Objective To analyze the influence of total thyroidectomy (TT) on quality of life of patients with nodular goiter with iodine deficiency.Methods 70 patients who received TT in the hospital from June 2014 to July 2015 were randomly divided into two groups, 35 cases in each.Control group received subtotal thyroidectomy and observation group received total thyroidectomy.The situation of operation, thyroid function, therapeutic effects and quality of life in two groups were compared.Results Operation time and hospital stays of observation group were significantly longer than that of control group (P<0.05);There was no significant difference in intraoperative bleeding volume and curative effective rate between the two groups;Before surgery, there was no significant difference in thyroid function between the two groups;After surgery, thyroid function of both two groups decreased compared with pre-operation, but there was no significant difference;There was significant difference in VAS and health description system scores between the two groups.Conclusion TT in treatment of patients with nodular goiter with iodine deficiency has significant clinical efficacy with high cure rate and less complication, and it can improve quality of life of patients, which is beneficial to postoperative recovery and worthy of generalization in clinical application.

Objective: To investigate the growth inhibition effects of pemetrexed and oxaliplatin on human gastric cancer cell line BGC-823 in vitro, and to explore the possible mechanism. Methods: The BGC-823 cells were treated with different concentrations of pemetrexed or oxaliplatin alone or in combination. The growth inhibition rate of BGC-823 cells was detected by MTT method, and the change of cell cycle distribution was analyzed by flow cytometry (FCM). The expressions levels of proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) and cell cycle D1 (cyclin D1) proteins in BGC-823 cells were examined by Western blotting. Results: The growth of BGC-823 cells was inhibited by pemetrexed or oxaliplatin in a dose- and time-dependent manner (P £?0.05). The percentage of cells in G1 phase was increased while which in S phase was decreased by the treatment of pemetrexed or oxaliplatin. The expression levels of PCNA and cyclin D1 proteins were significantly decreased, and the combination regimen of pemetrexed and oxaliplatin exerted a synergistic effect. The growth inhibition rate of BGC-823 cells treated with pemetrexed (80 μg/mL) for 24 h followed by oxaliplatin (40 μg/mL) for 24 h was significantly decreased as compared with those of the cells treated with pemetrexed (80 μg/mL) combined with oxaliplatin (40 μg/mL) at the same time or treated with oxaliplatin (40 μg/mL) for 24 h followed by pemetrexed (80 μg/mL) for 24 h (P<0.05). Conclusion: Pemetrexed and oxaliplatin can both inhibit the proliferation of gastric cancer BGC-823 cells and arrest the cells at G1 phase. The sequential regimen of pemetrexed followed by oxaliplatin may have the strongest growth-inhibitory effect on gastric cancer cells among different doublet regimens. Copyright© 2011 by TUMOR.

Objective To study the expression of basic fibroblast growth factor(bFGF)in the kidney tissues of chronic interstitial nephritis(CIN).Methods Expression of bFGF was assayed in 30 patients with CIN and 5 normal persons by SP method of immunohistochemical technique.The average gray value and average optical density of the bFGF positive parts and its ratio with the whole visual field had been measured with video analysis system.Results The expression of bFGF in the kidney tissues of CIN was significantly stronger than that in normal tissues.The average gray value,average optical density and the positive areas were significantly high compared with that of normal cases.Conclusion The bFGF can promote the proliferation of fibroblasts and monocytes in renal interstitial patients and lead to renal interstitial fibrosis in the end.
