1.The effects of intravesical therapy with elemene in preventing postoperative recurrence of bladder cancer

Objective To investigate the effects of intravesical therapy with elemene in preventing postoperative recurrence of superficial bladder cancer and its toxic and side effects. Methods This series included 123 patients with superficial bladder cancer (T 1),consisting of transitional cell carcinoma GⅠ in 37 cases,GⅡ in 73 and GⅢ in 13.They all underwent surgical treatment. Postoperatively, they were randomly assigned to 2 groups:63 patients in elemene group received instillation of elemene (400 mg,once a week) 2 weeks after operation and 60 patients in mitomycin C (MMC) group received instillation of MMC(40 mg,once a week) 2 weeks after operation. The instillations were repeated for 6 weeks and thereafter monthly for 1 year.The recurrence rates,side effects,and NK cell activity before and after treatment were evaluated. Results The recurrence rate of elemene group (mean follow-up of 19.7 months) was 7.9% (5 cases),which was significantly lower than that (25.0%,15 cases) of MMC group (mean follow-up of 19.4 months;P
2.Factors affecting repeated HIV antibody tests among men who have sexwith men in Wuhan City

Objective:
To investigate the prevalence and influencing factors of repeated HIV antibody tests among men who have sex with men (MSM) in Wuhan City, so as to provide insights into the development of interventions against AIDS among MSM.
Methods:
MSM with self-reported homosexual behaviors in a community studio in Wuhan City were recruited using a convenient sampling method from January to April 2019, and participants' demographic features, sexual behaviors, HIV antibody tests and recognition of HIV antibody tests were collected using questionnaires. Factors affecting repeated HIV antibody tests were identified using a multivariable logistic regression model.
Results:
Totally 300 valid questionnaires were recovered, with a mean age of (31.06±10.24) years. Among all the participants, 196 participants had the first homosexual behaviors over 18 years of age (65.33%), 107 participants were insertive partners (35.67%), and 125 participants received sex-transmitted diseases (STDs) tests in the past six months (41.67%). The mean score for recognizing the risk of HIV infection was 12.41±3.09, for HIV antibody test self-efficiency was 17.07±2.12, and for perceived social supports was 17.42±2.41. A total of 287 respondents received HIV antibody tests (95.67%), including 192 participants receiving repeated HIV antibody tests (64.00%). Multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that age of >18 years for the first homosexual sex behavior (OR=0.404, 95%CI: 0.223-0.734), receiving STDs tests in the past six months (OR=3.896, 95%CI: 2.145-7.076), sex role as receptive partners or both receptive and insertive partners (OR=0.502, 95%CI: 0.275-0.917), satisfying with HIV antibody test services (OR=2.955, 95%CI: 1.311-6.660), and high score for HIV antibody test self-efficiency (OR=1.149, 95%CI: 1.005-1.314) were factors affecting repeated HIV antibody tests among MSM.
Conclusions
The detection of repeated HIV antibody tests was 64.00% among MSM in Wuhan City in 2019, and age for the first homosexual behavior, STDs tests, sex role, evaluation of HIV antibody test services and self-efficiency of HIV antibody tests may be factors affecting repeated HIV antibody tests among MSM.
3.AIDS related knowledge, attitude and behaviors of MSMin a gay bathhouse

