,and selected surgical clip based on four-dimensional computed tomography (4D-CT).Methods Thirteen breast cancer patients who had undergone breast-conserving surgery received whole breast intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT).Respiration-synchronized 4D-CT image data were gathered during FB and were exported to the Varian Eclipse treatment planning system,and the whole breast target,nipple,superior clip,and metal marker on the skin at the anterior body midline were delineated on the CT images of ten phases of the respiratory cycle by the same radiotherapist based on the same delineating criteria.The displacement distances of the delineated target in the mediolateral (x),anteroposterior (y),and superoinferior (z) axles were achieved,and the correlations of the whole breast target displacement to the displacement of the clip,nipple,and skin marker were analyzed.The ipsilateral lung was delineated on the CT images of every phase of the respiratory cycle,and the changes in ipsilateral lung volume were analyzed during the respiratory cycle relative to the displacement of the breast.Results The maximal displacement distances of the whole breast target in the x,y,and z axles during FB were 0.71,0.76 and 1.29 mm,respectively ( F =5.755,P ＜ 0.05 ).There was no relationship between the three-dimensional (3D) displacement of the whole breast and the volume of the whole breast (r =-0.264,P ＜ 0.05 ),and there was no relationship between the displacemeat of the whole breast and the volume change of the ipsilateral lung ( r =0.346,P ＜ 0.05).There was no significant difference among the mean target displacement distances in 3 axles,and among 2 selected successive end-inspiration (EI) phases and 3 selected successive end-expiration (EE) phases.There was no significant difference between the volumes of the whole breast targets at the selected El and EE phases.There was no relationship between the displacement of the whole breast target and the displacement of the nipple,skin marker or superior clip in the cavity along the x- and z-axles.Along the y-axle,8/13,7/11 and 9/13 of the patients showed displacement of the whole breast target relative to the displacement of the nipple,skin marker and superior clip respectively.However,according to a population-based analysis,the displacement of the whole breast target was only significantly associated with the displacement of the superior clip ( r =0.657,P ＜ 0.05 ).Conclusions The clip registration is more credible and sensitive than a skin marker or the nipple for measuring and correcting the displacement of the whole breast target during radiotherapy.

Objective To establish and evaluate animal model of adult rats with vitamin D deficient and assess the association of vitamin D deficiency and hypertension .Methods Adult SD rats were divided into 3 groups :normal controls group(feed with ordina-ry forage) ,vitamin D deficient groups(feed without vitamin D)and vitamin D control group(feed with vitamin D) ,which were fed with different diets under 12 h:12 h without ultraviolet light bulb(UV-B) .After treatment for 6 weeks ,Retinal blood was collect-ed ,and Serum vitamin D levels was tested by EIA every 2 weeks .Results After treatment for 10 weeks ,Serum level of vitamin D in vitamin D deficient group were reduced to 2 .07 nmol/L ,while vitamin D group and normal control group were measured as 56 .74 nmol/L and 57 .61 nmol/L ,there was no statistically significant difference between vitamin D group and normal control group (P>0 .05) .hypertension of vitamin D deficient group was significantly higher than other two groups .Conclusion It is feasible to estab-lish model of adult rats with vitamin D by UV-B free light and diets control ,hypertension of rats vitamin D deficiency has a signifi-cant rise compared with the control group .

Objective To evaluate the immediate impact of radiofrequencycatheter ablation on left atrial (LA)volumes and function by velocity vector imaging(ⅤⅥ)and compare the LA function with and without atrial fibrillation after the operation.Methods Ten consecutive patients with paroxysmal AF were studied at baseline and within 3 days after ablation.Ten consecutive patients with persistent AF were studied within 3 days after ablation,in sinus rhythm.Ten patients with normal ventricular function were included in the study.ⅤⅥ was performed to assess LA sizes and strain,strain rate,velocity of the septum,lateral wall and the atrial roof from the apical four-chamber view.Results In patients with paroxysmal AF,global and regioal LA function was not significantly impaired after the ablation procedure.Subgroup analysis demonstrated that there were no significant difference in LA function betwwen patients with paroxysmal AF and control subjects,but the indexed LAVmax was significantly larger in all AF patients compared with control subjects.The global function of LA,including LAEF,LAaEF and LA expansion index significantly decreased in persistent AF patients.By contrast,the LA septal strain,velocity and lateral strain were lower than controls.Conclusions Radiofrequency catheter ablation has no influence on LA function assessed by ⅤⅥ within three days after the operation for patients with paroxysmaI AF.The function of persistent AF patients is absolutely lower than control subjects.

Objective To analyze the volume and position of the gross tumor volumes (GTV) in primary esophageal cancer based on contrast-enhanced three-dimensional (3D),four-dimensional (4D) and cone beam (CB) computed tomography (CT).Methods A total of thirty-four patients underwent 3D-CT and 4D-CT simulation scans for computer treatment plan and contrast-enhanced CBCT scans were conducted prior to the first treatment.GTV3D,GTV4D50,internal GTVMIP (IGTVMIP) and internal GTVCBCT (IGTVCBCT) were delineated on 3D-CT,4D-CT50 (the end expiratory phase),4D-CTMIP (the maximum intensity projection),and CBCT datasets,respectively.The IGTV10 was defined as 10 respiratory phases GTVs in 4D-CT.To evaluate the difference in position,volume and the volumes encompassed characteristic.Results The significant difference was observed in the volumes [IGTV10 ＞ (IGTVCBCT or IGTVMIP) ＞ (GTV3D or GTV4D50)] regardless of the tumor location.Regarding IGTV10 as the standard volume,the underestimations or overestimations between IGTV10 and IGTVCBCT were larger than that of between IGTV10 and JGTVMIP (t =-8.294--3.192,P ＜ 0.05).However,there was no significant difference between the areas of IGTV10 which excluded in IGTVCBCT and IGTV3D (P ＞ 0.05).The GTV4D50/ IGTVCBCT ratio for upper esophageal tumors was negatively correlated to motion vector (r =-0.756,P ＜ 0.05).The centroid coordinates of IGTVCBCT in AP direction were significantly different from the test volumes (GTV3D,GTV4D50,IGTVMIP and IGTV10) (t =-3.559--2.435,P ＜ 0.05).The IGTV10/IGTVCBCT ratio was positively correlated to motion vector (r =0.695,P ＜ 0.05) for middle esophageal tumors.The centroid coordinates of IGTVCBCT were significantly different IGTV10 (t =2.201,P ＜0.05) in AP direction.For distal esophageal tumors,the significant difference was observed in the centroid coordinate between IGTVcBcT and IGTVMIP (t =-2.365,P ＜ 0.05) in LR direction.The percentage of IGTV10 excluded the IGTVcBcT were significantly correlated to the motion vector (r =0.540,0.678,P ＜ 0.05) for both middle and distal esophageal tumors.The mean MI value of IGTVCBCT to the other four test volumes ranged from 0.65 to 0.72.Conclusions CBCT has much motion information than 3D-CT but less than IGTV10.CBCT was similar to MIP images based on respiration motion.However,the target motion information encompassed in CBCT and MIP images cannot be exchanged to each other.
