Objective To observe the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor receptor (KDR)in human cervical carcinomas, to clarify the relationship between the expression and invasion, metastasis, prognostic value in human cervical carcinoma. Methods KDR was stained immunohistochemically in 80 cases of human cervical carcinoma. Results The expression of KDR in the endothelial cells of tumor vasculature is: the high KDR expression rate of clinical cancer stages ≤Ⅰb and Ⅱa~Ⅲa was 21 4% and 60 6% (P

Objective: To investigate the reparative dentine formation induced by the recombinant human bone morphorgenetic protein2(rhBMP2) used as a indirect pulp capping agent in dog teeth. Methods: Type V cavities were prepared in 48 teeth of 2 dogs. rhBMP2 with zinc oxide(A) was lined on the bottom of 24 cavities, saline with zinc oxide(B) in 12 and zinc oxide eugentol cement(C) in 12. 0.5 g of tetracycline was orally administered to the dogs twice a day on day 24, 54, 83 and 111. On day 135, the teeth were extracted and processed for the quantitative observation of reparative dentin under a fluorescent microscope .Results: On day 135, the reparative dentine (expressed as "?m" of diameter of area) in group A, B and C was 825.04? 125.46, 315.33? 80.43 and 415.25? 90.75 respectively(P

Objective: To develop adriamycin liposome (AL) , adriamycin long circulating liposome (ALCL) and adriamycin long circulating temprerature-sensitive liposome ( ALTSL) and to study their anti-tumor effects on tumor-bearing mice. Methods: The antitumor activity was observed using the tumor weight as index. The life prolongation rate of mice was calculated according to the tumor-bearing mice survival time. The tissue distribution of adriamycin was determined by HPLC method. Tumor, heart, liver and kidney tissue of the tumor-bearing mice, were sliced and prepared to observe the tissue pathology differences. Results: Compared with free adriamycin, the anti-tumor effects of ALCL and ALTSL were remarkably increased. Their tumor growth inhibitory rates were 57. 8% and 67. 0% respectively. The study of pharmacoki-netics indicated that the adriamycin concentrations were remarkably higher in tumor tissue and blood, lower in heart and lung tissue of ALCL and ALTSL groups when compared with the free ADM group; The pathology slices indicated that tumor cells in the ALTSL group with hyperthermia were mostly destroyed; the cardiac muscle cells in the ALTSL group were similar to the normal cardiac muscle. Conclusion: ALCL and ALTSL remarkably increased the adriamycin concentration on the tumor site, significantly enhanced the anti-tumor effects, decreased the side-effects (such as cytotoxicity) when compared with free ADM, they also significantly prolonged the survival time of the tumor-bearing mice.

UNLABELLEDBackround N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) is a reliable predictor in acute coronary artery disease (CAD). Little is known about patients with stable CAD, especially Chinese patients with CAD. The aim of the present study was to investigate the association of NT-proBNP levels with the severity of CAD in patients with normal left ventricular ejection fraction.
METHODSA total of 658 consecutive patients were divided into two groups based on angiograms: CAD group (n = 484) and angiographic normal control group (n = 174). The severity of CAD was evaluated by modified Gensini score, and its relationship with NT-proBNP was analyzed.
RESULTSThe prevalence of risk factors such as age, male gender, diabetes mellitus (DM), dyslipidemia, smoking, and family history of CAD in the CAD group were higher than that in the control group. In multivariate regression model analysis, age, gender, and DM were determinants of the presence of CAD. NT-pro BNP was found to be an independent predictor for CAD (OR:1.66 (95% CI: 1.06-2.61), P < 0.05). In a receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis, an NT-proBNP value of 641.15 pmol/L was identified as a cut-off value in the diagnosis or exclusion of CAD (area under curve (AUC) = 0.56, 95% CI: 0.51-0.61). Furthermore, NT-proBNP was positively correlated with Gensini score (r = 0.14, P < 0.001) in patients with CAD.
CONCLUSIONNT-proBNP was an independent predictor for Chinese patients with CAD, suggesting that the NT-proBNP level might be associated with the presence and the severity of CAD.
