1.EFFECT OF DIETARY FAT ON LIPID COMPOSITIONS AND THE ACTIVITY OF CYTOCHROME OXIDASE OF CARDIAC MITOCHONDRIA FROM GUINEA PIGS
Acta Nutrimenta Sinica 1956;0(02):-
Effect of 10% lard diet on lipid compositions and the activity of cyto-chrome oxidase of cardiac mitochondria from guinea pigs was observed. The results showed that after feeding the diet for 50 days, the activity of cyto-chrome oxidase of the experimental animals tended to be lowered; the total cholesterol content was increased; in contrast, the total phospholipid content was decreased. As a result, the molar ratio of total cholesterol to total phospholipid was significantly raised (P

A dynamic study for the activity of myocardial cytochrome oxidase from guinea pigs fed with low selenium and low phospholipid semi-synthetic diet (basal diet) or diet supplemented with selenium, phospholipid or other agents was conducted with Pye Unicam SP-1800 UV spectrophotome-ter and Circular C100.The results showed that the activity of myocardial cytochrome oxidase from animals fed with basal diet was the lowest. The single supplement of selenium or phospholipids did not increase the enzymic activity significantly. Only when selenium and phospholipids, especially all the ingredients related to the phospholipids metabolism, such as choline and methionine were supplemented simultaneously, the enzymic activity (velocity constant K) then increased significantly, and sometime even exceeded that of the group fed with normal diet. In the sametime the ratio of phospholipids in heart and the cardiolipin content was close to that of control animals fed with normal diet. The significance of boundary lipids in heart for membranous enzyme and the pathogenesis of Keshan disease was discussed.

Objective To study the clinical characteristics of necrotizing enterocolitis(NEC) in premature neonates. Methods Twenty eight premature and 35 full term neonates with NEC in our hospital from 1994 to 2003 were enrolled in this retrospective study. The clinical manifestation, X ray and laboratory results were analyzed. Results The presentations of premature group were more severe than that of the full term group, such as poor perfusion (54% vs 26%, P

Objective To investigate the imaging manifestations of congenital intestinal malrotation. Methods The clinical data of 92 infants with congenital intestinal malrotation admitted from January 1993 to December 2012 were studied retrospectively. All the 92 cases enrolled in this study were diagnosed based on imaging examinations and confirmed surgically. The imaging features of four examinations including plain abdominal radiography, upper gastrointestinal radiography, lower gastrointestinal angiography and ultrasound examination were analyzed. Results The percentage of the infants who presented with the initial clinical symptoms of vomit, blood stool and abdominal dilatation was 87.0%(80/92), 3.3%(3/92) and 1.1%(1/92), respectively, and eight cases [8.7%(8/92)] received prenatal ultrasound, which showed intestinal malrotation. Clinical examination showed no abdominal abnormalities in 68 (73.9%) cases. Seventy-seven cases underwent plain abdominal radiography, revealing intestinal obstruction in 31 cases. Thirty-six cases underwent upper gastrointestinal radiography, which revealed malrotation in 14 cases, and duodenal complete/incomplete obstruction or stenosis in 19 cases. Twenty-two cases underwent lower gastrointestinal angiography, and all of them were diagnosed as malrotation. Seventy-nine cases were examined with abdominal ultrasonography, and 58 cases were diagnosed as malrotation. Conclusions Rational selection of imaging examinations can improve the preoperative diagnosis. When congenital intestinal malrotation is suspected, abdominal ultrasound should be done as the first optional examination. At the same time, plain abdominal radiography should be selected accordingly. When intestinal malrotation with or without midgut volvulus is suggested, surgery should be performed as early as possible. When the diagnosis is not clear, upper or lower gastrointestinal radiography should be done.

Objective To explore the characteristic manifestations of breast malignant isodense masses using mammography. Methods 121 breast isodense masses with pathological confirmations were collected.Compared indicators with pathological findings were the tumor size, shape, edge, structure changes around the mass, axillary lymph nodes, skin changes, nipple changes,suspi-cious malignant calcification.χ2 test and Logistic regression analysis were used to evaluate the diagnostic values of each indicator.Re-sults In the 121 isodense masses,73 were benign,48 were malignant tumors.According to χ2 test analysis, factors impacted the nature of mass including:tumor morphology (χ2 =14.376,P =0.002),tumor edge (χ2 = 21.555,P =0.000),structure twisted surrounding the mass (χ2 =26.939,P =0.000),axillary lymph nodes (χ2 =1 6.285,P =0.000),skin thickening (χ2 =4.698,P =0.030).According to multivariate binary Logistic regression analysis, risk factors of the Logistic regression model included:edge infiltrating of mass (P =0.014),structure twisted surrounding the mass (P =0.003),axillary lymph nodes (P =0.026).Conclusion The characteristic manifestations of breast malignant isodense masses include edge infiltrating, structure twisted surrounding the mass, axillary lymph nodes. These manifestations are of great significance in differential diagnosis of breast isodense masses.

Objective To explore the optimal combination of parameters for the maximum spatial cluster size and maximum temporal cluster size of scan statistics. Methods The daily incidence data of hand-foot-and-mouth disease (HFMD) in Jingzhou in 2016 was collected as data source. The maximum spatial cluster sizes were set to 50%, 40%, 30%, 20%, and 10% of the population at risk. The maximum temporal cluster sizes were set to 7d, 14d, 30d, and 60d. A total of 20 parameter setting schemes were formed and spatial-temporal scanning was conducted one by one. The areas where the number of towns covered by the scanning area was less than 25 were selected, and the clustered epidemic of hand-foot-mouth disease can be detected at the same time in Xiejiaping Town of Songzi City and Sanzhou Town of Jianli County. The combination of large LLR and RR values was the optimal parameter setting. Results When the spatial windows were set to 20% of the population at risk, and the temporal windows were set to 30d, a total of 6 aggregation areas were detected. The number of covered townships was less than 25, and the clustered epidemic of Xiejiaping Township and Sanzhou Town were successfully detected. The LLR and RR values of the detected aggregation area were relatively large. This combination was the optimal parameter setting. Conclusion The combination of different parameters has a significant impact on the results of spatial-temporal scan statistics. It is recommended that parameters be optimized before applying this method.
