4 female Wistar rats,weighing 287.5?21.7 gms,about 7～7.5 months old,were used.Using ~3H-TdR and ~(14)C-TdR as labels, double labelling method was employed. The dose of ~3H-TdR used was 1 ?Ci/gm body weight and that of ~(14)C-TdR used was 0.125 ?Ci/gm body weight. Bone marrow smears of both femurs were made and autoradiographs were coated with No. 4 liquid nuclear emulsion.The following results were obtained:In erythropoietic series: Nc/N_H=5.0?1.0, LI=62.3?17.9％, MI=3.4?1.9％. According to the above figures, by calculation, we obtained the cell cycle time and the duration of 4 phases as follows: TG_1≤4.3 hrs,Ts=5.0 hrs, TG_2≥1.0 hr, Tm=0.4 hr and Tc=10.7 hrs.In neutrophilic granulopoietic series: Nc/N_H=3.9?0.9, LI=45.3?5.3％, MI=3.3?1.4％. According to the above figures, the following parameters of the cycle. were obtained as follows: TG_1≤5.6 hrs, Ts=3.9 hrs, TG_2≥1.0 hr, Tm=0.4 hr and Tc=10.9 hrs.There was no obvious difference of Tc between the erythropoietic series, and theneutrophilic granulopoietic series in rats, but significant difference of Tc between them in mice.

By using double labelling methods with ~3H-TdR and ~(14)C-TdR, autoradiographs were prepared in young (40 days old) and in old (16 months old) male LACA mice and in adult (7～7.5 months old) female Wistar rats to observe the cell cycle time and relevant parameters of dorsal skin and both testes.The following results were obtained:1. In young and old mice, duration of cell cycle (Tc) and relevant parameters of epidermis were as follows respectively: labeling index (LI)=1.0 and 1.5％; mitotic index (MI)=0.4 and 0.4%; duration of DNA synthesis (Ts)=3.5 and 4.2 hours; Tc=20.3 and 17.5 days.In adult female rats, they were 3.0%, 0.3%, 4.7 hours and 8.3 days respectively. Tc of rat epidermis was obviously shorter than that of mouse epidermis (P0.50).

AIM: To compare the difference in serum prolactin levels and the concentrations of anti-infective factors of human colostrums between normal labor and cesarean section. METHODS: The serum prolactin levels were measured at 48 h, 96 h after parturition in 100 cases of normal labor and cesarean using radioimmunoassay. Furthermore, the levels of SIgA, IgG, IgM, C3, C4 were tested in 100 cases at the same time using the technique of immuno-turbidimetry. RESULTS: The serum prolactin levels in normal labor tested at 48 h after parturition were significantly different with that of the cesarean section group. But there was no significant difference in serum prolatin levels 96 h after parturition between the two groups. The levels of SIgA,IgG,IgM,C3 and C4 of the colostrum in the cesarean group were higher significantly than those of the normal group at 48 h after parturition. (P＜0.05 or P＜0.01). At 96 h after parturition, there was no significant difference in SIgA, IgG, IgM and C3 between the two groups except C4. CONCLUSION: At 48 h after paturition, the serum prolactin levels of normal labor group are higher than that of the cesarean section group. The concentrations of anti-infective factors (SIgA, IgG, IgM, C3 and C4) of human colostrums at 48 h after paturition in cesarean section group are higher than those of normal labor group.

Medical genetics is the mutual penetrative and combined discipline of genetics and medicine.Medical genetics teaching should be improved to adapt to the discipline development.Teaching reform and practice of medical genetics was developed in basic medical college of Nanjing university of traditional Chinese medicine.Constructive exploration was made in teaching content,teaching techniques,teaching methods,scientific research and performance appraisal standards in order to improve the quality of medical genetics teaching and to train high-quality medical talents.

Aim To study effects of loganin and morro-niside on aging astrocytes induced by D-galactose. Methods Cortex astrocytes of newly born rats were cultured in vivo and indentified by immunofluorescence method.Firstly,appropriate D-galactose concentration was selected and effects of loganin and morroniside on proliferation activity of aging astrocytes induced by D-galactose were determined by MTT test.Then SOD, MDA were taken as indicators to study the effects of loganin and morroniside on aging astrocytes induced by D-galactose.Thirdly,growth factors like gliar cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF),basic fibro-blast growth factor (bFGF)tested by ELISA method and expression of Bax,caspase-3,phospho-extracellu-lar signal-regulated kinese (p-ERK1 /2),phospho-mi-togen-actived protein kinase /extracellular signal-regu-lated kinase kinase (p-MEK1 /2)were taken as indi-cators to discuss the potential protection mechanism. Results Loganin and morroniside exerted certain effects on proliferation of aging astrocytes induced by D-galactose,improving SOD,GDNF,bFGF release and lowering MDA release significantly (P <0.05 ). The expressions of Bax and caspase-3 proteins had no difference between model group and loganin group, morroniside group.While the expressions of p-ERK1 /2,p-MEK1 /2 of loganin group,morroniside group were improved significantly compared with model group.Conclusion Loganin and morroniside have protective effects on aging astrocytes induced by D-ga-lactose,and increase the proliferation ability.Protec-ting their antioxidant systems and improving the expres-sion of p-ERK1 /2,p-MEK1 /2 proteins are possible mechanisms.

