Acta Universitatis Medicinalis Anhui 2014;(10):1485-1488
This restrospective case included 40 patients(79eyes)who underwent implantable collamer lens or toric implantable collamer lens implacement. Uncorrected and corrected distance visual acuities, refractions, posterior chamber intraocular lens vault, intraocular pressure, endothelial cell loss, cylinder axis of the toric intraocular lens were evaluated for moderate to high myopia and astigmatism. 2 years or above after operation mean uncorrected and corrected distance visual acuities were 0.830±0.269 and 0.980±0.241 respectively. The mean spherical equiva-lent was ( -0.66±1.08) D postoperatively. 29 eyes had implanted toric intraocular lens, which 24 eyes were un-der 15 degrees of the intended axis, 1 eye was under 30 degrees of the intended axis and 4 eyes were above 30 de-grees of the intended axis. The mean intraocular pressure was(1.76±0.41)kPa. The endothelial cell density loss was 11.18%. The mean vaults at 6 months and 2 years or above were (0.510±0.141)mm and (0.442±0.117) mm respectively. A statistically significant difference was found ( P <0.05 ) . Two sets of data were in the normal range. Phakic posterior chamber intraocular lens implantation appears safe and effective, which provides long-term predictable, stable refractive results.

Objective To observe the effect of acupuncture plus early-stage rehabilitation training on the neurological function and levels of serum ischemia-modified albumin (IMA) and neuron-specific enolase (NSE) in patients with acute cerebral infarction.Method Sixty-eight patients with acute cerebral infarction were randomized into a treatment group and a control group, 34 cases each. The control group was intervened by conventional medications, while the treatment group was intervened by acupuncture plus early-stage rehabilitation training in addition to the medications given to the control group. The two groups were both treated once a day, 10 d as a treatment course. Three treatment courses later, the changes of serum IMA and NSE levels were observed; the Modified Edinburgh-Scandinavian Stroke Scale (MESSS), Barthel Index (BI) and Fugl-Meyer Assessment (FMA) scores were compared before and after the treatment.Result The MESSS, BI and FMA scores were significantly changed in both groups after the intervention (P<0.01). After the intervention, the MESSS, BI and FMA scores in the treatment group were significantly different from those in the control group (P<0.05). The serum IMA and NSE levels were significantly changed in both groups after the intervention (P<0.01). After the treatment, the serum IMA and NSE levels in the treatment group were markedly lower than those in the control group (P<0.01).Conclusion Acupuncture medication combined plus early-stage rehabilitation training can promote the recovery of neurological function of acute cerebral infarction patients, which is related to the down-regulation of serum NSE and IMA levels.

OBJECTIVETo report a case of simple congenital bilateral ejaculatory duct absence (EDA) complicated with seminal vesicle cyst and review the relevant literature in order to improve the diagnosis and treatment of the disease.
METHODSWe retrospectively reviewed the clinical data of a case of bilateral congenital EDA complicated with seminal vesicle cyst, reviewed the relevant literature at home and abroad, and comprehensively analyzed the embryonic development, diagnosis, and treatment of congenital EDA.
RESULTSThe patient was a 23-year-old man, present at the clinic for infertility after married for a year. Vasography and other imaging examinations confirmed simple congenital bilateral EDA complicated with seminal vesicle cyst. Pathologic biopsy showed normal spermatogenic function of the testes.
CONCLUSIONCongenital EDA originates from embryonic developmental defect of the mesonephric duct, and it can be confirmed by vasography. Transurethral incision of the ejaculatory duct and intracytoplasmic sperm injection can be employed for the treatment of bilateral EDA.

OBJECTIVETo deposit silver nanoparticles on a titanium surface to obtain antibacterial properties. To reduce the incidence of peri-implantitis, and improve the success rate of implantation.
METHODSA silver nanoparticle-modified titanium (Ti-nAg) surface was prepared using silanization method, and its surface was characterized by using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer (EDX). Two species of bacteria, namely, Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, were used to test the antibacterial effect of Ti-nAg surface.
RESULTSScanning electron microscope (SEM) revealed that a small quantity of silver nanoparticles were deposited on the titanium surface. XPS analyses revealed that 6.8% of silver was present on the titanium surface. After 24 h of incubation, 94.23% of Staphylococcus aureus and 95.34% of Escherichia coli were killed on the Ti-nAg surface.
CONCLUSIONResults suggest that silver nanoparticle-modified titanium is a promising material with an antibacterial property that may be used as an implantable biomaterial.

China Journal of Chinese Materia Medica 2015;40(16):3179-3182
Hydrophidae, one of the precious traditional Chinese medicines, is generally drily preserved to prevent corruption, but it is hard to identify the species of Hydrophidae through the appearance because of the change due to the drying process. The identification through analysis on gene barcode, a new technique in species identification, can avoid the problem. The gene barcodes of the 6 species of Hydrophidae like Lapemis hardwickii were aquired through DNA extraction and gene sequencing. These barcodes were then in sequence alignment and test the identification efficency by BLAST. Our results revealed that the barcode sequences performed high identification efficiency, and had obvious difference between intra- and inter-species. These all indicated that Cyt b DNA barcoding can confirm the Hydrophidae identification.

Chinese Journal of Anesthesiology 2013;33(7):799-802
Objective To evaluate the effects of sevoflurane on proteome in the cortices of neonatal rats. Methods Thirty neonatal rats at postnatal day 7 (6 rats each litter,5 litters in total) were randomly assigned into 2 groups (n =15 each):control group (C group) and sevoflurane group (S group). The rats were exposed to air and 1.8 % sevoflurane for 4 h in C and S groups, respectively. One rat from each litter was chosen in each group at the end of anesthesia and the puncture needle was inserted into the left ventricle via the chest wall.Arterial blood samples were then collected for blood gas analysis and for determination of blood glucose. One rat from each litter was sacrificed in each group at 3 and 72 h after the end of anesthesia, and their cortices were then dissected.Two-dimensional differential in-gel electrophoresis (2-D DIGE) was used to identify patterns of protein expression in cortices cross-labeled with different CyDyes. The differentially expressed proteins were analyzed by using matrixassisted laser desorption/ionization time of flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF-MS).Results Acid-base imbalance, anoxia or lycopenia were not found at 3 h after the end of anesthesia in both groups. The analysis showed there were 6 differentially expressed proteins at 3 h after the end of anesthesia in S group compared with C group.Among the 6 proteins, the expression of 4 proteins (class 2 c beta-tubulin,neuron-specific class Ⅲ beta-tubulin,CRMP-1 and CRMP-4) which belonged to cytoskeleton/neuronal growth proteins was down-regulated,the expression of 1 protein (ATP synthase beta subunit) which belonged to hydrolyses and transferases was down-regulated,and the expression of 1 protein (guanine nucleotide binding protein beta1) which belonged to signal transduction proteins was up-regulated (P < 0.05).No significant changes in protein expression were identified at 72 h after 1.8% sevoflurane anesthesia (P > 0.05).Conclusion 1.8% sevoflurane-induced 4 h anesthesia can induce short-time changes in the expression of proteins which are related to neuronal migration, differentiation, energy metabolism and signal transduction in cortices of neonatal rats, which may contribute to its neurodegenerative effects in brains of rats during the development period.
