Objective To explore the regularity and characteristics of violence-related injury. Method Data from the injury surveillance in the Emergency Medicine department of Nan-shan hospital was used in this study. Data of all injured patients, who admitied to the emergency department between 1 January 2004 to 31 November 2005, was analysed. Results During the study period, 25376 injured patients were collected and 12280 (48.4%) were violence-related injury patients. The male to female ratio was 2.4: 1. Most of patients were aged 15～44 years old, accouting for 79.9%. The majority of the violence-related patients were wonters, accounting for 59%, most injuries were open wounds and occurred in working places, injuries occurred most during 13 pm to 18 pm. Conclusions Analysis of data from the violence injury surveillance in emergency department can be an aid for the depiction of the overall severe injury profile in area and, in this way, it will be essential for the implementation of properly preventive and controlling measures, despite some limitation. It is urgent to explore and develop an violence injury surveillance system to cope China's milieu.

BACKGROUND:Major abdominal vascular injury is a seldom serious complication during lumbar discectomy. Once occurring, it wil cause critical condition, and incorrect rescue and operation wil lead to patient’s death or functional disorder of the limbs. ＜br> OBJECTIVE:To explore the cause, diagnosis, prevention and treatment action for major abdominal vascular injury caused by lumbar discectomy. ＜br> METHODS:One case of common iliac artery injury caused by lumbar discectomy was reviewed in the aspects of diagnosis, prevention and treatment action. ＜br> RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The case suffered from common iliac artery injury caused by lumbar discectomy of right L 4-5 vertebrae, and achieved successful rescue by timely diagnosis, surgical intervention and artificial blood vessel transplantation. Injury of the vessels is relevant with many factors, including surgical operation, anatomy, pathology, etc. Unexplained intervertebral hemorrhage accompanied with sudden drop of blood pressure during surgery hints the possible occurrence of major vascular injury. Accurate diagnosis and instant surgical intervention is the key to rescue the patient’s life.

Objective To investigate the effects of different means of liquid resuscitation on microcirculation in rats with hemorrhagic shock. Method A model of rats with hemorrhagic shock was established in 40 Wistar rats. The rats were randomly divided into 4 groups according on different means of liquid resuscitation, and killed 24 hours after the examination, group A: without liquid resuscitation; group B: low-molecular-weight-40; group C: 7.5% hypertonic saline,group D:low-molecular-weight-40 + hyperonic saline. As well as the microcirculation in kidney was observed using electron microscope. Results In group without resuscitation, the microcirculation in kidney damaged severely; While in group with hypertonic or low molecule dextran alone, there was harm with dif-ferent degrees, and the microcirculation in kidney was nearly perfect in group with both hypertonic and low molecule dextran alone. Conclusions Different means of liquid resuscitation may infect the microcirculation in kidney, which with both hypertonic and low molecule dextran can protect the microcirculation in kidney.
