Based on the plasma activation and the sensing ability of cataluminescence, a low temperature plasma-assisted cataluminescence sensor was developed for ethylene detection using the low-cost and abundant alkaline-earth oxides of MgO nanomaterials as the sensing materials.Taking advantage of the high activity of the plasma, the working temperature of this method was greatly decreased than that of traditional detection method (300-500℃), and the sensing of ethylene was realized at room temperature without any heating device. This ethylene cataluminescence sensor gave a linear range of 112-4997 ng/mL (90-3998 ppm, R=0.97669) with a detection limit of 37 ng/mL (30 ppm).Besides, the sensor showed good selectivity and stability in ethylene detection.Due to the absence of the heating element, the present sensor was simple, rapid, low-cost, low energy-consumption and stable for ethylene sensing. This study improved the applicability of cataluminescence sensors and might promote the development of cataluminescence sensors.

Objective To observe the effect of hyperbaric oxygen (HBO)on neuropathic pain and detect the expression of Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway in the mechanism of treatment. Methods A total of 30 healthy male SD rats were randomly divided into three groups (n =10):group S(sham group),group CCI(chronic sciatic nerve constrictive injury group),group HBO(HBO treat-ment for seven days group).Rats of group HBO received HBO one time per day for 7 days since the 1st day after surgery.Rats of group S and group CCI were just placed inside the chamber for approxi-mately 100 min,no HBO treatment. The mechanical withdrawal threshold (MWT)and thermal with-drawal latency (TWL)of all rats were measured on 1 d before CCI,1 d,3 d,5 d,7 d after CCI respec-tively.The animals were sacrificed after the last measurement of pain threshold, and the lumbar spinal cord specimen were taken to detect the expression of Wnt3a,β-catenin by immuno-histochemis-try and Western blot analysis. Results Compared with group S,MWT decreased significantly and TWL shortened significantly in CCT and HBO groups at 1,3,5,7 d after operation (P <0.05).Com-pared with group CCI,MWT was elevated and TWL was prolonged in group HBO at 1,3,5,7 d after operation (P <0.05).The Wnt3a,β-catenin expression increased after CCI treatment compared with group S and group HBO (P <0.05).Compared with group CCI,the expression of Wnt3a,β-catenin decreased significantly in the group HBO and group S at 7 d after operation (P <0.05).There was no significant difference between group S and group HBO.Conclusion HBO post-conditioning may relieve the neuropathic pain of rats by inhibiting the activation of spinal path of Wnt3a,β-catenin.

Objective:To investigate the influence of preoperative thyroid dysfunction on the 30-day postoperative mortality and complications in elderly patients with hip fracture. Methods:A retrospective analysis was conducted of the 349 elderly patients with hip fracture who had been admitted to Department of Orthopedic Trauma, Beijing Luhe Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University from January 2018 to December 2019. They were 108 males and 241 females, with an average age of 76.3 years (from 60 to 104 years). There were 190 femoral intertrochanteric fractures and 159 femoral neck fractures. By the preoperative level of thyroid function, the patients were divided into a normal function group of 290 cases and a dysfunction group of 59 cases. The 2 groups were compared in terms of hospital stay, mortality and incidence of complications within 30 days postoperation. Results:In this cohort, the rate of 30-day postoperative mortality was 3.4%(12/349) and the incidence of 30-day postoperative complications 14.6%(51/349). The 2 groups were comparable because there was no significant difference between them in the preoperative general data except for the preoperative comorbidity of coronary heart disease ( P>0.05). In the dysfunction group, the hospital stay averaged (10.2±6.9) d, the rate of 30-d postoperative mortality 1.7%(1/59) and the incidence of 30-day postoperative complications 16.9%(10/59), which were insignificantly different from those in the normal function group [(10.7±7.5) d, 3.8%(11/290) and 14.1%(41/290), respectively] ( P> 0.05). Conclusion:Since preoperative thyroid dysfunction does not affect the 30-day postoperative mortality and postoperative complications in the elderly patients with hip fracture but no definite thyroid disease, routine thyroid function screening is not recommended for them.
