Two lab-scale expanded granular sludge bed reactors were operated using granular sludge and river sediments as seed sludge respectively, through gradually lowering down the inner pH values, acid-tolerant methanogenic granular sludge with good methanogenic activity were acquired and formed. Two EGSB reactors could be operated steadily under the condition of pH 5.8～6.2, and their volumetric loading rates were about 5.5～7.5 kg COD/(m3/d), the COD removal efficiencies were about 90%. The granular sludges taken from two reactors could maintain relatively higher methanogenic activity under low pH, and the relative activities of the granular could be 51.78% and 55.6% of the value with the condition of pH 7.0 when pH was 5.5. Studies on the diameter distribution, settling velocities, concentrations of different metal elements and microbiological characteristics of these acid-tolerant granular sludges were also conducted.

Objective To discuss the impact of a immunosuppressive protocol using tacrolimus combined with mycophenolate without steroid on glycometabolism after liver tansplantation (LT).Methods 295 adult liver transplant recipients were under investigation and divided into two groups,to receive immunosuppression therapy using tacrolimus and mycophenolate with (n =142) or without steroid (n =153).The fasting blood-glucose level,rate of hyperglycemia,infection and metabolic complications were followed up at 1st,2nd,4th,8th,12th,16th,20th and 24th week after LT.Results There were no significant differences between two groups in gender,age.body weight and FBG level before LT.In both groups,the FBG levels were significantly elevated immediately and reached the peak at 1st week after LT,then gradually decreased over time post-LT.The FBG level and rate of hypcrglycemia were significantly lower in steroid-free group than in steroid group in each observation time point with the differences being significant (P＜0.05) at 4th week post-LT.The overall rate of hyperglycemia was 52.9％ in steroid free group and 76.8％ in steroid group with the difference being significant between the two groups (P＜0.05) and a risk ratio of 2.94 (steroid-free group versus steroid group).The rate of acute rejection was slightly higher in steroid-free group (8.50 ％ ) than in steroid group (7.75％ ) (P ＞ 0.05 ).Also the incidence of intention badness,infection and hypercholesterinemia was significantly lower in steroid group than in steroid-free group.Conclusion The immunosuppressive protocol without steroids is safe and effective of reducing the risk of hyperglycemia and metabolic complications after LT.

Objective To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of the imported malaria cases in 20 counties at the bor?der region of Yunnan Province from 2012 to 2014,so as to provide the evidence?based proof for adjusting the strategies in the elimination stage. Methods The malaria epidemic data of the 20 border counties in Yunnan Province from 2012 to 2014 were collected and analyzed by using Microsoft Excel 2010. Results From 2012 to 2014,a total of 1 558 malaria cases were report?ed in the 20 border counties in Yunnan Province,among which,1 336 were imported cases,accounting for 85.75%(1 336/1 558),and 222 were indigenous cases,accounting for 14.25%(222/1 558). The number of the imported cases in the above years took up 80.00%(544/680),89.10%(425/477)and 91.52%(367/401)of the total reported cases in the whole year,re?spectively. Among all the 1 336 imported cases,1 045(78.22%)were infected with Plasmodium vivax,284(21.26%)were in?fected with P. falciparum,3 were infected with P. malariae,3 were mixed infection and 1 was an unclassified case;2 patients died. And 95.58%of the cases were mainly infected in Myanmar(1 277 cases). Young and middle?aged adult of 20-40 years who worked overseas were the predominant(802 cases,60.03%)and most of the cases occurred from April to June of the year (679 cases,50.82%). Those cases mainly distributed in Tengchong(459 cases),Ruili(366 cases),Yingjiang(191 cases)and Mangshi(78 cases). Conclusions The epidemic situation of imported malaria is serious in the border region of Yunnan Prov?ince. Therefore,the surveillance system of malaria control needs to be well planned and managed to ensure timely case detection and prompt response at the elimination and post?elimination stage.

