Acta Universitatis Medicinalis Anhui 2014;(10):1485-1488
This restrospective case included 40 patients(79eyes)who underwent implantable collamer lens or toric implantable collamer lens implacement. Uncorrected and corrected distance visual acuities, refractions, posterior chamber intraocular lens vault, intraocular pressure, endothelial cell loss, cylinder axis of the toric intraocular lens were evaluated for moderate to high myopia and astigmatism. 2 years or above after operation mean uncorrected and corrected distance visual acuities were 0.830±0.269 and 0.980±0.241 respectively. The mean spherical equiva-lent was ( -0.66±1.08) D postoperatively. 29 eyes had implanted toric intraocular lens, which 24 eyes were un-der 15 degrees of the intended axis, 1 eye was under 30 degrees of the intended axis and 4 eyes were above 30 de-grees of the intended axis. The mean intraocular pressure was(1.76±0.41)kPa. The endothelial cell density loss was 11.18%. The mean vaults at 6 months and 2 years or above were (0.510±0.141)mm and (0.442±0.117) mm respectively. A statistically significant difference was found ( P <0.05 ) . Two sets of data were in the normal range. Phakic posterior chamber intraocular lens implantation appears safe and effective, which provides long-term predictable, stable refractive results.

OBJECTIVETo report a case of simple congenital bilateral ejaculatory duct absence (EDA) complicated with seminal vesicle cyst and review the relevant literature in order to improve the diagnosis and treatment of the disease.
METHODSWe retrospectively reviewed the clinical data of a case of bilateral congenital EDA complicated with seminal vesicle cyst, reviewed the relevant literature at home and abroad, and comprehensively analyzed the embryonic development, diagnosis, and treatment of congenital EDA.
RESULTSThe patient was a 23-year-old man, present at the clinic for infertility after married for a year. Vasography and other imaging examinations confirmed simple congenital bilateral EDA complicated with seminal vesicle cyst. Pathologic biopsy showed normal spermatogenic function of the testes.
CONCLUSIONCongenital EDA originates from embryonic developmental defect of the mesonephric duct, and it can be confirmed by vasography. Transurethral incision of the ejaculatory duct and intracytoplasmic sperm injection can be employed for the treatment of bilateral EDA.

Objective To observe the effect of acupuncture plus early-stage rehabilitation training on the neurological function and levels of serum ischemia-modified albumin (IMA) and neuron-specific enolase (NSE) in patients with acute cerebral infarction.Method Sixty-eight patients with acute cerebral infarction were randomized into a treatment group and a control group, 34 cases each. The control group was intervened by conventional medications, while the treatment group was intervened by acupuncture plus early-stage rehabilitation training in addition to the medications given to the control group. The two groups were both treated once a day, 10 d as a treatment course. Three treatment courses later, the changes of serum IMA and NSE levels were observed; the Modified Edinburgh-Scandinavian Stroke Scale (MESSS), Barthel Index (BI) and Fugl-Meyer Assessment (FMA) scores were compared before and after the treatment.Result The MESSS, BI and FMA scores were significantly changed in both groups after the intervention (P<0.01). After the intervention, the MESSS, BI and FMA scores in the treatment group were significantly different from those in the control group (P<0.05). The serum IMA and NSE levels were significantly changed in both groups after the intervention (P<0.01). After the treatment, the serum IMA and NSE levels in the treatment group were markedly lower than those in the control group (P<0.01).Conclusion Acupuncture medication combined plus early-stage rehabilitation training can promote the recovery of neurological function of acute cerebral infarction patients, which is related to the down-regulation of serum NSE and IMA levels.

OBJECTIVETo deposit silver nanoparticles on a titanium surface to obtain antibacterial properties. To reduce the incidence of peri-implantitis, and improve the success rate of implantation.
METHODSA silver nanoparticle-modified titanium (Ti-nAg) surface was prepared using silanization method, and its surface was characterized by using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer (EDX). Two species of bacteria, namely, Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, were used to test the antibacterial effect of Ti-nAg surface.
RESULTSScanning electron microscope (SEM) revealed that a small quantity of silver nanoparticles were deposited on the titanium surface. XPS analyses revealed that 6.8% of silver was present on the titanium surface. After 24 h of incubation, 94.23% of Staphylococcus aureus and 95.34% of Escherichia coli were killed on the Ti-nAg surface.
CONCLUSIONResults suggest that silver nanoparticle-modified titanium is a promising material with an antibacterial property that may be used as an implantable biomaterial.

Objective: To clone the cDNA of human sPLA2-IIA,construct the engineered Escherischia coli expressing human sPLA2-IIA and identify the expressed human sPLA2-IIA. Methods: Total RNAs were purified from human fetal spleen. The cDNA of human sPLA2-IIA was cloned by RT-PCR and inserted into plasmid pET32a(+) between NcoI and EcoRI sites for expressing the recombinant human sPLA2-IIA in Escherischia coli BL21(DE3). The recombinants were screened by SDS-PAGE. The engineered Escherischia coli expressing trxA-human sPLA2-IIA fusion protein was established. The expressed human sPLA2-IIA exists in the form of inclusion body and accounts for about 25% of the total proteins of Escherischia coli BL21(DE3). Conclusion: the engineered E. coli methods are suitable for preparing plenty of human sPLA2-IIA which has laid base for the large-scale expression, purification and basic studies of human sPLA2-IIA.

Objective To observe polyclonal antibodies immobilized on magnetic submicron particles (MSP) as affinity adsorbents and test the reliability of predicted maximum adsorption activity of an enzyme/mutant from a cell lysate (Vs) in recognizing positive mutants. Methods Escherichia coli alkaline phosphatase (ECAP) and Pseudomonas Aeruginosa arylsulfatase (PAAS) were purified by affinity chromatography to serve as immunogens for the preparation of their antisera, which after fractionation by 33% ammonium sulfate and DEAE-cellulose chromatography yielded the respective polyclonal antibodies. After activation of COOH on MSP, polyclonal antibodies of each enzyme were immobilized to give MSP-polyAb.Activities of an adsorbed enzyme were measured with a chromogenic substrate of 4-nitrphenol by determining absorbance at 405nm after the termination of reaction by alkali.Based on the response curve of activities of the adsorbed enzyme to protein quantities of a lysate, Vs was predicted for comparison. Results The maximum adsorption quantity of ECAP or PAAS on the respective MSP-polyAb was about 2.0mg/g.Specific activity of ECAP after affinity purification was about 70-fold of that of PAAS.ECAP mutant R168K showing about 50% activity improvement versus ECAP was recognized by comparison of Vs predicted with only 2.5μg of MSP-polyAb;with PAAS mutant G138S as the starting one, the use of 10.0μg of MSP-polyAb to predict Vs recognized the mutants bearing more than 20% activity improvement. Conclusion With an optimized quantity of MSP-polyAb to predict Vs, weak positive mutants of an enzyme of low activity can be recognized when activities of the adsorbed enzyme/mutant are reliably measured.