Objective:
To learn the knowledge, attitude and behaviors of AIDS of men who have sex wth men ( MSM ) in a gay bathhouse, so as to provide evidence for AIDS prevention and control among MSM.
Methods:
From April to June of 2017, the MSM in a gay bathhouse in Wuhan were investigated. Demographic information, awareness of AIDS related knowledge, attitude towards HIV infection, dating ways and purposes, and high-risk sexual behaviors were collected and analyzed.
Results:
Among 278 MSM responded, 235 ( 84.53% ) were aware of the basic knowledge of AIDS. The awareness rates of " transfusion with HIV blood will be infected ", " sharing syringes with HIV infected people will be infected ", "proper use of condoms can reduce the spread of AIDS ", " only having sex with one partner ( or few partners ) can reduce the spread of AIDS " were more than 90%, while the awareness rate of " high risk of HIV infection in gay bathhouses " was only 56.12%. Most respondents cared about the HIV infection situation of MSM, accounting for 74.46% ( 207 cases ) ; most denied or did not know the condition of friends infected with HIV, accounting for 82.37% ( 229 cases ) . The main purpose of coming to gay bathhouses was to find sexual partners, accounting for 87.41% ( 243 cases ) . About 52.16% had sexual behaviors with both heterosexual and homosexual partners, and 66.21% of them did not often or never use condoms when having sex with heterosexual partners.
Conclusions
The MSM in a gay bathouse have lower awareness of HIV infection situation and their partners, both heterosexual and homosexual behaviors, and lower proportion of insisting on condom use.
4.Awareness of air pollution protection knowledge among primary school students in Shennongjia Forest District

Objective:
To investigate the awareness of air pollution protection knowledge and its influencing factors among primary school students in Shennongjia Forest District, Hubei Province, so as to provide insights into targeting implementation of health education on air pollution protection knowledge.
Methods:
Students in Grade 3 to 5 in Shennongjia Shiyan primary school were enrolled by stratified cluster sampling method, and students' demographic features and awareness of air pollution protection knowledge were investigated using the Investigation on the Effects of Air Pollution Health Protection of Pupils (Volume A). Factors affecting the awareness of air pollution protection knowledge among primary school students were identified using a multivariable logistic regression model.
Results:
A total of 897 questionnaires were allocated, and 877 valid questionnaires were recovered, with an effective rate of 97.77%. The respondents included 446 men (50.86%) and 431 women (49.14%), 301 third grade students (34.32%), 284 fourth grade students (32.38%), and 292 fifth grade students (33.30%), and had a mean age of (10.32±0.93) years. The overall awareness of air pollution protection was 55.76%, and the awareness rates of basic concepts, basic knowledge, and basic behaviors and skills were 42.99%, 53.48% and 57.24%, respectively. Multivariable logistic regression analysis identified age (OR=1.453, 95%CI: 1.053-2.005), living with parents (OR=2.638, 95%CI: 1.571-4.429), mother's educational level (below primary school, OR=0.270, 95%CI: 0.084-0.862; primary school, OR=0.169, 95%CI: 0.069-0.416; junior high school, OR=0.309, 95%CI: 0.138-0.691; high school, OR=0.352, 95%CI: 0.160-0.773) and average annual family income (50 000 to 100 000 Yuan, OR=1.629, 95%CI: 1.162-2.282; 100 000 to 150 000 Yuan, OR=1.802, 95%CI: 1.101-2.948; ≥150 000 Yuan, OR=1.939, 95%CI: 1.065-3.529) as factors affecting the awareness of air pollution protection knowledge among primary school students.
Conclusion
The awareness of air pollution protection knowledge is 55.76% among primary school students in Shennongjia Forest District, and is affected by age, mother's educational level, average annual family income and living with parents.
5.Efficacy of solifenacin with or without tamsulosin in patients with overactive bladder

Objective To evaluate the efficacy of solifenacin with or without tamsulosin in patients with overactive bladder (OAB).Methods Fifty-three patients with OAB were randomly divided into two groups (group A 27 patients, group B 26 patients).The patients received either solifenacin 5 mg/day in group A or combined with Tamsulosin 0.2 mg/day in group B for two weeks.During the treatent period all the patients recorded voiding and adverse events in a diary.The symptoms of urgency, frequency, incontinence were evaluated by OABSS scores at the begining and end of the therapy period.The results of the efficacy and safety were analyzed by using SPSS 13.0.Results The OABSS scores at the begining and end for the two groups were significantly different ( P < 0.01 ).In both groups the efficacy was obvious.The OABSS scores at the end of the therapy between group A and B were significantly different (P <0.05 ).The efficacy of group B was better than that of group A.Conclusion The efficacy of solifenacin combined with tamsulosin was better than solifenacin alone in OAB.
6.Composition characteristics and chronic health risk assessment of atmospheric PM2.5 pollution in Qingshan District of Wuhan

