In order to evaluate the diagnostic value of determing the serum strotium levelfor the drowning diagnosis,we carried out this study. The results of our expe-rirnental study are summarized as follows:(1).The blood Sr level determinationcould be used as a confirmatory test of drowning merely at the early stage(wi-thin 5 min)of drowning;(2).It could give some help for diagnosing the case ofdrowning submerged in water within 24 hours. It was showed that the durationof submersion has influence upon the postmortem blood Sr level. The blood Srlevel was measured in two submerged cases in medico-legal practice. One died ofdrowning and the another was postmortem sbmersion after electrocusion. It is inter-esting that the results of blood Sr determination of human being were more acc-urate than experimental animals. Therefore,we consider that the further studyabout this project is required.
2.A STUDY ON THE DIAGNOSIS OF DROWNING BY EXAMINING LUNG CHLOROPHYII(A)OF THE PLANKTONS WITH SPECTROFLUOROPHTOMETER
Chinese Journal of Forensic Medicine 1986;0(01):-
The diatom test has been used as a main diagnotic method of drowning.but itis doubful and even is considered valueless by some authors nowadays for it hasbeen proved by Niles Forged(1983)that the diatoms found in the internal organsof submerged corpses might be inspired into the body during fhe lifeWe believed that the diagnosis of drowning might be made by examining lungchlorophyll(a)of planktons with spectro-fluorophotometer qualitatively and quantitatively.According to our experimental stuudiesIt is confirmed that this method could be used for the diagnosis of drowning.Mean while two cases submerged in water were investigate.and the causesof deathwere diagnosed correctly. It is concluded that the examination of the lungchlorophyll(a)of planktoms could be used as a reliable diagnostic method infore nsic practice

the largest value of postmortem submersion and control group)were found in the lung sample The main species of diatoms found in the water sample and drowninga nimals were the same; 3.There was no significant difference of diatom both quantitative and qualitative between postmortem submersion and control group;4. There was no diagnostic value of the diatom analysis for the liver or kidney. A favorable result was obtained in a case of drowning victim of human being submerged in the reservoir for two days examined by the same method,it showed that the conclusionof our study could be used in the forensic medicine practice
