It has been found that apoptosis involves in pathophysiological process of ischemic cerebral injury and plays an important part in neu-ronal injury. To explore the mechanisms of cerebral ischemia and new therapeutic pathways in respect of apoptosis has become the focusing point of neuronal injury research in recent years. This article reviewes recent studies on cerebral ischemia andapoptosis as follows: outline of apoptosis; the presence of an apoptotic component in the loss of neurons following cerebral ischemia; the apoptotic role in process of focal cerebral ischemia; the probable mechanisms of neuronal apoptosis and also unresolved problems in the field.

Objective To explore the effect of vagus nerve stimualtion on wake-promoting and the expression of 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) 2A receptor in the prefrontal contex of coma rats with traumatic brain injury. Methods 72 Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divid-ed into control group, sham-stimulated group, stimulated group and antagonist group with 18 rats in each group. Traumatic brain injury mod-el was established by a weight-drop head injury. The antagonist group was injected with SB334867, and both the antagonist group and the stimulated group received vagus nerve stimulation. Their behaviors were recorded. And immunohistochemistry technique was used to detect the expression of 5-HT2A receptor in the prefrontal cortex. Results 12 rats in the stimulated group, 9 in the antagonist group and 4 in the sham-stimulated woke up. The expression of 5-HT2A receptor from low to high was ranged as the control group, the antagonist group, the sham-stimulated group and the stimulated group (χ2=11.464, P=0.009). Conclusion Vagus nerve stimulation could raise consciousness in co-ma rats after traumatic brain injury, which may be related to up-regulating the expression of 5-HT2A receptor.

OBJECTIVE Through biomonitoring the effect of ethylene oxide sterilization process,to discuss the precision usage and management of the technology in operating room,and instruct the sterile job in operating room in the future.METHODS The process of ethylene oxide sterilization was monitored by biological indicators to realize the whole controlling of sterilization effects.RESULTS In the whole 210 sterile articles,202 were qualified,and 8 were disqualified.CONCLUSIONS With correct procedures of sterilization and assurance the qualification of the biomonitoring indicators,the optimal quality of sterilization would be achieved.

Spontaneous rhythmic activity of pacemaker neurons in the central nervous system underlies fundamental neurological processes such as locomotion, cognition and circadian rhythm. Among the wide range of ion channels required for its generation, the Ca2+-activated K+(KCa) channels play a prominent role in maintaining physiologically-relevant frequency and pattern of pacemaker activity. Much of our understanding of the functions of KCa channels in pacemaker neurons have been derived from pharmacological studies using channel modulators, such as iberiotoxin and apamin. Despite the significant advances made, recent studies have painted an increasingly complex picture of the effects of widely used KCa channel modulators on unintended targets that may confound our under?standing of their functions. In this review, we discussed the utility and shortcomings of the KCa channel modulators, and highlighted the significance of these findings, because the KCa channel modulators have been used in early clinical trials to treat disorders ranging from Parkinson disease to alcoholism.

Multi-tragets are used for deep brain stimulation (DBS) to promote wakefulness, such as midbrain, thalamus, hypothalamus, etc. Lateral hypothalamic area may be one of the most potential tragets.

Objective To evaluate the imaging features of CT and MR in patients with intraductal papillary mucinous tumor of the pancreas (IPMT).Methods Imaging findings of 10 patients with histopathologically proved IPMT were retrospectively analyzed.Of 10 cases,CT was performed in 8 patients,and MR in 6 patients.Results Eight lesions were in pancreatic head and neck,and 2 lesions were in pancreatic body and tail.The images showed the dilated pancreatic duct in all the patients,and the diameter was (0.8 ± 0.2) cm.Three patients had the dilation of branch duct,and 4 patients showed atrophy of pancreatic body and tail.The CT showed 6 cases had cystic masses with septa and mural nodules;and 2 cases had the dilation of the main pancreatic duct with intraductal mural nodules.Lesions showed low signal intensities on T1WI and high signal intensities on T2WI with septa and mural nodules,which showed moderate hypointensity on T1WI and T2WI and heterogeneous enhancement on enhanced T1WI.Conclusions There are some characteristics in CT and MR manifestation of IPMT:common in pancreatic head and neck,dilated pancreatic duct,cystic tumors with septa and mural nodules,and the enhancement of cystic wall,septa and mural nodules.The disease might be correctly diagnosed with these characteristic imaging features.

Objective To investigate the surgical treatment of Maisonneuve injury associated with posterior malleolus fracture under direct visualization via the posterolateral approach.Methods Between January 2008 and June 2015,27 patients with Maisonneuve injury associated with posterior malleolus fracture were treated at our department.They were 18 men and 9 women,aged from 20 to 60 years (average,40.1 years).All fractures and syndesmoses received open reduction under direct visualization and internal fixation via the posterolateral approach.The posterior malleolus fractures were fixed with screws or plate and the syndesmoses fixed using cortical bone screws.Functional results were evaluated using the Baird-Jackson ankle scoring system.Results The patients were followed up for 8 to 30 months (average,18 months).No wound infection,necrosis,dehiscence,lose of reduction or implant failure was found during follow-up visits.All cases got bony union at the last visit.The excellent and good rate was 92.6％.Conclusion Since the posterolateral approach allows good access to the Maisonneuve injury and posterior malleolus fracture under direct visualization,it facilitates accurate direct fracture reduction,stable fixation and early exercise.