Objective To study effect of eleetromyograghie(EMG) biofeedback training on three kinds of u- rinary ineontifienee.Methods Nineteen patients with urinary incontinence were treated by means of EMG biofeed- back training twice a day for six weeks.The treatment was performed with a device,which can detect the EMG ampli- tude of the pelvic muscle and deliver electric stimulation accordingly.Results After 6 weeks of treatment,the inci- dence of uretbrorrhea was reduced by 41%,and the frequency of micturition was decreased by 38% ,while the fre- quency of urination in one day reduced to 9 to 13.The general subjectively rated improvement rate of patients was 53% ,while the general objectively one was 58%.Conclusion Biofeedback training has significant therapeutic: eftects on patients with urinary incontinence.

Objective To explore if the occupational exposure to low dose thorium could induce adaptive response in peripheral lymphocytes.Methods 40 individuals.who exposed to thorium and rare earth mixed dust(exposure group) or control in Baotou Steel Plant, were selected, and chromosome aberrations were analyzed.Then the peripheral blood samples were irradiated in vitro with 2 Gy60Co γ-rays,and unstable chromosome aberration or DNA stand breakage analysis using single cell gel electrophoresis was performed. Objective To study the effects of anti-oncogene WWOX on cell growth of epithelial ovarian cancer,in order to find a new approach of gene therapy for ovarian cancer.Methods A eukaryotic expression vector containing WWOX was transfected into ovarian cancer cell line HO8910 in vitro (recombinant plasmid group),and positive cell clones were selected and amplified.Expression of WWOX protein was detected by western blot. Untransfected cell(blank contrast group) and transfected empty plasmid cell(empty plasmid group)were served as control groups.In vitro,the biology effect of WWOX on HO8910 cell was analyzed throush the methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium test,transwell chamber cell invasion assay in vitro,agarose clony-formation and flow cytometry.In vivo,the cell of transfection was transplanted intraperitoneally in to BALB/c nude mice.The survival time and growth ability of nude mice were observed.Results (1)Recombinant plasmid group cell could steadily express WWOX protein,while in empty plasmid group and blank control group the expression of WWOX protein were not detected.(2)The growth rate of recombinant plasmid group cell was inhibited.(3)The agnrose clony-formation rate of recombinant plasmid group(19.8%)was significantly lower than that of the empty plasmid group(54.5%)and blank control group(56.0%,P＜0.05).(4)Flow cytometry showed that(72.08±0.39)% of cells was arrested at G0/G1 stage in recombinant plasmid group, while in empty plasmid group and blank control group G0/G1 stage cells were at (41.02±1.08)% and (39.31±0.67)% (P＜0.05). (5) In vitro invasion assay showed that invasion cell number in recombinant plasmid group (89.7±3. 1 ) was not significantly different from that of empty plasmid group(91.2±1.3) and blank control group(91.4±1.3, P ＞0. 05). (6) In vivo test in nude mice showed that WWOX gene could inhibit tumor growth of the HO8910 cells. Conclusions Tumor suppressor gene WWOX could interfere with the cell cycles of ovarian cancer cell and inhibit cell proliferation. As a new valuable tool,it premises to have application in the gene therapy of ovarian cancer.

objective To investigate the method of securing donors and recipients during the initial procedure of adult-to-aduh living donor liver transplantation(ALDLT).Methods The clinical data,preoperative assessment,surgical strategies and complications of 71 adult donors and recipients who underwent ALDLT from April 2007 to November 2007 were retrospectively analyzed.Results Sixty-three right lobes without middle hepatic vein(MHV),1 extended right lobe,4 right lobes with MHV and 3 left lobes with MHV were obtained.Two donors suffered from postoperative complications including 1 with bile leakage and 1 with abdominal bleeding.No donor mortality occurred.Eighteen recipients had postoperative complications including 12 with biliary complications,3 with vascular complications and 3 with small-for-size syndrome.The perioperative mortality rate of recipients was 10%(7/71).Conclusions Strict donor and recipient assessment,optimal surgical strategy and postoperative care are extremely helpful to secure donors and recipients during the initial procedure of ALDLT.
