1.Activity of some erythrocyte antioxidant enzymes and total plasma antioxidant status.
Journal of Practical Medicine 2002;435(11):43-45
Activity of some erythrocyte antioxidant enzymes SOD, GPx and GR and total plasma antioxidant status were investigated on 58 workers who were working an a petroleum company. The results showed that there are negative correlation between blood lead level with activity of GPx and GR enzymes (r= -0.5724 and -0.4341, respectively). There was a slight decrease in total plasma antioxidant status of groups with high blood lead level, but it is insignificant.

Journal of Southern Medical University 2006;26(8):1166-1169
To investigate the expression of phospholipase C-gamma1 (PLC-gamma1) in mouse embryonic tissues, serial tissue sections were prepared routinely for immunocytochemistry for PLC-gamma1. The results showed that PLC-gamma1 was expressed in the cartilage, skeletal muscles, myocardium, the collecting tubule of the kidney, connective tissues and the brain, suggesting the important role PLC-gamma1 and the related signal pathway may play in the development of mouse embryonic tissues.

Yonsei Medical Journal 1987;28(4):255-260
The activities of Ca+2-PL dependent protein Kinase (PKC) and independent protein kinase(RKM) were measured in human stomach and breast tumors and in the respective counterparts of normal tissue. Expression of c-fos and c-myc of the tissues were also measured. RNAs of c-fos and c-myc were unexpectedly high in the tissue from normal stomach and breast as well as in all cancer tissue. On the other hand, cytosolic and particulate PKC activities were higher in the tumors as compared to those of normal controls. Notably, some cases exhibited. altered activities of PKC i.e. increased RKM activities as high as RKC, which might be related to the autocrine control of growth in the tumor mass.

PURPOSE: The aim of this preliminary study was to determine the possible relationship between alkaline phosphatase (ALP) levels in the gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) and periodontal disease in men with hypergonadotropic hypogonadism (HH). MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 41 patients were divided into four groups. 9 with HH and periodontitis (P/HH), 11 with HH and gingivitis (G/HH), 12 with systemically healthy and periodontally healthy (H/C) and 9 with systemically healthy and periodontitis (P/C). The clinical evaluation of patients was based on the following parameters; the plaque index (PI), gingival index (GI), probing depths (PD) and attachment level (AL). The levels of ALP in the GCF were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). RESULTS: No significant difference could be detected in the mean clinical parameter data between the P/HH and P/C groups (p > 0.05). The periodontitis patients in both groups (P/C and P/HH) had higher mean probing depths than the H/C and G/HH patients (p < 0.001). The concentrations and total amounts of ALP in the GCF were significantly higher in both periodontitis groups compared to healthy and gingivitis groups (p < 0.01). The serum ALP levels were significantly higher in the P/HH group when compared to the other groups (p < 0.001). CONCLUSION: The findings of this study suggested that HH could be implicated as a contributing factor to the progress of periodontal disease.

7.Expression of 5-lipoxygenase in human tissues and its association with disease.
Journal of Central South University(Medical Sciences) 2015;40(4):438-445
5-Lipoxygenase, one of lipoxygenase isozymes, is a well-studied oxidative metabolism enzyme. It widely exists in various human tissues and cells, participates in the oxidative metabolism of endogenous and exogenous chemicals, and produces a variety of metabolites, all of which contribute to the occurrence of human diseases, such as inflammation, asthma, atherosclerosis, and tumor and so on. The expression of 5-lipoxygenase is at low level in normal human tissues while at high level in abnormal tissues. 5-Lipoxygenase is closely related to many kinds of diseases in human ovary, brain, cardiovascular system, lung, liver, pancreas and other tissues. The abnormal expression of 5-lipoxygenase tends to promote the development of the disease.

8.Expression of cylooxygenase-2 in endometriosis.
Journal of Central South University(Medical Sciences) 2005;30(1):92-95
OBJECTIVE:
To investigate the expression of cyclooxygense-2 (COX-2) in eutopic and ectopic endometrium in ovarian endometriosis.
METHODS:
Thirty patients with ovrian endometriosis, 10 with ovarian chocolate cysts and 27 normal controls were enrolled it determine the expression of COX-2 immunohistochemically in eutopic or ectopic endometrium or healthy endometrial tissues.
RESULTS:
The immunoreactivities of COX-2 were found in epithelial cells and stromal cells in eutopic endometrium. The expression of COX-2 in the epithelial cells in the secretory phase was higher than that in the proliferative phase in the control group and ovarian endometriosis group (P <0. 05). But the expression of COX-2 in stromal cells in the control group and ovarian endometriosis group showed no cyclic changes throughout the menstrual cycle (P > 0. 05). The expression of COX-2 in eutopic and ectopic endometrium in the ovarian endometriosis group was higher than that in the control group (P <0. 05) , hut we did not find significant difference between the eutopic and ectopic endometrium in the ovarian endometriosis group (P > 0. 05).
CONCLUSION
The increased COX-2 expression in eutopic and ectopic endometrium in ovarian endometriosis may he related to its pathology.

The Korean Journal of Internal Medicine 2002;17(4):227-233
BACKGROUND: Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) has been considered a definitive carcinogen in gastric cancer. Telomerase is activated in gastric cancer and some premalignant gastric lesions, including intestinal metaplasia (IM). In this study, we evaluated the relationships of both H. pylori infection and telomerase activity with endoscopic and histologic features in IM. The effects of H. pylori eradication on endoscopic, histologic and biochemical changes were evaluated. METHODS: Endoscopic biopsies were obtained from 43 patients with IM for rapid urease, histologic and telomerase tests. The endoscopic and histologic features, H. pylori infection and telomerase were assessed. After H. pylori eradication, 15 patients were re-evaluated and compared after 4 months. RESULTS: Thirty-four (79.1%) patients were infected with H. pylori. The incidence of H. pylori infection was borderline correlated to the severity of IM (p=0.076). Telomerase was elevated in eight (18.6%) patients. Telomerase tends to be high in subtype III and endoscopic grade III of IM. After H. pylori eradication, endoscopic extent (p=0.039) and histologic severity (p=0.074) showed improvements, and telomerase decreased significantly (p=0.0001). CONCLUSION: Our data suggest that telomerase is associated with the severity and extent of IM and that H. pylori eradication improves the endoscopic and histologic features in IM, and decreases telomerase activity. H. pylori eradication can be considered one of the methods to prevent gastric cancer in patients with H. pylori-infected IM. Further long-term and large-scaled study will be needed.

Journal of Southern Medical University 2011;31(8):1431-1433
OBJECTIVETo observe the ultracytochemical localization of H(+)-adenosine triphosphatase (H(+)-ATPase) in the cell organelles.
METHODSThe localization of H(+)-ATPase in the cell organelles was observed in the hepatocytes and renal cells of Wistar rats using routine ultracytochemical methods.
RESULTSH(+)-ATPase activities were observed on the lysosomal membrane and nuclear envelope of the hepatocytes and proximal tubule epithelial cells of the nephron in Wistar rats.
CONCLUSIONThis finding supports the hypothesis that H(+)-ATPase (V-ATPase) is present on the plasma membrane and in the endomembrane system.