Objective To explore the mental health and personality traits of the parents of cerebral palsy children. Methods 128 parents of cerebral palsy children and other 128 parents of healthy children were investigated with the Symptom Check List-90 (SCL-90), Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQ). Results The scores of SCL-90 were more in the parents of cerebral palsy children, especially in the factors of somatization, obsession, depression, anxiety, and paranoid (P<0.01). The personality traits characterized as introversion (P<0.05) and neuroticism (P<0.01). The multiple regression showed that some factors of SCL-90 were related with the personality of neuroticism. Conclusion The mental health of the parents of children with cerebral palsy are poor, which may be related with the personality of neuroticism.

Objective To investigate the preparation of a polycaprolactone (PCL)/poly (lactic acid-glycolic acid) (PLGA) degradable ureteral stent and its degradation ability in vitro.Methods From December 2010 to September 2012,degradable ureteral stent was fabricated by electrospinning,using different concentration of PCL/PLGA (5％,10％,15％,20％,25％,30％).The structure of stent was scanned by electron microscopy (SEM).The Instron system was used to test the mechanical property of those stents.The PCL/PLGA stents of different concentration (5％,15％,25％) were immerged into the urine to assess their degradable ability 7,14,21,28,35,42,49,56 days later.Results The inner diameter of the white tubular scaffold was 1.5 mm and the outer diameter was 2.0 mm.The SEM results showed that the scaffold had been made by nanofiber with the structure of multi-porous.The tension test showed that the mechanical property was enhanced with the increasing in the proportion of the PCL.The lowest stress at break was found in 5％ PCL/PLGA stent,while it was still sufficient for the mechanical criteria of degradable biomaterial.The degradation curves of different ratio of PCL/PLGA stent were close to a straight line.The 5％ PCL/PLGA stent collapsed into pieces within 28 d.The 15％ and 25％ PCL/PLGA collapsed within 42 d and 56 d,respectively.Conclusion The PCL/PLGA biodegradable ureteral stent has a good mechanical property and the degradation time can fully meet the demand of a ureteral stent.

Objective To investigate the association of the major histocompatibility complex class Ⅰ chain-related antigens A (MICA)-129 gene polymorphism and soluble MICA (sMICA) levels with ulcerative colitis (UC) in Hubei Han nationality. Methods The genetic polymorphism of MICA-129 was examined using a polymerase chain reaction-sequence based test (PCR-SBT) in 256 UC patients and 460 healthy controls. From the above subjects, 80 patients and 90 healthy individuals were randomly selected for determining serum sMICA concentrations by ELISA. Results The frequencies of variant allele (G) and genotype (GG) in MICA-129 gene were significantly higher in the UC patients than in the controls(76. 8%vs 72. 2%, P =0. 060; 55.9% vs 46. 3% ,P =0. 016). Serum sMICA levels were significantly elevated in the patients compared to the controls[(576. 47 ±279. 02) ng/L vs( 182. 17 ±73. 11 ) ng/L,P ＜0. 001]. In addition, the sMICA levels were higher in the patients carrying MICA-129 GG genotypes than in those carrying ( GA + AA) genotypes [( 638. 87 ± 347. 15 ) ng/L vs ( 507. 51 ± 152. 87 ) ng/L, P = 0. 035].Conclusions The genetic polymorphism of MICA-129 and sMICA levels are correlated with the UC patients in Hubei Han nationality. Our findings demonstrate that MICA-129 gene may contribute to the pathogenesis of UC.

Objective To study the expression of enhancer of zeste homolog 2 (EZH2) gene in transitional cell carcinoma (TCC) of the bladder celt lines, carcinoma tissues and normal bladder tis-sues and to evaluate the roles of EZH2 in the development and progression of bladder carcinoma. Methods RT-PCR, Western-blot and immunocytochemistry were used to analyze the expression of EZH2 of the bladder cell lines (T24, EJ, MGH-U1, BIU-87). The prostate cancer cell line PC-3M was used as an EZH2-positive cell line. EZH2 gene expressions in 45 cases of bladder carcinoma and 12 cases of normal bladder mueosa were detected by RT-PCR. Of cancer cases, 31 were superficial tumors and 14 were invasive tumors; 13 were G1, 21 were G2 and 11 were G3. Results EZH2 was detected in the 4 TCC cell lines. The EZH2 expression rate of TCC (82.2%) was significantly higher than that of normal bladder tissues (8.3%, P<0.05). The expression rate in superficial tumors was 74.2% and in invasive tumors was 100.0%, but there was no significant difference (P>0.05). The expression rates increased with tumor cell grade increase, but there was no significant difference (P> 0.05). Conclusions EZH2 could play an important role in the development and progression of blad-der carcinoma. It could be used as a potential gene therapy target of bladder cancer.