Objective To investigate the pollution characteristics and potential health risks of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) in Qingshan District, Wuhan. Methods The PM2.5 samples were collected in Qingshan District of Wuhan for 7 days every and each month from the year 2016 to 2017. The components were measured by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). The potential health risks were assessed based on the standard method recommended by the United States Environmental Protection Agency. Results The average annual mass concentration of PM2.5 was 60.06 μg/m3, exceeding the ambient air quality standard of China. The average annual mass concentration of 4 water-soluble anions and cations was 17.80 μg/m3, accounting for 31.40% of PM2.5. The sum of NO3- and SO42- accounted for more than 70% of the total ions with an average ratio of 0.72, and the source was mainly the combustion of fossil fuels such as coal, oil and natural gas. The average annual mass concentration of 12 metal elements in PM2.5 was 0.27 μg/m3, with the main elements being Al, Pb, and Mn. The average concentration of As and Cr exceeded the annual average limit of ambient air quality standards. The annual average concentration of 16 types of PAHs was 15.72 ng/m3, of which the average BaP concentration was 1.32 ng/m3 in 2016, which was higher than the second-level limit in China, and 0.63 ng/m3 in 2017, which was lower than the limit. The risk assessment results showed that the percentile distribution of chronic non-carcinogenic and carcinogenic effects of both PAHs and As was relatively high, while Mn had certain chronic non-carcinogenic health risks, and Cr and Cd had certain carcinogenic risks. Conclusion In recent years, the air quality pollution in Qingshan District of Wuhan had been reduced, but it was still higher than the secondary air quality standard of China. The chronic non-carcinogenic and carcinogenic effects of some elements in PM2.5 exceeded acceptable levels, , which should be further emphasized.
7.Concentration and risk assessment of nonylphenol in three types of drinking water sources in Hubei Province

Background Nonylphenol (NP) is a typical phenolic endocrine disruptor, and there are significant differences in NP concentration in different regions and water types. Objective To investigate the concentration of NP in three types (river, lake, and reservoir) of water sources in Hubei Province, and assess its ecological risk and population health risk. Methods Fifteen sampling points were set up at four river water sources (Liangtingshan Waterworks, Baishazhou Waterworks, Dijiao Waterworks, and Zongguan Waterworks), one lake water source (Liangzi Lake), and one reservoir water source (Fushui Reservoir). Water samples were collected from the 15 sampling points in June 2019 (wet season), October 2019 (level season), and December 2019 (dry season), respectively. The NP concentration in water samples was detected using ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry, and the differences in NP concentration among groups were compared using variance analysis. The ecological risk and the health risk of NP were evaluated using risk quotient (RQ) and non-carcinogenic risk index (NCRI), respectively. Results The detection rate of NP was 100%, with an average concentration of (18.10±15.00) ng·L−1 (5.45-92.71 ng·L−1). The average concentrations of NP during the level, wet, and dry seasons were (11.52±5.31) ng·L−1, (23.86±22.08) ng·L−1, and (18.93±9.51) ng·L−1, respectively, and the maximum concentrations were 24.62 ng·L−1, 92.71 ng·L−1, and 42.38 ng·L−1, respectively. The variance analysis showed no statistical difference in the NP concentration in the samples from rivers, lakes, and reservoirs in different periods (P>0.05). Only the water samples from the water source serving the Zongguan Waterworks showed an RQ (0.19) greater than 0.1 during the wet season, indicating a moderate risk. The RQ values of other water samples were all less than 0.1, indicating an overall relatively low ecological risk. The highest NCRI values during the level, wet, and dry seasons were 0.1459, 0.5492, and 0.2511, respectively, all less than 1, indicating an acceptable health risk level. Conclusion The NP concentrations in all water sources in this study are at a relatively low level, which poses an acceptable risk level to human health.
