Objective To study the curative effect of transurethral incision for male urethral stricture or atresia. Methods A retrospective) review was made on 55 male patients with urethral stricture or atresia treated by transurethral incision. Results The success rate of the operation on one session was 90.9% (50/55), while the remaining 5 patients were cured by two times of operations.Forty-seven patients were followed for 6~12 months (mean,10 months).Urethral dilatation was performed for once within 1 week after the remorval of catheter in 10 patients, for 3~5 times within 3 months after operation in 21 patients, and after the third postoperative month in 16 patients. Conclusions Transurethral incision for male urethral stricture or atresia is effective.

BACKGROUND: Group pre-test has confirmed that amnion endothelial cell conditioned medium can induce human umbilical cord blood mesenchymal stem cells into dopaminergic neuron-like cells. In this process, neurotrophic factors and their receptors may play an important role. OBJECTIVE: To study the function of neurotrophic factors secreted by amniotic epithelial cells in the differentiation of human umbilical cord blood mesenchymal stem cells into neurons.METHODS: P1 human umbilical cord blood mesenchymal stem cells at 2×10~8 /L were incubated and assigned to 3 group. Control group was added with HG-DMEM medium. Induction group received human amniotic epithelial cell medium. Blocking agent group underwent blocking agent K252a fluid, and the incubated was conducted at 36 ℃ for 40 minutes, and then amniotic epithelial cell medium was added. Immunofluorescence chemistry was used to determine neuron specific enolase and dopamine transporter expression in human umbilical cord blood mesenchymal stem cells. Real-time quantitative PCR was employed to detect neuron specific enolase, dopamine transporter and tyrosine hydroxylase expression in human umbilical cord blood mesenchymal stem cells. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Nerve growth factor and brain-derived neurotrophic factor were observed in human amniotic supernatant. P1 human umbilical cord blood mesenchymal stem cells expressed Trka and Trkb. Forty-eight hours following induction, compared with the control group, positive expression of neuron specific enolase and dopamine transporter was significantly increased in the induction and blocking agent groups (P < 0.05), especially in the induction group (P < 0.05). Neuron specific enolase, dopamine transporter and tyrosine hydroxylase mRNA levels were significantly greater in the induction and blocking agent groups compared with the control group (P < 0.01), and each gene mRNA levels were significantly greater in the induction group than in the blocking agent group (P < 0.01). Results verified that neurotrophic factor in the human amniotic epithelial cells plays important effects on differentiation of human umbilical cord blood mesenchymal stem cells into neurons. The promotion effects are mediated by activating Trk receptor.

Objective To discuss effective nursing measures to reduce incidence rate of anxiety and depression caused by α-intefferen treatment, and to enable the successful completion of interferon treatment for hepatitis B patients. Methods Hepatitis B patients(220 cases) receiving α-interferon treatment were randomly divided into the intervention group(115 cases) and the control group(105 cases). The control group adopted conventional nursing, while in the intervention group, comprehensive intervention measures such as close observation, psychological intervention, symptomatic treatment intervention were used.Zung self-rating depression scale (SDS) was used to compare the incidence rate of anxiety and depression. The completion of treatment was also compared between the two groups. Results After 3,6 and 12 months of treatment incidence rate of anxiety and depression in the intervention group was significantly lower than that of the control group (P<0.05).There were 112 cases completed treatment in the intervention group, which were higher than those of the control group,72 cases (P<0.01). Conclusions Nursing intervention measures such as close observation, psychological intervention, symptomatic treatment can reduce incidence rate of anxiety and depression caused by a-interferon treatment.

Objective To explore the effect of quality control circle(QCC) activities for improving the autonomous learning ability of the maxillofacial surgical nurses .Methods Twenty maxillofacial surgical nurses used the steps and methods of QCC activ‐ities .The factors affecting the autonomous learning ability were analyzed and the effective intervention measures were adopted .The activity cycle was 12 months ,including 40 times of theory classes and 40 times of classroom interaction .The scores of nurse autono‐mous learning ability scale ,satisfaction of doctors and patients on surgical nurses were compared between before and after activities . Results The scores of 2 dimensions ,including self motivational belief and self assessment ,after conducting QCC activities were in‐creased compared with before conducting QCC activities ;the doctor′s satisfaction degree and patient′s satisfaction degree were in‐creased ,the differences were statistically significant (P<0 .05) .Conclusion The QCC activities can motivate the working enthusi‐asm and responsibility ,help nurses to increase the autonomous learning ability ,thus enhance the nurses overall quality .

Objective To investigate the cognitive ability and mental health status of the empty-nest elderly people lived in urban area of Beijing. Methods We recruited subjects from 8 communities in Beijing.1067 people were investigated, including 839 empty-nest elderly subjects and 228 not empty-nest elderly subjects. We used demography questionnaire and mental health scale to assess the cognitive ability and mental health of these elders. Results The subjects in the empty-nest elderly having high education,well-condition marriage and being male were more than those in the other group (T or x2=10.769,2.009,159.523,P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the global cognition between the two groups (F=5.541,P>0.05).Among language ability, working memory, attention and executive function, the differences between these two groups were significant (F=7.203,4.436,8.806,P<0.05).Compared with normal elderly subjects,empty-nest elderly subjects had higher scores in face scale and GDS scale (F=5.541,5.578,P<0.05).Conclusion There are remarkable cognitive ability and mental health differences between empty-nest and not empty-nest elders.

Objective:To analyze PD-L2 expression on monocytes of peripheral blood cells in systemic lupus erythematosus ( SLE) and it′s correlation with the degree of disease activity .Methods:Peripheral blood of 26 cases of SLE patiens and 38 cases of healthy controls were collected .Peripheral blood mononuclear cells ( PBMC) were isolated and realtime PCR was carried on to analyze the PD-L2 gene expression. At the same time flow cytometry was performed to analyze the CD 14 and PD-L2 expression.Results:PD-L2 was significantly up-regulated on monocytes in RA patients than in healthy controls and had correlation with the disease activity and the SLEAI score. Conclusion:These findings help to clarify the function of PD-L2,including its potential role as a biomarker for SLE .
